Eleanor smiled when she saw that Regina Calloway stood frozen in place. “Who exactly are you?” Regina whispered. People were filming and watching. Nobody dared to interefere between these women, not even the security guards.
“It's none of your business. I'm here for Damian.” Eleanor shifted her attention to him. “I have something urgent to discuss with you. Could you come with me?”
Damian glanced at Regina before he nodded. “Alright. Shall we?” He asked.
Regina led the way. Her bodyguards parted the crowd like the red sea. No one stopped her or Damian from leaving.
Once they reached the parking lot, Eleanor stopped walking and turned to Damian. He stood awkwardly, holding the broken necklace in his hand.
“You should be more careful,” Eleanor said, “People like her thrive on making others feel powerless. You shouldn't let her do that to you.”
Damian blinked. “I know. I've been married into that family for one year. This is just one of Regina's games. But, why did you help me? You don’t even know me.”
Eleanor smiled. "I know more than you think and I'll explain later." She looked at the necklace dangling in his hands. “That necklace is special, isn’t it?”
“It belonged to my mother,” he said quietly. He opened his palm, opening his palms. “Regina had no right to take it. It doesn't matter what has happened between us.”
Eleanor nodded. “I can help you get it fixed.”
Damian hesitated. He wasn’t used to receiving kindness from strangers, especially not powerful women like this. Before he could turn down her offer, he heard the sound of tires screeching as black SUVs pulled over.
A guard walked forward and opened the door for Eleanor. They were all waiting for her to get in. She looked at Damian, “shall we?”

Back inside the office building, Regina was angry. She looked at the security guards in anger. "You're all useless!" she screamed. “How could you just stand there and let him walk out with that woman? Do you have any idea who I am? She just humiliated me in front of everyone!”
One of the guards stammered, "Miss Calloway, we couldn’t just—"
“I don’t want to hear your excuses!” Regina snapped. “You’re all fired. All of you. I want you out of here, now!”
The guards looked at each other. They didn't know what to say. Regina’s phone began to ring in her pocket. She got it out and ber eyes widened when she saw the caller ID.
It was her sister, Bianca.
She answered the call. “Bianca,” she began to cry, faking victim as some of the crowd still watched.
Bianca was immediately worried. “Regina, what's wrong?” She asked, over the phone.
“You need to get here right now. It's Damian. I need you here.” Regina said
Bianca Calloway immediately left her office. The CEO she was supposed to meet hadn't arrived yet so she had to meet her sister. Her heels resounded on the tiles as she walked through the crowd with her chin raised. Most people left there recognized her.
“Regina, what happened?” Bianca asked, noticing that people were staring at her.
Regina pouted. “Damian hit me!” She cried.
“What?!” Bianca asked. Something about this didn’t sound right.
“Yes. He tried to assault me. He grabbed me and when I fought him, he slapped me, Bianca. Just look,” she turned her slightly reddened cheek at her sister. Bianca saw the proof. She couldn't deny it.
“I even tried to talk to him about the necklace he stole from our family and he just lost it! Your worthless ex husband slapped me, Bianca, in front of all these people!” She pointed at the security guards who were still waiting.
“Damian hit her?” Bianca asked in disbelief. She looked at them for agreement. The guards nodded, avoiding her eyes. One of them was desperate to get on the good side of his bosses so, he spoke up. “It's true, ma'am. He even attacked us when we tried to restrain him.”
Bianca crossed her arms over her chest. Her eyes narrowed at them. That was impossible. She had always known Kendall to be calm and collected. He wasn't the kind of person to fight, especially not in public like this and with his sister.
“You see?” Regina said. She wiped the tears from her eyes, “I always told you he wasn’t good enough for you, Bianca. He’s nothing but a brute! He’s probably been seeing that woman for months now. That's why he needed an excuse to leave us. He wanted this divorce, Bianca. You’re better off without him.”
The story just wasn't making sense. She couldn’t shake the feeling that Regina was leaving something out of this story. Kendall wasn’t the type to act out like this.
She knew him enough to know that. He wouldn't do that unless he had been provoked. In a way, she knew him better than anyone else did. Or at least, she thought she had.
But then again, people change. What grabbed her attention was the woman involved in this.
Bianca frowned. “What woman?”
Regina scoffed. “He’s already moved on and found another woman. I don't even know who she was. She just barged in with her personal guards and joined Damian to insult our whole family.”
Was Kendall already seeing another woman?
“I never expected anything like this from Damian. But if the guards are saying the same thing, maybe I’ve been wrong. I've been wrong about him all this time.”
“Of course you’ve been wrong! I told you from the start. That man didn’t deserve you and look at what he has done! He humiliated us both today, Bianca. Are you going to just let him get away with that?” Regina asked, escalating the matter.
Bianca’s eyes darkened. She had been rethinking her decision to divorce Kendall for weeks now. She kept wondering if she had been too harsh. But now, hearing Regina’s side of the story, she felt her like she had made the right decision.
No one really knew the true nature of a man.
“I’ll deal with Kendall,” Bianca said quietly. “He’s not going to get away with this.”
Bianca and Regina Calloway still stood in the lobby of her office building. The crowd had disappeared, everyone minding their business and going on with their jobs. Bianca's mind was still running through everything she had heard.Regina noticed that Bianca wasn't ready to say anything so, she spoke up first. "What are you thinking about?” She asked.Bianca blinked at her. She only just realized that her sister had been talking to her but her mind was someplace else. Bianca stared at the red mark on her sister's cheek. Damian's hand had left a print.“I told you I’ll deal with Damian later,” Bianca muttered. “I have to meet the CEO of Everest Corporations now. I can’t let this whole thing distract me.”She checked the time. The CEO had said it was urgent but he was already running late for her meeting. It wasn’t helping that her thoughts were so confusing too. What had really happened between Damian and Regina? And who was that woman Regina talked about?Has Damian really moved on?Ma
The accusation felt like a slap to Damian's face. He loved Bianca. She was accusing him of being infidel. “I have been nothing but faithful in this marriage. Today is the first time I've ever seen or met Eleanor,” Damian explained himself.“I don't believe you,’’ Bianca snapped and she immediately hung up on him.Damian stared at the phone for a few moments wondering what had just happened. Bianca had never reacted this way before. Not to him.“Is everything alright?” Eleanor asked.Damian put his phone in the breast pocket of his jacket and nodded, “Yeah, everything's fine.” He replied, looking out the window.”Bianca began to pace. She and Regina dismissed the guards and returned back to her office. She was still so angry but then, she realized that she hadn't asked him what she wanted to ask him.Her mind had been occupied by the fact that he left with the CEO and in anger, she had forgotten to ask about what happened between him and her sister. Again, she dialled his number. This
A while after Damian ended the call, their black SUV pulled over in front of one of the biggest hospitals in the city. Damian furrowed his brows as he looked outside the window. He glanced at Eleanor as they began to drive into the underground parking lot. She sat beside him and her hands were folded into fists on her lap.“Where are we going?” Damian finally asked.Eleanor lifted her eyes to look at him. “This might come as a shock but I've been trying to meet you for over a month. It's been harder than I thought because you're a behind the scene kind of person. I had to reach out to your wife to try and meet you.”“Why are we here?” Damian repeated a little harsher. The driver pulled over and Eleanor signalled for him to get out of the car. He bowed and stepped out, giving them privacy."Jasper Mueller told me about you," she said quietly. The name rang a bell in Damian's head. He remembered helping the billionaire out. He was the richest man in the South.“He praised your extraordi
The lady stood her ground, blocking them. She glared at Damian and then Eleanor, shifting between the both of them. Damian guessed that the girl was Eleanor's sister. But, he couldn't tell if she was the younger or the older one. They looked a lot alike and if there was any age difference between them, Damian was sure that it wasn't up to four years. It wasn't until Charlotte grabbed Eleanor's hand and began to beg that Damian guessed she was the younger sister.“Eleanor, you have to do something!” Charlotte insisted. “The doctors are saying that he might not make it till morning. There's still time. We can fly in the best doctor from any country. Please, Eleanor. We can't let Grandfather die.”“It's true, ma'am. We don't think he's going to make it through the night. His body is fighting treatment and it won't be long before it fails him completely.” One of the doctors agreed, stepping forward to tell her.Eleanor pulled her lips into a straight line before she placed her hand on her
Eleanor breathed in relief and walked forward. She stood between her sister and Damien. A few minutes ago, she had held her breath, having a little doubt about Damien diagnosing Charlotte right. Jason had only recommended him, but she never saw him treat anyone. Surely, she was doubtful and worried. Her relief knew no bounds when he was able to diagnose Charlotte just by looking at her. Jason was right, he was the perfect person for the job, and that made her feel guilty for doubting him. "You see, Charlotte, he might be our only hope. We should give him a chance," she said, trying to convince her sister who still had her eyes widened. A doctor can't get the right prescription by looking at a person. She felt a foul play, and thinking about it, she frowned and looked at her sister. "Sis, you can't fool me. You told this guy about my situation so he could come reveal it to us and act like a miracle worker. Is that how much grandfather means to you? Are you ready to put his life in j
Damien rushed into the chemistry lab, which was on the top floor of the hospital. He needed all the time and help he could get, but no one was willing to help him. Thanks to Eleanor who helped to convince them, although they weren't convinced but they just had to accept her command, he was able to get away. But, if he didn't return, they made it clear that they would administer the old medicine and would call the cops on him. Going to jail wasn't something he wanted at that moment, especially when he just had a difficult moment in his life. He got in and brought out all the chemicals he needed. He dropped the medicines he had taken from the pharmacy on the work table and began to sort them out. Years ago, he had prepared medicine for the same strange sickness, mistakenly, and it worked. A young girl from his hometown was diagnosed with the same ailment and when everyone thought she would die and had given up hope, he stepped in. She got better which was a miracle, but died with he
Damian Williams looked down at the small anniversary gift he had gotten for his wife as he waited outside her office. It wasn’t expensive, he couldn't afford things like she did. But, it was a small token of love and he hoped she liked it.Today was their first anniversary. He had imagined the day differently. He even planned for a celebration, maybe dinner. But instead, he found himself here waiting to meet with Bianca, his wife, in her office.Madison walked towards him. “Mr. Williams, Miss Callaway is ready to see you now,” she said with a forced smile.Damian furrowed his brows but he said nothing. Why was her secretary calling her by her maiden name? She had been Mrs. Williams for over a year, not Miss Callaway. Madison knew that.Even though, he and his wife had become like strangers, they were still married. Bianca was always focusing on her job as the CEO of Callaway Group. It left her with no room for anything else. But, she had called Damian to his office. It excited him. Sh
Just as Damian was about to leave, he stopped. He looked back at the office. Although he told himself that he would sign the documents on his own terms, there was no need for any delay. He returned back and signed the papers. Damian left her office without looking back. The signed divorce papers were on Bianca’s desk. That flimsy sheet of paper was a sign that the past one year was wasted on someone who never truly cared about him. There was no room for regret. He had done that he needed to do to make the marriage work. Now, it was time to move on with his life.As he stepped into the corridor, he heard Bianca’s secretary talking excitedly about the CEO meeting with her co worker. Damian couldn't help but scoff. The secretary couldn’t care less about the end of their marriage. Even Bianca only cared about the meeting that she couldn't wait to properly end their marriage. “Typical,” he said, putting his hands into his pockets. But as much as he wanted to move on, the pain he felt r
