Edward’s gaze turned dark, “You lie, loser. I just signed a new deal with Mr. Enzo Mancini. And my company’s market value has increased. Whoever told you I sold my company is a lie and a loser.”

Emily, unsure of what to do next, nodded in agreement.

“I can see you are Jealous, she left me for you. Let’s be honest, what can you offer? Can you get her an invitation to an exclusive event?”

“I can get her as many invitations as she wants, just name it.”

“Stop bluffing, Asher,” Emily muttered.

Edward paused and sneered. “Let’s make a bet then since you claimed you can.”

“Since you called me a loser, you shouldn’t be afraid of me.”

To Edward, it was impossible for Asher to get an invite from the top prominent families in the city. “Sure, I am not scared. You have nothing, my family are among the prominent families in town.” He bawled. “There is an exhibition coming up soon in the south city, it’s being held by the Simpson’s. If you get yourself an Invite, I will make sure I give you my second mansion in the west city. But if you don’t, you will have to bow and lick my shoe.”

Asher had gotten Edward where he wanted; Edward had just dug his grave.

“I can see you are silent, you already know you will lose even before you get a chance.”

Asher let out a dry chuckle, “Deal,” he replied.

Emily, for a moment, felt bad for Asher; she knew he would lose to Edward. She felt nothing but pity for him. She wasn’t expecting him to accept the challenge, but she knew Asher was foolish and would want to impress her.

“You have a week,”

Getting an invitation for Asher was no big deal; he could get it with just the snap of his fingers; families are willing to do anything to have him in their events.

“Asher, you should accept defeat and apologise to Edward. Don’t humiliate yourself trying to prove a point.” Emily intoned, her voice was filled with disdain. “You can’t get an invite, no one would listen to you or whatever pathetic story you have to spew.”

Asher kept an unpredictable expression, he then shrugged, “There is no harm in trying; just tell your boyfriend or lover to get ready; everything here is recorded in case he tries to act funny.”

Edward and Emily exchanged glances, they wondered where he got his confidence from. It was obvious Asher wasn’t scared of the challenge.

He is definitely going to lose.

Edward was beginning to anticipate the day when he would humiliate Asher.

Asher glanced at his wrist; Emily’s eyes widened in shock at the Paket Philippe Grandmaster Chime on Asher’s wrist. Her stomach churned in disbelief.

There is something different from the old Asher she knew. “Could he be a millionaire in disguise? Did Asher win a jackpot? Could he have gotten himself a rich girlfriend?” Her mind reeling in confusion.

“I have to leave, make yourself comfortable. I can see my presence here is making you guys uneasy.” He smiled, “Don’t back down on your words.”

Asher ambled towards the exit, leaving Emily perplexed.

“He is gone. Don’t worry, I will make sure I humiliate him.”

Emily nodded, as they strode back to where they were seated before.

While Edward and Emily were having a good time at the event. His phone buzzed, and he retrieved his phone. Making his way to the restroom.

“Have you gotten it?” Edward asked.

“Mr. Edward, I am sorry, but there has been an issue. Mr. Simpson and his family had refused to offer you an invitation. They said your family are not on the same level as them.”

Edwards's hand clenched into a fist, and his face turned red. “This can’t be possible.” He said with his voice barely above a Whisper.

“I will find my way once I am done with what I am doing.” He said terminating the call.

Edward couldn’t believe he had been turned down by Mr. Simpson. His mind raced, and his knuckles turned ghostly white.

Asher leaned his back on his seat, as the car cruised down the empty streets. His driver, Mason, was focused on the road.

As they neared a quiet street corner, Asher's sharp eyes caught something unusual. A black Mercedes Benz was parked awkwardly in the middle of the road with its headlights shining in an almost menacing way. Around the car were five men clustered together, their bodies tense, their hands twitching at their sides.

Asher didn’t need to look twice to know something was wrong.

He leaned forward, tapping the driver to slow down.

Mason didn’t ask a question. He obliged; as they came closer, Asher’s eyes locked onto the figures in the shadows.

He could sense danger, a man was gripping the arm of a young woman while another held the young man at gunpoint.

He didn’t hesitate, “Stop the car, now.” He ordered, with a sharp tone.

Mason slammed the brakes, the car screeching to a halt just a few yards away from the chaos.

“Young master, you can’t go there. Those men are dangerous and they could hurt you.” Mason said in concern, “I can quickly call for backup.”

“Don’t bother, I can handle them,” Asher replied confidently. “Stay here and don’t try calling anyone.” He commanded.

Mason nodded, his face already reflecting the concern brewing inside of him.

Asher turned towards them, the lady could be heard crying and pleading to be set free. The five men hadn’t noticed his presence yet. They were too focused on their target, the woman and her brother, who were visibly terrified.

“Let them go,” Asher commanded.
