Chapter 014: Is it serious?

A man in a red suit stopped his steps. He glanced down at where the debt system was being held. Coincidentally, he was on the third floor of an unused building in that place, so he could see the field clearly.

His eyes looked so serious looking at one of the participants in the center. His lips curled up, forming a wide smile that looked terrifying.

"Sir?" One of the raven masked guards turned his head as his "boss" stopped his steps.

"Hm?"

"What are you looking at?"

The man in the red suit turned to the guard, then looked again at the person on the field.

"I'm watching the eye of the storm."

The guard tilted his face. Under the mask he wore, there was an expression of obvious confusion. His mouth was open to say something, but for some reason, not a single word came out of his mouth.

The man in the red suit asked again when his subordinate made no sound, breaking the awkward atmosphere between the two. "Why are you silent? Don't you want to ask about what I just said?"

The guard shook his head. He wore a faint smile, so faint that it could not be seen clearly. "No, sir. I don't have the authority to ask that."

The man in the red suit made a disappointed face. His smile faded, along with his deeply furrowed brow. "Ah, I see."

"Yes, sir,"

"But you seem to be very curious about the eye of the storm I spoke of, don't you?"

The guard did not say a word. He wanted to know the continuation of his boss's words.

"Just ask what you want to ask."

The guard looked doubtful. He glanced the other way, reluctant to meet the boss's gaze, so domineering and intimidating.

"Is it okay?"

"Yes."

"Then...." The guard took a deep breath before finally speaking up again. "What eyes of the storm are you referring to?"

The man in the red suit laughed loudly with a broken sound. His voice sounded strange, like that of a broken robot. This made the guard shiver on the spot. He even took two steps back in fear.

"So, you're curious about the eye of the storm?" He asked between laughs.

"Yes, sir."

The man in the red suit stopped laughing. He brushed his hair back, exposing his forehead, where a scar extended from the right to the left. On the left eye, there was a noticeable burn, in stark contrast to his pale skin color.

"Sir, that wound..."

The man smiled broadly, revealing his sharp canines. "It's from the 'eye of the storm' I saw over there," he pointed at one of the participants standing in the center.

However, because the guard had an eye problem, namely nearsightedness, he could not clearly see what his superior was pointing at.

"And that man... he'll have to pay dearly for what he's done!"

"Throw a catch?"

Everyone frowned as they heard the second mission about to be carried out.

Marissa nodded quickly, with a big smile still on her beautiful face. "Yes, throwing the ball. You guys used to do that back in school, right?"

"Does this make sense?" One of the participants from the other team began to question. He put on a frivolous smile with an arrogant face. "I thought this mission would be more difficult than the first one. Apparently, I had too many expectations."

Melissa glanced at Zayne, who was already wearing a grin. As for X, the man chose to close his eyes with a flat expression. His red eyes were looking at one point, which was at Terry whispering to Ben.

"Oh, so the mission we gave you was too easy?" Marissa asked. She put her index finger in front of her lips, putting on an innocent expression.

"Yes, of course," the man sighed rudely with a dismissive laugh. "If it's just throwing and catching a ball, anyone can do it?"

"Is that so?" Marissa scratched the back of her head awkwardly, but the smile still remained on her beautiful face. "Well then, good luck with this mission. Because this mission will determine whether you will have breakfast or not."

Marissa put the mic back in its place, then walked over to the gong on the left side of the stage. After that, she took her bat and hit the gong with all her might.

The sound of the beating gong was so loud that it was deafening to those who heard it. Terry, who was sensitive to loud noises, reflexively covered his ears with his hands. He closed his eyes as he crouched down, trying to relieve the dizziness that was now racking his head.

Seeing that, Ben, who was next to Terry, also squatted down, then rubbed Terry's back gently.

"Are you okay, Terry?"

Terry opened his eyes, then lowered his hands from his ears. After that, he looked at Ben with a forced smile. "Yeah, I'm fine."

Ben looked doubtful at his first friend's answer. "Are you sure? Your face looks pale," Ben pointed at Terry's face, which looked as pale as paper. The man was even breaking out in cold sweat from his forehead.

"I'm sure," Terry got up from his squat and wiped the sweat off his forehead with his right hand. "Thanks for worrying about me,"

Ben smiled brightly, then extended his thumb. "You're welcome."

After the dizziness and pain in his head and ears faded a bit, Terry looked back at the field. In front of him, guards wearing raven masks were walking hand in hand while carrying large baskets. One basket was carried by four people.

"What are they carrying?" Daniel asked. He squinted his eyes to see the basket more clearly. But in the end, I gave up because the distance was too far.

"I don't know," Kai said. "I can't see it clearly from here."

"Then, we'll just wait to hear from Marissa about what they brought," Terry chimed in. Both of them nodded their heads.

Marissa smiled happily when she saw that her subordinates had brought what she asked for. She threw the gong-beating stick carelessly—which Zayne caught with a grumble—and went downstairs in a hurry.

"Did you bring the things I asked for?" Marissa asked.

One of them nodded. Marissa smiled widely and jumped up and down like a child with a new toy. She took something out of her pocket. It was a pair of special faded blue gloves.

Once the gloves were on, Marissa stretched out her hand to pick up the object in the basket. It was a ball with a rusty wire around it.

"Yash, you guys are going to play catch with this," Marissa smiled happily.

However, this was inversely proportional to the expressions of the participants. They all made horror faces as if they had seen a ghost. Some of them even trembled at the sight of the wire-wrapped ball.

"We're going to use that thing for the second mission?"

Marissa nodded in response. "Yes! The one who can hold onto it the longest wins," Marissa paused for a moment and glanced at Zayne and X.

"But isn't that thing dangerous?" Asked one of the participants, pointing at the ball in Marissa's hand. "Even if you use gloves, your hands will still get hurt if you hold it wrong."

"Who said you would use gloves?" Asked X in a cold voice, which made all the participants turn their eyes from the ball to him. "You'll be playing catch with your bare hands. Here, me, Zayne, and Marissa are just demonstrating how to play."

"What?!"
