Asher was shocked and confused. He was finding it difficult to believe it was her.

“Isabella.” The name escaped his lips.

The woman froze, her eyes widening in shock as she stared at the figure who had just called her name. Her eyes flickered between the man and her son.

A few moments later, they both were seated across from each other. With a defining silence that had engulfed them.

“I demand an explanation? What are you doing here, and where have you been?” Asher asked, his voiced was brimming in anger.

Isabella clutched her son closer. She swallowed the lump in her throat as she struggled with her words. She had never imagined she would ever come in contact with Asher.

Asher’s gaze was serious and dangerous. “I am talking to you, and don’t keep quiet like you didn’t hear my question, Isabella.”

“Mom, do you know him?” The little boy asked.

Isabella broke into tears, Asher kept a mild demeanor, and all he demanded was an explanation from her.

“I am sorry, Asher. It’s not what you think.” She said in between sobbing.

“What do you mean?” He raised his brow furiously.

“I didn’t mean to run away, I was scared. I didn’t mean to hurt you after my parents’ death. I couldn’t stare at my uncle because of how he was always molesting me. I ran away from home to save myself.”

“Why didn’t you tell me about it?” he asked. “I would have helped you.”

“It’s not as easy as you think, Asher.” She replied.

Asher was lost for words, He couldn’t believe he would ever see her again. He and Isabella used to be lovers, but things didn’t go as planned for them five years ago.

He knew about Isabella’s struggles, but she never gave him the chance to help. His heart broken where he learnt she ran away, he searched everywhere for her but to no avail.

Asher looked at the child, “Are you married? Where is your husband?”

“I am not married, I got pregnant for a random person.”

Her words broke his heart, Asher swallowed softly. His gaze moved from the boy to his mother. Isabella kept crying, and he handed her his handkerchief to wipe away her tears.

While Asher and Isabella kept talking, he noticed something familiar. He could tell just by looking at it, his attention shifted to the little boy. His eyes landed on the boy’s wrist, a small, distinct birthmark, one he had himself.

His breath hitched.

“Where did you get that from?” his tone made Isabella tense.

The little boy looked at Asher. “Mommy, said I was born with it.”

Isabella tried to hide it, but it was too late.

Asher’s gaze snapped back at Isabella, and how face turned pale.

“Tell me the truth,” Asher demanded with his voice firmly. “Who owns this child?”

Asher remembered they both spent time together on numerous occasions. Before she disappeared.

Isabella swallowed hard, her mouth was open, but nothing to say.

“Damn it, Isabella. Is he mine? His voice was sharp and filled with desperation.

She turned away, grabbing her son. “No, it’s not yours.”

Asher frowned furiously; something in him wasn’t convinced by her statement. His jaw tightened. “To hell with your lies, Isabella.” His hands clenched by his side. “If you won’t tell me, then we will take a DNA test. Right now.”

She snapped, shaking her head in disagreement. “Never, you can’t barged into our lives and demand answers. I am leaving.”

Asher gripped her hand, “I can and I will. Because I believe you’re not telling me the truth. If there’s any slight chance that he is mine, I won’t walk away.”

Isabella’s vision became blurred, she refused to let Asher have his way. But it was late, Asher was already facing the boy, as he knelt before him.

“Would you like to go on an adventure with me?” He asked, forcing a smile.

The little boy’s gaze darted from his mother to Asher, before giving him a nod, “Okay.”

“Let’s find the truth, meet me outside.”

Some moments later, Asher and Isabella were both waiting for the doctor’s report. They both sat down quietly and patiently, with a few of Asher’s men around the hospital.

While Asher kept ignoring the call from his phone, the call kept coming in and refused to stopped. He sighed in frustration, as he answered the call.

“What is it?” He yelled into the phone. Moving away from Isabella.

He signalled the guard to watch over them, while he walked away to answer.

“I am sorry, young master, if my call is disturbing your peace. But I am calling to inform you that everything is in place. Mr. Edward George has agreed to a meeting, it’s left for you to choose a date.” Mark let out.

Asher exhaled softly, “Let’s get it done immediately, we stick with the same plan.” he hung up the call.

He was about to leave when his guard ran towards him with a saddened demeanor. Asher’s eyes darted around for a moment.

“What happened?”

“I am sorry, young master. But the lady and the little boy are nowhere to be found around the hospital.”

Asher expressions darkened, he ran towards the room he left both Isabella and the boy. They were truly not there, his knuckles turned white, and his jaw clenched.

“Find them,” he instructed.
