Chapter 58

Before placing the box on the end of the table that was opposite the window, Lucian opened the box with care while simultaneously examining it in his hands. He reasoned that there was probably sufficient room for it there, so that was his conclusion. Lucian took the sculpture from where it had been hidden while it was still covered in the fabric that had been protecting it. After resealing the box containing the cloth, he then positioned his phoenix on top of it to ensure that it would be preserved in some fashion while also providing a dim light that could be seen from where he was standing.

After some time had passed, a grin broke out on his face. This was the very first item that Lucian has ever been able to buy something with money in which had acquired solely through his own efforts. (However, Lucian desperately needed the money, he decided against counting the bribe.)
