Chapter 5: Leveling up the Grade of Magic

Rod’s words made me crash to the ground. It felt like someone poured cold water on me. When I heard that my golden goose could help me alter the levels of anything, I was on cloud nine.

I know it’s not worth arguing with him. So I proceeded to ask questions.

“Rod, what’s the use of that database? It’s only empty.”

[Oh, it sure is now, but it will be permanently saved in the database once you learn something. You’ll never forget anything that you have learned.]

“That sure sounds nice, but I don’t think I can learn much in such a short time. Even the magicians at the pinnacle live utmost for two hundred years. So it’s not much use.”

[Hahaha, you sure make me laugh. The magicians at the pinnacle live for thousands of years]. Rod laughed as if he had heard the joke of the century.

“What do you mean by that?”

[The magicians whom you think are at the pinnacle haven’t reached the pinnacle stage, they barely set foot out of the Primary Realm. Hearing when you said pinnacle magicians, I couldn’t do but laugh.]

“So there are levels above Level-9?”

[That you have to discover for yourself. I already revealed more than I should.]

“Okay, I have one last question.”

[Speak.]

“How many tabs are there in the interface of the system?”

[It depends on you.]

“Can you elaborate?”

[Oh, I thought that was your last question. Is it not?]

Fuck, why did I say it’s my last question?

Suddenly Rod laughed, [Don’t worry, boy, even if that’s not your last question, I can’t elaborate much. The tabs that get unlocked are based on you and yourself.]

“Hmm, Rod, I have no other questions now.”

[Good, then I’ll take my leave then. Remember, I can only return when something of great importance happens or your death.]

Fuck.

After Rod disappeared, well, whatever word for an appearance which has no appearance left, I went down for dinner.

Mary cooked my favorite, fried prawns for dinner. I would say, though I lost my parents, I have Thomas and Mary, who filled their jobs and that of my parents.

Though they refer to me as ‘Young Master’ when in public, they agreed to call me by name only when we were alone after pestering them for a long time.

After I had my fill, I went back to my room and checked the system interface.

After reading many novels where the Main Character was given a system to help him reach the heavens, I didn’t need to be spoon-fed. So I only asked Rod questions about things I had doubts about.

On the interface, I can see there is an attribute called ‘Level Alter Points’, and beside it is ‘Cool down.’

I believe those points are refreshed every 24 hrs, or new points are added to it. Damn, why did I forget about this?

I should check this later.

My level upgrade is locked; it seems I have to achieve something for it to unlock. From the magical studies, body attributes can be increased with either physical exercises or by increasing the Magic level.

Innate skills are a level more powerful than the caster. It means that when at level-1, the power exerted by the Innate Skill would be as powerful as level-2 skill. The Innate skill can’t be used without reaching level-1, and I do intend to keep it secret for now.

Not every magician is granted such skill. The ones with such talent will reach the pinnacle. I would have celebrated, but after hearing Rod’s words, the pinnacle we knew was just the starting of magic.

The only thing I can level up now is the grade of my magic. It’s too low, so I have to upgrade it before I try to form the orbit and satellite.

The magic crystal formed is like a planet, and when we form orbits and satellites, we can cast spells. While casting, the satellites revolve around the crystal, converting Mana into whatever spell we are casting. Still, the spells should be related to the crystal.

The speed of revolution and the radius of the orbit determine the power of the spell cast. Each caster has its own numbers.

Now let’s move to click the + sign beside the grade. Since my grade is Yellow, in order to achieve Violet, I needed to upgrade my grade four times. I did that by clicking the + sign four times. Every time my grade changed, there was a notification.

‘Congratulations, your grade upgraded to Green.’

‘Congratulations, your grade upgraded to Blue.’

‘Congratulations, your grade upgraded to Indigo.’

‘Congratulations, your grade upgraded to Violet.’

I was happy when I heard the last notification.

Hmm, why is it still showing the + sign? Violet is the highest grade, so I thought the sign would disappear once the grade reached violet grade.

Is there a grade above Violet?

Should I click it again?

I am not sure whether to click it or not, but I proceed to click it.

Huh? I never heard of purple. Violet is probably the highest ever manifested in this world among humans.

The shock is not the Purple Grade, but the + sign is still visible.

If this is not the end of grades, then what is?

How many more are there?

Damn, I only had five points. If only my grade was Violet, I would have four more points.

Well, what is the use of crying over spilled milk?

Now I have to wait till tomorrow to experiment with it. Damn, again for forgetting if there is a way to increase those points. Damn it. Damn it. Damn it.
