Chapter 20
Neil didn’t expect to walk into her home with her. It was just a walk, he convinced himself. The evening was nice and he could tell the day only went better.

“So do you have hope about the case?” He asked her.

She stopped before her entrance.

“With the recent dead ends, not really.”

One of the neighbors approached her with an apple. She thanked her and took a bite.

“I promise you, unless we know Melanie’s past and those she hung out with, we cannot know. Only Melanie can tell who killed her.”

Neil didn’t like her response. He plunged his hands in his pocket.

“As a detective, you shouldn’t be that negative.”

“I have no other choice. All we get here is dead ends. The men harassing the girls have nothing to do with Melanie.”

“Did you try to match their DNA?”

“There is no dna. He didn’t leave any clue, Neil. But no criminal is that careful. I am sure he left something. Melanie must have a hint somehow.”
