What the hell was that? A new mission appeared, but Rod said that missions only appear after the missions tab is available at level-2.
I’m happy that a mission appeared before that ridiculous requirement was fulfilled. On top of that, the mission states to inquire about the beast tide and my parents’ death.
Does that mean there is foul play? I had my doubts about their deaths. From what I know, they killed a lot of overlord beasts before, one on one. Sure the lord beasts would trouble them with their numbers but for both of them to die at the same time felt wrong.
The fight happened right outside the city. Even if one of them were injured, the other would have pulled both to the healers at the walls. They could have been healed and joined the fight again.
The members of major families would have filled their spots for a time since the elders of those families are on par with my parents’ strength.
Added to that, Thomas found out that the families were behind the rumors about my parents. Why would they do that to someone who died? Unless they had something to hide.
Now with the mission from the system, I’m sure that there is something fishy about the beast tide.
I’ll investigate what really transcribed back then, and once I find the culprits, there would be hell to pay.
Right now, I have to wait patiently for a chance. For now, I am not strong enough to go against those assholes. So I would start my investigation once I’m at least strong enough to survive their vicious plots.

I still have two more points. I think I should increase my stats before I go into seclusion. Most of these are not helpful as of right now, but Essence is.
The Essence of a magician determines the radius of the orbit. The highest recorded Essence stat is 3, and most people have only 1 point. According to the association, any magician to have 2 points that make them a genius.
The Essence doubles as we level up. If a person is born with 1 point, when he reaches level-2, the points will be doubled and become 2. It doubles again when he reaches level-3, and the new essence points will be 4. The process goes on.
Though many magicians have the same number of essence points, the radius changes depending on the grade of magic and intellect.
The intellect plays a minor role, while essence points and grade of magic play a significant role.
It’s decided I have to increase both Intellect and Essence, but the first priority is for Essence.
I clicked the + sign beside the Essence twice.
‘Congratulations, your Essence increased by 1 point.’
‘Congratulations, your Essence increased by 1 point.’

There is still the + sign on the interface. Maybe I should postpone the meditation until tomorrow. I need every advantage I can get. Right now, I’m sure that increasing Essence to its limits will definitely cover the loss of a day and would give better results.
It’s decided then; I’ll wait for one more day till tomorrow afternoon and then start on meditation to become a magician.
Until then, I have the rewards of completing a hidden mission. I have to see what I can do with that. Before doing that, I should inform Thomas and Mary that I didn’t go into seclusion.
I informed them about the seclusion and gave them the reason they believed. They were not happy that I was missing a day of meditation which is a waste of the day before the recruitment day.
Indeed, starting today, we have exactly 30 days before we become a magician, or else we lose our chance to gain a spot in the Pearl City Magical Academy. It only gives us a chance to become a student, but nothing is guaranteed. Only Violet grade magicians have a guaranteed spot.
The others have to go through trials before they are accepted.
There are other magical academies in the city, but these are considered lesser academies as they can’t compete with Pearl City Magical Academy in any aspect.
As the saying goes, beggars can’t be choosers. Those who can’t get into it have no choice but choice other academies.
Now my goal is to impress the recruiters and gain a seat at that academy. Even though I’m sure those assholes from old school will get into the academy, their families make huge donations to the academy, which makes the academy theirs to use as they wish.
I have two plans to get back on those assholes that caused my life miserable. I’ll get a seat at that academy and use their resources to get strong and beat them up.
If my first plan fails, I have a backup plan. I’ll join the academy that hates the Pearl City magical academy the most. I’ll make sure to get their support and burn those assholes.
If both of my plans fail, it’s not a bother. I now have the system, my golden goose. Once I reach Level-2, I’ll get proper missions from it and will have a way to buy items from the shop, which will change everything.
One way or another, I will have my revenge.
For now, I should see what these rewards will give me.
The first one I should check is the eye. From the novels I read, whenever the MC gets something that says eye, they put it on one of their eyes, and it will merge with the MC’s eye and upgrades it.
Let’s check that out. I took out the eye and placed it over my left eye. The reason is simple,...
Oww, oww, Fuck, it hurts. It fucking hurts.
It fucking hurts. Damn, I forgot about that. They give us incredible power but only after causing the MC pain. How the hell does one survive such pain? After a few minutes of tormenting, the pain finally subsided, and I fell to the floor. When I woke up, it was already late evening. Damn, I was unconscious for hours; if this happens out in the wild, I sure will die. It’s better to use any reward when I’m in a safe zone. Now let’s check what the eye does. I went and stood in front of the mirror. Hmm, there is no change. If I remember, eye color changes but not necessarily. From the description, the vision gets enhanced; let’s check. I went to the window and looked at the city. There is nothing new. Did the eye fail? Maybe I have to say magic words? I started to say some random words. ‘Activate’ ‘Begin’ ‘Open Sesame’ Maybe I should say the name. ‘Eye of Vision, activate.’ Suddenly the vision changed. I could see through the walls and see what people could do. I shifted my sig
The book is divided into three parts; low level, mid-level, and high level. The low-level part is for beginners, and from the description, mid and high levels are out of my reach for now. I should concentrate on the low-level part of the book, which is meant for beginners like me, or I may become brain-dead if I try to read the levels which aren’t meant for me. As I got immersed in these two books, time flew by. Nine more days were gone before I even got to start my meditation to become a magician. That means I have twenty more days to become a magician and learn a skill to perform on recruitment day. This made Thomas and Mary worry about me. They only calmed down after my assurance that everything would be fine. I know they only appeared to be calm, but their hearts were not. During these nine days, I used the points to increase my Essence and Intellect while trying to understand the magical formation. Yes, Essence stopped increasing after reaching the value of nine. I solely use
Ten days later Ah, finally, I’m now a magician. I left the formation and pulled out the cores. I felt some energy still inside the cores. It seems Level-1 cores can be used once as the formation needs a lot of energy to start. Once the formation was released, the energy dispersed, and everything became normal. I released my aura to see if there were any differences, and indeed there were. My aura seemed a bit stronger than that of others I felt before. It felt as if I broke to Level-3, probably because of my grade and essence. I shouldn’t flaunt to others as it only invites trouble. For now, I should keep my aura in check. It would be a trump card to be used on my enemies. Suddenly a notification sound came. Ding! ‘Congratulations, you completed the hidden mission, BECOME A MAGICIAN.’ ‘Congratulations, you are rewarded 20 shop points. ‘Congratulations, you are rewarded the EYE OF POWER.’ ‘Congratulations, you are rewarded Book of Ancient Bloodlines.’ ‘Congratulations, you ar
Tonight I need rest; I’ll think about what to do next after I wake up. With that, I fell into a deep slumber. --- “Amerus, are you sure about this?” “Yes, Markus. As I said before, we are here to choose champions who would stand above all. What you lot are doing but spoon-feeding your candidates.” “We do know that, but what can we do. We don’t have much time. He is coming.” “Exactly, for that reason, our champions had to be strong and independent. I’ll show my champion a path to become strong. Nothing more, nothing less.” “Whatever, it is your champion. I agree with you, but you intend to go extreme. It may hinder your champion.” Hearing them, the old man Amerus snorted. To him, someone to reach the peak of existence has to be strong and independent without help from anyone. --- ‘Yawn’ It was noon when I woke up. My body felt relaxed, and the stress was gone. For ten days, I didn’t have a good sleep. Some consider Meditation is better for the body than sleep, but I contradic
Now that I escaped the horror narrowly, I should check what the shop has for me to buy. ‘SHOP’ What the Damn Hell? Why are these so costly? The moment I opened the shop section, I felt like I was cheated. The items looked good, but the prices were unbelievable. The Cheapest items are the Bronze class weapons, and they cost no less than 100 points each. I only got 40 points in total after completing two hidden missions. If this goes on like that, I need to complete at least 5 missions in order to afford a Bronze class weapon. I’m sad not because I couldn’t afford those Bronze class weapons but thinking about the rates of Silver class or Gold class weapons. Their prices would for sure reach the sky. Moreover, from their descriptions, the quality seems to be very high than those of weapons I have seen before. They also offer buffs to the wielder, which only armors did. Weapons are for ignoring the enemy’s defense and killing, not increasing the wielder’s power. I need to get my han
I used all the points I acquired during these ten days to increase my Mana capacity. After all, the more Mana one has, the more spells one can cast. Above that, there isn’t a device to determine one’s Mana. Only the magician can estimate the number. I’ll be safe as they won’t check the number of spells cast. Of course, casting powerful spells requires a large amount of Mana, but as far anyone knows, there are only one or two Level-1 spells that require huge Mana and none of them are of Ice element. I want the attention of recruiters, not everyone’s attention. If I perform too well, it would be like I’m inviting problems myself. ‘Status’ -- Name: Damon Oswyn Age: 16 Race: Human Shop Points: 40 Level Alter points: 0; Cool-down: 24 hours Level: 1 (Locked) Orbit-1: 1 Affinity: Ice Grade: Black Innate skill: Ice Dragon Level-1 Skills: Ice Breath Level-1 , Ice Field Level-1 Weapons: None Health: 32 (+10) Strength: 16
I walked to the open space to demonstrate what I’m to these buggers so that I have a chance to be recruited by the top academies. I walked back to my position, I could hear everyone mumbling, but many were surprised that I could seamlessly use a skill. It is not something many achieved at this point in time. As I returned to my position, the day progressed without many excitements. At the end of the day, the principal posted our names list with the academies that were interested in us. I checked mine first and saw that only one academy was interested in me, and it was not even in the top three. I checked other student names, and though the top academy recruited fewer students or no students, the other two were eager to get many students. Pearl City Magic Academy, I can understand, but what about the other two? Why didn’t they offer to recruit me? It wasn’t my grade because one of the students with a grade the same as me got the offer. I even performed better than him, better than
I told Mary and Thomas to be careful on the morning of my departure. One reason my home was safe was because of the association. It’s not like they cared about my safety, but they didn’t want the city to think that the safety of the people was compromised. Even though there are many who see me with disgust, there are few who don’t believe in those rumors. If something happened to me in the city, a small spark could burn the image of the association. Now that I leave for the academy, they don’t need to be concerned deeply about my safety. I repeatedly told them not to wander far and never at night. If someone comes to visit, don’t let them inside at any cost. They understood my concern. Even for others, my grade is Yellow; my performance has definitely caught their eyes, though I tried to avoid that. If they see me as a threat, they would certainly make a move against Mary and Thomas or against me. I need to control what others could be able to see. I think I shouldn’t have increas
