Chapter 4

It was in the evening the yellow sun was shining down to earth making a good-looking view of the earth. General Martin in his full soldier uniform was standing beside the accident scene silent. He could not believe this was a second fail that he has ever done to his life after being successful to defeat the terrorist on the Kenyan boarders.

He was facing the military already burn van; behind him other people were gathered round the scene to have a look of the horrified scene. In the other side, an ambulance was trying to rescue the injured people. The wise soldier who in good luck survived the attack moved General Martin and with fear of Martin’s rank but due to the favour of his people he asked, “What was this that you were telling us to carry.” Martin as if he did not care of the accident answered,

“You are a soldier you should work without questions.”

“I will think if you want me to work for you, you must tell me the truth.”

General Martin faced the soldier and said, “Don’t let the media report this incident,” then General Martin walked to his car where the door was opened by another soldier and entered the car. The wise soldier silently faced General Martin as he was drove away. The covering news to the media was a normal soldier task so this was nothing to the wise soldier, he also had to follow the orders of his General in spite of his threat he had no power over the General.

It was at night raining as normal in the town and Victoria onto her normal duties at night she was preparing supper. Suddenly the door to her siting room was nocked, Victoria quickly rushed to the door and left Lynn glued to the TV. To the opening of the door, she found it was Ben folded on a blanket. The day was busy for Victoria where she entered the house late and because she wanted to do her duties so that she can rest at one she dropped her hand bag and walked to the kitchen forgetting to take off the gun from her back.

Quickly Victoria took of the gun, pointed it to ben, and shouted, “What are you doing here?” Ben as normal with his innocent face he responded, “I did not kill them on my intention.” Victoria as she was panicking of what Ben can do to her and her daughter,

“You are a killer and you manipulated me to think that you are good person.”

“Am sorry for what I have done.”

“Sorry won’t bring life to those two people that you killed.”

“Victoria am innocent but I have a problem,” and started moving closer to Victoria to show her he had no any bad intentions. Victoria shouted, “Stop I will shoot,” where Ben paused at once where Victoria added,

“Why did those soldiers came for you in the police post what have you done?”

Without even knowing the meaning of the word soldier he added up and responded, “I don’t know those guys and I don’t know what they want from me. I have seen you take part in keeping the law what was not done back in out days being a lady but all I want is you to help me find out why are those men need me so bad and they know the beast in me.”

 Before Victoria responded anything Lynn appeared behind her where she called out, “Mom!” Quickly Victoria turned to her daughter hide the gun; because she did not wanted to rise her daughter knowing her mother is violet so her daughter will not be afraid of her to have a clear talk with her at the age of teenager.

Victoria then said to her daughter, “Lynn I need you to go back to the TV and watch our program.” Lynn innocently without not knowing what was going on she reasoned,

 “Ok but why won’t you let the visitor in?”

“Not all visitors are good and that’s why I always tell you to not trust them.”

“But last time you let the visitor in the house and he was harmless.”

Victoria to cut the conversation with her daughter with an African mom look of being serious she faced Lynn and said, “I won’t repeat myself go and watch the TV.” Lynn remembering how her mother turned to deadly some other time when she was on the wrong side she walked back to the sitting room.

After the conversation to her daughter where she walked back to the sitting room quickly, Victoria pulled of her gun again and pointed to Ben where she was astonished to find the door was empty where he had already gone. For a moment she was at her door full of questions who can answer her was already gone.

In the next day Victoria as he was in her working place glued to the computer trying to solve some recent cases that were unsolved. Her mind was full of thoughts about the guy Ben why was he taken by the military, who does he look innocent and what he wanted yesterday in my house but all those questions were made to a pause because of the time she had only the pictures.

Suddenly her work mate Drake rushed and stopped beside her while he was holding his phone and said, “See this video!” Victoria moved closer to Drake’s phone to have a view in the phone. The phone was displaying a video of the accident that occur between the military van that was carrying Ben and other vehicles, the video was not that clear but it could see that a creature was fighting the soldiers.

But due to the fact we live in a Morden world where stories of supernatural beings or beast been considered as myth of the non-intelligent people Drake assumed the possibility and said, “Yes I have also got intrigued by that but I think is an lion or some wild animal.”

Victoria curiously faced him and asked, “Are you sure?” Due to the area nearness to the national, park Drake backing up his point by saying,

“The place is near a park.”

“That’s weird because Ben was at my home yesterday at night.”

“What did you do?”

“He left before I noticed him. But that does not add up why he was left lose.”

“That guy you saw him he is very smart he can pretend to be innocent and yet he is a criminal.”

“Still it does not add up because there was no news of the accident not the escape of a wild animal in the news.”

The question made Drake silent where he was out of word. Suddenly the autopsy man walked to them where he broke the silence by saying, “I have the report about the two bodies.” Victoria and her partner faced him silently waiting for the autopsy man to continue. The man who was quick in reading people reactions and behaviours said, “The bodies is like they were attacked by something that is not human.”

Before the man, added any other word something cross Victoria’s mind where she suddenly stood and left, where the man paused his speech and the two guys astonish faced Victoria as she left.

General Martin was in his office doing some documentation of some government document, as he was not currently facing no challenge. Suddenly there was a knock in his office door Martin expecting normal government stuffs he answered, “Come in.” The General’s assistant slowly and polite opened the door to the office where he said,

“There is someone here who wants to talk to you.”

“Who is it?”

“It’s a lady.”

General Martin having some history of ladies having a crush on him due to his rank and his money Martin which pleasing to him he smiled and responded, “Ok let her in.” immediately the assistant walked out of the office Victoria entered the office.

General Martin did not remember Victoria and using his charming words that he used to women, he said, “Yes madam how I can help you?” Victoria who was still looking confused and afraid of first drop what she had on her thought she started, “May I first seat?” Martin quickly rushed to the sit that Victoria was standing beside and as a gentle man she drag the seat back while saying, “You know this days men are not many men gentlemen but we are.”

Victoria not sinking in the same line with General Martin she sat on the seat where he asked, “What drink would you need?” “Am ok! There is something important I wanted to talk to you.” She responded. This raised curiosity on him where his desires suddenly dropped as he walked back to his sit sat and faced her.

Victoria who had already saw that the General was an alpha male she took advantage of it where she already study him. She said, “Am a police detective and to talk to you about the man that you took my criminal.” Immediately he heard that story he rose off his seat and raised his voice by saying, “Am not talking about that get out my office.”

Victoria wasn’t used to be diminished by men where he confidently said to the high tempered man,

“I know what you were dealing with, a beast.”

“That’s a top government secret.”

“I don’t think so and I will find out because the criminal I now know he is out of loss.”

“Do you know who you are talking to like that? I can make you disappear.”

At once, Victoria remembered her young daughter and the threat was too intense to her. She responded back to show she was still strong though the threat had hit her, “I will find justice for the innocent man.” Then after the words, she walked out of the office angry because of the way the general lessened her.

The night was calm thing were moving it its normal way the programme that Lynn was used to watch she was glued to the TV watching. Victoria this time she was beside her daughter watching TV. What could be only be heard due to the outside silence was the people in the TV programme.

Due to Victoria speciality, she noticed there was something suspicious about the night how it was so quiet where she suddenly mute the TV. Her daughter not knowing the reason of her mother to mute the TV she complained, “Mom I was watching that.” For a moment Victoria did not responded anything and when she heard a single movement outside she whispered to her daughter, “Run into the closet.”

As Lynn, ran to the closet Victoria unmute the TV and slowly walked to the door. Immediately she reached at the door the door was blown up where the blast threw her backwards. The next moment she was laying on the ground dust trying to move but her eardrum was vibrating hindering her movement.

At a distance as she was trying to rise which was impossible at the time, soldiers on guns entered into her house on guns ready to attack. Quickly she added up and know she was the target and this people were sent to kill her not to capture her due to their entrance. Victoria slowly drag her broken body to safety as she was praying to God to protect her daughter. This was one present probability that Victoria and her daughter were going to get out of this alive because at first Victoria had no gun.

At the closet as the soldiers were searching round the house they noticed some movements, where without looking in as normal afraid soldiers they opened fire to the closet and for a moment the house was full of gun shoot. To where Victoria was hiding, she knew that her daughter was no more because they were shooting on something on the closet where her daughter was hiding.

After the shooting one of the soldier walked to the closet to open to see if they had caught their target. To the opening of the closet due to the darkness of the room, somebody fell on the flour dead. This released their stress where one of them took the radiophone and said, “We have cleared the mission.”

Suddenly under the bed, there was a sneeze where they all paused for a moment. Slowly they took cover and moved under the bed to see who was under the bed. In to their shock they found a little girl who was hiding.

Behind them, they heard a roaring where the soldiers faced to the direction to find the 10 feet beast standing before them. Without wasting any time and as if they were prepared for something, more they started shooting the beast. Sparks of light filled the dark room as if the room was under lightning and thunderstorm and due to the heavy guns the room was noisy.

The beast that was which it had some encounter with the soldiers who were not friendly to him it started attacking the soldiers. The beast as it was fighting the soldiers who were attacking the beast back slowly Lynn who was crying due to the shock walked out under the bed and walked out of the room. The soldiers were busy fighting the beast that was invincible to see her running out of the bed.

Victoria behind the sofa she was closing her eyes praying. The situation was impossible for her because if she would brave up herself to go and try to save her daughter at the end of the day she would be an orphan. The supreme being that people remember at times of in need was the same that Victoria was praying and having a faith that can move the mountains she strongly had towards her daughter to survive the attack.

In good luck to where Victoria was hiding her daughter who was crying due to the terror tapped her. As a comforting mother, she was relieved off her stress forgetting the situation they were stuck in she hugged tight her daughter.

In the bedroom the soldier were less for the beast where one of them at the corner who was not fighting he was conversing with General Martin through the radio phone,

“The beast is too strong for us.”

“That is why I sent in masses take it down that is the important thing not the lady.”

The soldier after the call he noticed the beast was too strong for his men and as a wise and selfish man he rushed out of the room while shouting to the other soldiers, “Attack!” when the soldier walked out of the house that soldiers screams and guns shoots like it was the fight in Armageddon.

A few meters away from the house the soldier noticed Victoria and her daughter that were running away. The coward soldier immediately knew that this is where he is going to clear his name. She took his gun shoot up and said, “Stop!” Victoria who was unarmed knowing that this was a soldier who they shoot to kill and go unpunished she stopped face back where she found that the soldier pointing the gun to her.
