Chapter 6: Magic grade reaching the Peak

Now that I can’t do anything, I’ll just sleep for tonight. Anyhow my original plan didn’t involve me meditating so that I could form orbit and satellite.

Now that I need to wait so that my points refill, and then I can check if there are grades above Purple.

Now that there wasn’t anything for me to do, I quickly fell asleep on my bed.

---

I woke up early in the morning and did my daily exercises. What many magicians do is not work on their bodies. A magician increases his physique whenever he reaches a new level, so that is what everyone does, and this is their weakness.

Compared to other warriors, a magician’s body is weak. There are few who use weapons embued with magic, who had to work on their physique. Usually, these are the ones who happened to have low magic grades.

When I do these, everyone will be thinking me as someone weak. Either they bully me or don’t pay any attention.

I won’t care for those latter guys even if they are dying, but the ones who bully would feel my wrath.

Now that my exercises are over, I should check if the points are refilled.

Hmm, there seemed no change in the points. The cool-down timer does show 24 hours; does that mean the refill will happen after the points reach zero. I will till night and see what happens.

If nothing happens, I will proceed with the plan I devised.

My grade is already purple, so I guess my power and growth would be great. So even if I don’t rely on the Level Alter Points, I can still become a powerful magician.

After that, I went downstairs for breakfast. I quickly had my breakfast, as today begins the path of my revenge.

Before my mother and father died, they left a lot of money and treasures they found for me in case something happened to them.

I intended to use them, but there is a chance that the system will be more than helpful in my path.

Though I have no need to use treasures, I still need skills.

I went to the underground basement, where these are stored. I dug them out of the place where we buried those years ago.

Let’s check the boxes for skills. Hmm, there are Fire skills, Wind Skills, Lightning, Water, huh, there it is, Ice skills.

I quickly placed back all other skills except for the Ice skills, which have some of the Ice Skills used by mom.

Let’s take these to my room for now.

Let’s check the artifacts to pass the time until the night. There are indeed a good number of treasures obtained by mother and father in all their years.

Looking at them, I remembered the memories of them. I remembered their happiness when I laughed, their protection when I was scared, and their assurance when I was down. Every memory with them buried deep down started to play in front of my eyes.

Though they are not my real parents and I never met them, I missed them a lot.

Placing back the artifacts, I went up and told Thomas and Mary to make nice lunch so that I eat to my heart full. I also informed them that I would enter seclusion and I should not be disturbed.

I originally intended to wait till night to see if my Level Alter points would be refilled, but after remembering the memories of my parents, I felt anger, sadness, and frustration.

They died for the city, protecting many innocents, but they dared to drag my parents’ names through the mud. They will pay the price.

When I was wallowing, a notification sound came.

It is back to five points. Wait, it’s noon, around the time the system first appeared. So it seems that the points are refilled at noon.

Let’s up my magic grade a few more times.

‘Congratulations, your grade upgraded to Gray.’

‘Congratulations, your grade upgraded to White.’

‘Congratulations, your grade upgraded to Black.’

I leveled the grade three times, and then the + sign disappeared, and only the – sign was visible. It looks like my grade is now at its peak.

Ding!

‘Congratulations, you completed the hidden mission; REACH THE PRE-EMINENT GRADE.’

‘Congratulations, you are rewarded 20 shop points.

‘Congratulations, you are rewarded the EYE OF VISION.’

‘Congratulations, you are rewarded Book of Ancient Runes.’

‘Congratulations, you are rewarded Book of Ancient Formations.’

Hmm, a hidden mission. Nice. Rod did say that I get shop points for completing missions. It looks like there are other rewards as well. Let’s check them first.

[EYE OF VISION: It is a divine eye that grants one to see everything. The wielder can see everything about their enemies. The only disadvantage is that the enemy should be of the same species. There are ways to overcome this problem.

Moreover, the eye grants 10X the vision of the wielder. It can peer through any obstacle unless the obstruction is of divine origin. To overcome this, the user should be powerful enough.

An added bonus of discerning what people are talking about even when the wielder can’t hear the conversation as long as they know the language.]

[Book of Ancient Runes: A book filled with details of ancient runes. This helps anyone to easily learn the ancient’s language. It is said that the ancients were an advanced civilization where magic and a forgotten branch called science were mixed.]

[Book of Ancient Formations: A book filled with formations created by ancients. Rumors say that these formations can be so powerful to withstand attacks of gods. The book was written in Ancient Runes; one needs to learn the language to successfully understand these formations.]

While I was contemplating the rewards, I heard the sound of an announcement again.

Ding!

Mission: - Investigate the beast tide and the death of your parents.

Time limit: No limit

Rewards: God Soul upgrade

What the hell was that? A new mission appeared, but Rod said that missions only appear after the missions tab is available at level-2. I’m happy that a mission appeared before that ridiculous requirement was fulfilled. On top of that, the mission states to inquire about the beast tide and my parents’ death. Does that mean there is foul play? I had my doubts about their deaths. From what I know, they killed a lot of overlord beasts before, one on one. Sure the lord beasts would trouble them with their numbers but for both of them to die at the same time felt wrong. The fight happened right outside the city. Even if one of them were injured, the other would have pulled both to the healers at the walls. They could have been healed and joined the fight again. The members of major families would have filled their spots for a time since the elders of those families are on par with my parents’ strength. Added to that, Thomas found out that the families were behind the rumors about my par

It fucking hurts. Damn, I forgot about that. They give us incredible power but only after causing the MC pain. How the hell does one survive such pain? After a few minutes of tormenting, the pain finally subsided, and I fell to the floor. When I woke up, it was already late evening. Damn, I was unconscious for hours; if this happens out in the wild, I sure will die. It’s better to use any reward when I’m in a safe zone. Now let’s check what the eye does. I went and stood in front of the mirror. Hmm, there is no change. If I remember, eye color changes but not necessarily. From the description, the vision gets enhanced; let’s check. I went to the window and looked at the city. There is nothing new. Did the eye fail? Maybe I have to say magic words? I started to say some random words. ‘Activate’ ‘Begin’ ‘Open Sesame’ Maybe I should say the name. ‘Eye of Vision, activate.’ Suddenly the vision changed. I could see through the walls and see what people could do. I shifted my sig

I should concentrate on the low-level part of the book, which is meant for beginners like me, or I may become brain-dead if I try to read the levels which aren’t meant for me. Of course, casting powerful spells requires a large amount of Mana, but as far anyone knows, there are only one or two Level-1 spells that require huge Mana and none of them are of Ice element. Chapter 17: Academy Begins

The Next Morning I woke up early to do routine body exercises. Though I can increase my stats with points, if I stay lazy and don’t do things, my body will go stiff. I’ll become a statue that moves in one direction. I would be the easiest moving target in history. It’s not the only reason, I should keep up appearances. If I appear lazy and suddenly grew stronger, everyone will suspect that I have treasured. All eyes will turn towards me. Before becoming strong, I need to keep the stronger eyes away. If they see that I was improving like every other magician, they won’t pay much attention. When I become the strongest, even if they think that I possess treasures, they can’t hurt me in any way. After my exercises, I took bath to clean myself and put on the new academic wear. The clothes have runes, which adjusted to our bodies pretty easily. This would reduce the need to buy new clothes every time the body has slight improvement. This is one of my recent concerns. After I started

When I looked around, I saw that everyone was getting into formation. While this was happening, I saw that there is an old man standing in front of us. Seeing them both Claire and I followed suit. As everyone stood in formation, the old man spoke, “Welcome to the THORN HILL MAGICAL ACADEMY. My name is Rupert Dyne and I work here as the HEADMASTER.” When the students heard that everyone gasped. Rupert Dyne is one of the legends that are alive. He is a Level-9 Magician but some say he crossed that level. There are rumors of levels that are beyond Level-9 but they remained rumors. No one came out and said that they crossed to a level beyond Level-9. So the realms that lay beyond stayed in the rumors realm. I shouldn’t think about that for now. The only way to confirm is to first become a Level-9 Magician. Anything else can wait for now. “I know many of you have arrived from far places and you are tired, so I’ll keep my speech simple. Chapter 15: Leaving and Arriving

I told Mary and Thomas to be careful on the morning of my departure. One reason my home was safe was because of the association. It’s not like they cared about my safety, but they didn’t want the city to think that the safety of the people was compromised. Even though there are many who see me with disgust, there are few who don’t believe in those rumors. If something happened to me in the city, a small spark could burn the image of the association. Now that I leave for the academy, they don’t need to be concerned deeply about my safety. I repeatedly told them not to wander far and never at night. If someone comes to visit, don’t let them inside at any cost. They understood my concern. Even for others, my grade is Yellow; my performance has definitely caught their eyes, though I tried to avoid that. If they see me as a threat, they would certainly make a move against Mary and Thomas or against me. I need to control what others could be able to see. I think I shouldn’t have increas
