Bianca and Regina Calloway still stood in the lobby of her office building. The crowd had disappeared, everyone minding their business and going on with their jobs. Bianca's mind was still running through everything she had heard.
Regina noticed that Bianca wasn't ready to say anything so, she spoke up first. "What are you thinking about?” She asked.
Bianca blinked at her. She only just realized that her sister had been talking to her but her mind was someplace else. Bianca stared at the red mark on her sister's cheek. Damian's hand had left a print.
“I told you I’ll deal with Damian later,” Bianca muttered. “I have to meet the CEO of Everest Corporations now. I can’t let this whole thing distract me.”
She checked the time. The CEO had said it was urgent but he was already running late for her meeting. It wasn’t helping that her thoughts were so confusing too. What had really happened between Damian and Regina? And who was that woman Regina talked about?
Has Damian really moved on?
Madison, her secretary, approached them. “Miss Calloway, the CEO of Everest Corporations...”
Bianca raised an eyebrow. “What about her? Is she here?”
“She already left,” Madison replied, apologetically.
Bianca froze. “What? Why?”
“I don't know but her secretary called and cancelled the meeting. They left and extended their apology.” Madison explained.
Bianca frowned. The CEO of Everest Corporations had a reputation. She wasn't one to cancel an important meeting. Bianca had been expecting a business deal. Leaving was in directly telling Bianca that she had changed her mind.
Regina frowned. “Wait, did you just say the CEO of Everest Corporations?” Regina asked.
“Yes. Why?” Bianca asked.
Regina fished out her phone and typed in a few things. “I knew she was looking familiar,’’ she muttered. She lifted her head to look into Bianca's eyes. “You're not going to like this. The woman who just left with Damian? That’s her.”
Bianca stared at her sister blankly. Her mind was trying to process what she had just heard. “What are you talking about?”
“The woman Damian walked out with,” Regina repeated slowly, “That woman is the CEO of Everest Corporations.”
The security guards standing there, widened their eyes. They too hadn't known that she was the one.
Bianca felt her blood grow cold in shock. “What?” now, she wasn't even thinking about business. What bothered
her was the fact that a woman of that caliber was with Damian.
“She’s the one you were supposed to meet with, Bianca. But, I guess she wasn’t here for you.” Regina scoffed. “She was here to meet him.”
There was silence for a moment. “No, that's not possible. She was here to meet Damian?”
Madison was still standing by the door. “I’m afraid she's right, Miss Calloway. The CEO was scheduled to meet you today because of Mr Williams. The secretary said so.”
For a moment, Bianca didn’t know what to do. She just stood by the floor to ceiling window. Damian had left with the CEO of Everest Corporations, the same woman she was supposed to meet. And he hadn’t told her a thing.
She felt foolish. She had left him in the office to meet the CEO. Damian knew that. He hadn’t even mentioned that he knew her.
Bianca was suddenly angry. Why had Damian been hiding this from her? The guilty feeling she had since signing the divorce papers weeks ago was gone. It was replaced with hurt and anger.
She immediately took her phone and called her ex husband. To try and contain her anger, she began to tap her foot on the ground. She needed answers from him now.
Damian was sitting in the backseat of a black SUV, driving to the other side of town. He stared out the tinted windows quietly. Eleanor say next to him while hee secretary sat in the passenger seat next to the driver.
Damian felt like the life he had been building had fallen apart. He was trying to understand everything that had happened in the last hour. The divorce, Regina’s behavior, the broken necklace and Eleanor's arrival. He hadn’t expected Eleanor or anyone to step in the way she had.
Now, they were on their way to discuss something private. Damian didn't know what it was but she behaved like someone with a lot of power. He didn't quite know what it was he was walking into.
His phone began to ring. When he saw the name of the person calling, his eyes widened slightly.
It was Bianca.
He hadn’t expected her to call. He hesitated then answered. “Bianca?”
Eleanor glanced at him as he said the name.
“Damian,” Bianca said curtly but he could tell that she was angry. “What the hell is going on?”
Damian frowned, caught off guard. “What are you talking about?”
“I mean, why the hell were you meeting with the CEO of Everest Corporations behind my back? And why didn’t you tell me?!”
Damian blinked, confused. “Wait, what? I'm not meeting anyone in secret. Eleanor was here for business, Bianca. She just happened to meet me.”
“Eleanor?” Bianca scoffed. ‘“So it's true. You're even on a first name basis with her now?”
Damian exhaled slowly. “Bianca, calm down. Eleanor and I are just going to discuss something important. It’s not about you.”
“You didn’t think you should tell me that you were meeting with her? The same person I was supposed to meet with?”
Damian furrowed his brows. “I didn’t know you were supposed to meet her.” He glanced at Eleanor as he said this.
“Don’t lie to me, Damian! She’s the CEO of Everest Corporations. You knew I was supposed to meet her!” Damian could feel her anger through the phone. “I’ve been questioning myself on if I made the right choice with this divorce but now I see I was wrong.”
“Bianca, don't say that. Don't make this more than what it is,” Damian told her. He gripped the necklace in his hand.
“This was it, huh? This was why you didn't push hard enough not to sign the divorce paper. You're a liar and a cheat, Damian,” Bianca accused him.
“Bianca…”
Bianca let out a scoff. “I don't even know who you are anymore. You signed the divorce papers merely an hour ago and you’ve already moved on, haven't you? You've moved on with her!”
The accusation felt like a slap to Damian's face. He loved Bianca. She was accusing him of being infidel. “I have been nothing but faithful in this marriage. Today is the first time I've ever seen or met Eleanor,” Damian explained himself.“I don't believe you,’’ Bianca snapped and she immediately hung up on him.Damian stared at the phone for a few moments wondering what had just happened. Bianca had never reacted this way before. Not to him.“Is everything alright?” Eleanor asked.Damian put his phone in the breast pocket of his jacket and nodded, “Yeah, everything's fine.” He replied, looking out the window.”Bianca began to pace. She and Regina dismissed the guards and returned back to her office. She was still so angry but then, she realized that she hadn't asked him what she wanted to ask him.Her mind had been occupied by the fact that he left with the CEO and in anger, she had forgotten to ask about what happened between him and her sister. Again, she dialled his number. This
A while after Damian ended the call, their black SUV pulled over in front of one of the biggest hospitals in the city. Damian furrowed his brows as he looked outside the window. He glanced at Eleanor as they began to drive into the underground parking lot. She sat beside him and her hands were folded into fists on her lap.“Where are we going?” Damian finally asked.Eleanor lifted her eyes to look at him. “This might come as a shock but I've been trying to meet you for over a month. It's been harder than I thought because you're a behind the scene kind of person. I had to reach out to your wife to try and meet you.”“Why are we here?” Damian repeated a little harsher. The driver pulled over and Eleanor signalled for him to get out of the car. He bowed and stepped out, giving them privacy."Jasper Mueller told me about you," she said quietly. The name rang a bell in Damian's head. He remembered helping the billionaire out. He was the richest man in the South.“He praised your extraordi
The lady stood her ground, blocking them. She glared at Damian and then Eleanor, shifting between the both of them. Damian guessed that the girl was Eleanor's sister. But, he couldn't tell if she was the younger or the older one. They looked a lot alike and if there was any age difference between them, Damian was sure that it wasn't up to four years. It wasn't until Charlotte grabbed Eleanor's hand and began to beg that Damian guessed she was the younger sister.“Eleanor, you have to do something!” Charlotte insisted. “The doctors are saying that he might not make it till morning. There's still time. We can fly in the best doctor from any country. Please, Eleanor. We can't let Grandfather die.”“It's true, ma'am. We don't think he's going to make it through the night. His body is fighting treatment and it won't be long before it fails him completely.” One of the doctors agreed, stepping forward to tell her.Eleanor pulled her lips into a straight line before she placed her hand on her
Charlotte's eyes widened in disbelief. How was it possible? He got the symptoms without her saying anything to him and he diagnosed her accurately. Was he a wizard? She had so many questions running through her mind as she stared at the man. He was so accurate and it was unexpected. Not only was she in disbelief, she was also embarrassed. Charlotte wasn't known as one who would lose in a fight, but she challenged him and he won in front of everyone. He proved her wrong. She had thought she would have the last laugh and was ready to point an accusing finger at the man who dared say he could treat her grandfather, but he did what no doctor among the other present, could do. But, what if it was all a set up and Eleanor had told him about her symptoms before they got there? There was a possibility that that was what happened. On second thought, Eleanor didn't know how bad her diarrhea was. She doesn't even know she had diarrhea, except for the fact that she complained to her once about h
Dr Mitchell halted and looked at Damien, who was standing beside him. He examined the young man from head to toe and a frown slowly crept to his face. "How dare you tell me to stop?" He questioned, clearly displeased that he was questioned in front of everyone. His ability and skills were questioned and that was what he hated the most. Damien let out a deep breath, relieved that he had noticed the medication before it was administered. "These medications would do more harm to his health," he explained but that got Dr Mitchell pissed off. "Who are you? A doctor? How dare you talk against my knowledge?"Charlotte couldn't keep her anger in anymore. She had tried to control herself when Damien stopped the doctor at first, but she couldn't anymore. She stepped forward and pointed a finger at him. "You don't want my grandfather to get better. This is Dr Mitchell, the best doctor in the southern region and he has more knowledge than you can ever acquire. How dare you stop him from treat
Dr Mitchell's Doctors rushed over to the old man and tried to get him to calm down. It was impossible for them as they had no idea how to calm him down. Although they have been doctors for decades, the old man's sickness was a rare case and it needed precise treatments cause any wrong mistake or wrong medication given to him, would mean his death. The other doctors all looked at Damien, staring at him accusingly. Whatever he had done, got the old man in his situation and it was enough evidence to prove he had a mission. They were all on edge until the old man stopped moving, but his breathing was hagged, and his blood pressure kept dropping. He was still in danger which threatened to take his life in a few minutes. Charlotte stepped forward and pointed her finger at Damien. She pushed him and cried out, "What did you do to my grandfather? This is all your fault. You wanted to kill him and now, you have succeeded!"Damien drew his brows seeing what Dr Mitchell was up to. He warned
The room was left in silence as they all averted their attention to Damien. Dr Mitchell's face was covered in horror and that meant one thing. "No!" Charlotte cried out loud. "No, you killed him!" She stood up and ran to Damien, grabbing his shirt. "How dare you? Why did you do this? What do you want me to do now he's dead?""Please calm down. I wouldn't kill your grandfather," he replied, which didn't sit well with the doctors present. "He has stopped breathing. I can't feel his purse," Dr Mitchell pointed out. It was something they couldn't prevent, but at least, he was happy he wouldn't be accused of killing him. He knew his medication had a hand in his death, but Damien would be the one to get punished for it. All he had to do was make everyone turn against the young man. "He is not dead," Damien answered confidently. He understood their pain, but they were too quick to conclude. Before he could explain further, Charlotte gave him a slap which took him aback. He placed his ha
Dr Mitchell walked forward and checked the old man, trying to see for himself. He was alive and didn't seem to be in danger anymore. His eyes widened, knowing the young man's treatment worked and not his. He remained mute, not knowing what to say.Eleanor placed her hand on her chest in relief. She had lost all hope. She walked forward to her grandfather and fell on her knee before him. "But he is not completely out of danger now," Damien informed, getting their attention to him again. Eleanor quickly stood up and faced him, "What do you need? Just mention it and it would be given to you," she said. Her eyes were filled with hope and trust for Damien. Damien nodded and took a glimpse at the old man. He stared at him for a while before he said, "I don't have the medication with me so I will have to leave to get it ready."She nodded and hurriedly picked up her purse, "Where are you going to? How much do you need? Just let me know and I will provide everything," she answered and brou
Damien's eyes went around, looking at his image on the TV screen while dumbstruck. Dating? 'I am not daring Charlotte,' he wanted to scream out but his words would fall on deaf ears. Everyone in the restaurant had their eyes and ears on the TV, as his name had been mentioned. He averted his gaze to Bianca and saw her watching the news with her eyes widened. 'This news was confirmed to be true after they were spotted being intimate at a restaurant. The clip has been making rounds on the internet. Would they be the couple of the century?' The news went on.Damien fisted his hand in disbelief. Everyone in the restaurant was talking about it, not knowing he was there with them. "The youngest daughter? I thought he would end up with the oldest daughter because they seemed pretty close," he heard a man say."I thought that too, but we never can know the ways of men. He has always loved the youngest and the first was just a friend or business partner," another man seconded. "They are so
Damien's eyes widened at the lawyer's revelation. He remembered what Regina said about telling Bianca not to submit the divorce papers, and he put himself on a fix. It's either Regina told her not to submit it or she did on her own.He let out a loud inhale and fixed his eyes on nothing as he dived into deep thoughts. Regina hates him so much and has always wanted him to leave the family. Getting divorced was a huge relief for her. There was no way she was going to tell Bianca not to submit the divorce paper. She was lying as she always does. "The Calloway's always have a way of putting me in a fix," he muttered and clicked his tongue. His phone beeped and when he saw the name popping on his screen, he hesitated to pick it up. It was Bianca calling. Knowing she was still his wife changed everything for him. He watched the phone ring until it stopped. Letting out a deep breath, he looked away but almost immediately, his phone started ringing again and it was still Bianca calling.
Damien stared at Bianca as Regina's words repeated in his head. Was he truly living a dream? If Bianca didn't submit the divorce, that meant they were still married. He knew Regina would do anything to rile him up, and that made him have a second thought about it. Bianca drew her brows together, in wonder at why they were both staring at her. She glanced at Regina for a second and averted her gaze back to Damien. "What is going on?" She questioned but got no reply. "Damien, what did Regina say to you?" "Why did you think I would say anything to him? He is not that important to me to start a conversation," Regina grumbled. Bianca shot her a glare and wanted to shut her up but Damien spoke first. "I have some patients to attend to."She nodded at him and moved aside. Damien walked out of the room with one question in his head. 'Why didn't she submit the document?'Was she planning to submit it later after being too busy to submit it? So many questions and thoughts, and he got distr
She walked closer and covered a large space between them. She examined him from head to toe and smirked. "Not bad. You changed a lot and I almost did not recognize you. You disappeared after receiving so much help from my grandfather, just to enjoy it all," she accused.Damien drew his brows. He tried to take a step closer but she held up her hand and stopped him. "Don't come closer!"Damien became confused and tried to find out what was going on as she looked so pissed off. He tried going closer but with each step he took, she stepped back. She suddenly laughed out, pointing at his face. "I got you so good. See how confused you look.""I am confused," he said, and she let out a deep breath and walked closer. "I was only playing a prank on you to pretend to be angry but not really. It's so good you fell," she jumped and clapped her hands like a little child who got the snacks she always wanted. He laughed and shook his head, understanding what the prank was about. "Anyway, what a
Regina looked at Damien with a frown on his face. "How did I get here?" She questioned with disbelief lacing her voice. She averted her gaze to Bianca and clenched her jaw. "Did you bring me here? I thought I made it clear that I don't want to have anything to do with Damien William?"Bianca frowned and stood up, "What are you talking about, Regina? What is wrong with you?""Why did you bring me here?" She raised her voice, with annoyance resonating from her tone. Bianca rubbed her neck in frustration. Regina hasn't changed even after experiencing a life-threatening sickness. "You came in here yourself. I was called by Damien who told me you were here. Have you forgotten all these?""Liar!" Regina accused. "Why would I come to the hospital I hate so much to be treated by the man I don't want to see at all?"Bianca rolled her eyes and sat down. "What's your problem, Regina? Right after you wake up, you are about to bring this hospital down." She let out a deep breath and looked at he
Damian and Bianca found themselves in Regina’s hospital room. The tension in the air was palpable, but neither of them wanted to leave the other’s side. Damian stood by the monitors, adjusting a few settings, while Bianca sat in the corner, her hands folded tightly in her lap.“How’s she doing?” Bianca asked softly, her eyes flickering to her sister’s pale face.“She’s stable for now,” Damian replied, his tone professional. “But her condition is still critical. If the treatment I’m testing doesn’t work, we’ll need to consider more drastic measures.”Bianca bit her lip, her gaze dropping to her hands. “I never thought I’d see her like this. Regina’s always been so... untouchable. Seeing her vulnerable like this... it’s hard.”Damian walked over, placing a reassuring hand on her shoulder. “She’s strong, Bianca. She’ll fight through this. And I’ll do everything in my power to help her.”She looked up at him, her eyes filled with gratitude. “Thank you, Damian. For everything. I know Regin
Damien was taken aback by her sudden request. A date? He wanted to ask about it but she suddenly laughed and waved her hand. "I was just joking. I wanted to see the look on your face and you didn't disappoint. You look so shocked," she laughed mockingly. Damien pursed his lips and nodded. He was taken aback and wasn't expecting her to ask for a date. "You did take me by surprise. I wondered if I had heard someone else speak," he answered. She laughed again and when she had a fill, she shook her head. "Anyway, I want to ask for dinner instead. I want to thank you for everything you did for Regina. You have it all, so a gift would just be added to your collections. This is the only appreciative way I can think of."Damien looked at his wristwatch and drew in a deep breath, "I don't think I will be able to make it. My schedule is filled up today. I have missed a lot of meetings and events for the hospital. I need to work on them."Bianca twisted her lips, feeling disappointed and at t
Bianca's heart skipped a beat seeing how serious he was. She sat up and swallowed down lumps in her throat. "Is she… is she gonna die?" She questioned.Damien shook his head to her relief and he answered, "We have to keep hoping she wakes up. The surgery was successful and right now, we will continue with the treatments."Bianca sniffed and drew back. She couldn't stop her tears from flowing. She swallowed the lump in her throat and lowered her head. "I thought… I thought… you wanted to tell me… about her death," she sniffed. Damien shook his head and faced her, "She survived it. You know your sister, she has always been a fighter."She nodded and lifted her eyes to look at him, "But what problem are you talking about? Did you discover something else? Would she be alright soon?" She questioned at once, with anxiety resonating in her voice. "The problem is that she would be staying in the hospital for a much longer time than intended. Her treatment would be a gradual process," She an
They both stared at each other reminiscing the sweet moments between them. The sweet moments they had forgotten. Realizing they were staring too much, Damien cleared his throat and looked away while Bianca lowered her gaze. "It is late. You should rest. I will be going back to my apartment," he said to her and she quickly nodded. "Drive safely," she said and rushed in. Damien stared at the closed door and curled up the corners of his lips. "I guess this would be a new chapter," he whispered and walked away, going back to his office to get ready for his apartment. He drove back to his apartment and in no time, he fell asleep. …Damien glanced at his wristwatch for the tenth time since he came to the hospital, and he groaned. He walked into his office and grabbed his white coat before he hurried out of the room. A doctor who was walking towards his office quickly walked to him with a sigh of relief. "I was coming to your office to check if you were there," he said and started wa
