Unveiling himself from the shade of the nearby building was a man whose feature hidden behind an emerald painted full mask. The mask resembled an expression of someone laughing and angry at the same time, while the attire the figure wore was a dark green trench coat.
A similarly colored golf hat sat on top of his head as one of his hands gripped what appeared to be a fireman hatchet. His piercing amber gaze glowed under the darkness, giving a shuddering aura to those stare at him.
"You…"
As if he knew the identity of the masked figure, the hooded man took a step forward and let go of the stump that used to be his arm. His other hand was pointing to the masked figure. Ready to unleash myriads of attacks if he needs it.
<The smell of the cigarette permeated the room while the breezing winds from a small fan caused it to spread thoroughly. Stacks of papers full of scribbles and pieces of photos from newspapers were pinned on a whiteboard, which every single one had a long red thread connected to another piece of picture or a piece of a newspaper section. The first thing that came to Elizabeth's mind was a classic detective movie she had watched. There were even some antiques that would be hard to find these days, such as a rotary dial, typewriter, and even the old CRT. It was as if Elizabeth had entered a museum instead of someone's house."This is… quite an interesting place," commented Elizabeth with excitement evident in her eyes, "How do you get all of these items? Even my dad hasn't had them ever since he graduated from high sc
"A murderer...?"Giving a second look to the masked figure, Elizabeth put on a complex expression while she observed the situation. Meanwhile, Kevin, who took Elizabeth's silence as her being afraid, swiftly tried to shield her more so than before. At the same time he also stared down the figure before him. Waiting for the slightest movement for him to attack."A murderer?" seemingly confused with the statement, the masked figure probed, "Do you mean the hooded guy from before? That was your doing, wasn't it?""Don't act innocent here," still maintaining his wariness and caution, Kevin responded, "I've seen your mask and attire back in Verdan city. You murdered the members of Sacred Heart, along with some police officers and civilians a few months ago, didn't you
"...An ally of Aaron?"Widening her eyes, Elizabeth probed further, "Then, is it really true that Aaron is in this area? Both of us should meet each other right about now. But… As you know, there were some circumstances.""Meeting with Aaron in this place?" making a thinking gesture, the masked figure shook his head, "Aaron didn't come to this city. If he did, I would be the first to know. He went to 'That' plane in order to track the Sacred Heart's headquarters."This time, it was Kevin who immediately interjected, "Wait, wait. The headquarters of the Sacred Heart? Where is 'That Plane' you are talking about?""Oh?" moving his eyes to Kevin, the figure replied, "Is that information attracting your interest,
"Targeted…" connecting the dots in his head, Kevin questioned, "By the Sacred Heart's members? Why?""How should I know?" answered Elizabeth without skipping a beat, as if she had already predicted the question, "But if what Aaron had said, the man who had fought with the Sacred Heart members and saved twice from them, was true. Then, that's more reason for me to go. I… Want the truth and a cure.""Aaron…" muttering the name softly, Kevin then shook his head and said, "No, it's too dangerous. Elizabeth, what's it that you wanted to know and cure for? You don't have to go to wherever this secret plane was to search for the cure.""You mean… Going to the hospital?" looking downcast, Elizabeth replied, "It's no use, I've done that. As for the dangero
Rose up to the sitting position in wariness, Elizabeth looked over her surroundings in wariness. Instinctively, she blurted out of surprise as she knew full well that she should be the only person within the room."Who!?"Unsurprisingly, there was no answer. Gazing at the door, she could see that the door and the latch were locked. Though the room's light bulb might be the old one which reflected yellowish glows, it was still more than bright enough to illuminate every corner of the place.'...Is it my imagination?' mused Elizabeth after she found no sign of life in the room beside her.Suddenly, the light bulb right on the middle of the ceiling was flickering incessantly. Amidst the short period o
It was nearly midnight, and the night sky was picturesque. A black to navy gradient was the backdrop for a full moon. The night sky was so clear you could see almost every sparkling star beyond the infinite space through the translucent window. There, Elizabeth gazed upon the full moon with a blank expression plastered all over her face. Her chin laid on top of her hand, a soft sigh of resignation flowed out of her lips with memories of the long past months surfaced one by one.The night she was attacked by a mythical creature called a wraith. Something Elizabeth had asked from Iron Veil for the whole day. Fortunately, the latter was patient enough to listen to her ignorant and incessant questions. Kevin, who wasn't that far from them, would join in and listen on the side. As she dragged her feets on the tiled floor, her eyes became more glazed the closer she was to the door. Yet, at the last second, with her hand was about to reach the door's handle, a voice came to her mind.'"Follow the door."'It snapped her out of her reverie in an instant. Recalling the familiar voice of the unknown figure, suspicion flooded her head and she realized what had happened to her. Immediately, she backed down and tried to gain some distance between her and the mysterious door.'The heck, I almost touched it without thinking. What's wrong with me?'Giving the door a second look, Elizabeth squinted her eyes and wandered her eyes around. There was only the door in the middle of the rooDark Eater Chapter 96 - Gallery
Her eyelids twitched gently as a bright, scarlet light filled her vision. Rousing her up while the faint warm breeze touched her skin. For a moment, she felt a nostalgic longing rushing to her head. Yet, the second she opened her eyes, it faded faster than she knew. As if it was just a brief, fleeting feeling. Then, an unfamiliar ceiling greeted her view with its glinting symbols strewn into a very long, crimson cloth. The golden thread was strewn into a small diamond symbol which decorated most of the ceilings systemically. On both sides, there were rows of lamps, hanging right below the ceilings and stretched out towards the end of the corridor. A corridor that was filled with paintings on both sides of the walls.Every painting would have some kind of carvings around the edges, with all of them painted in gold. The drawing i
