Hello, new friend

It's been two months since I was imprisoned for a crime I didn't commit. My mother has not visited me for over two weeks.

Has she forgotten me? Or maybe she has already left me because she's ashamed to face other people that she has a criminal child.

As the hours and days passed, my situation here in prison became more and more difficult. There was never a day that I was not punched by their fist and I could not eat properly because my face and lips were full of wounds.

Until one day my aunt visited me. I wonder why she wasn’t with mom and why she was alone. But I was stunned when she suddenly cried in front of me and held my hands.

“Your mother is gone, Sixto.” She said that I was shocked, but I did not believe her right away. I took my hand away from her and stood up.

“What are you saying, aunt? You're just kidding, aren't you?” I said, but I know she is serious about what she is saying, but I cannot accept the shocking news she told me.

I sat down in my chair and was stunned by her as tears welled up in her eyes.

“What happen to her?” I asked her.

“She tried to talk to your friends, but …” She stopped talking and turned her head again.

“But what?” I shouted with a trace of anger on my face.

“She had an accident. She was run over by a car when she was on her way home from your friend's house.” She replied as her voice trembled and cried. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. I clenched hard with my two fists as the anger I feel now burns.

“Who ran into her? Did you catch who ran into her?” I asked calmly as I looked down. She took a while to respond, so I looked up at her face and she seemed scared about what she would say to me.

“Yes, but he was also released right away.” Her responses that I made me furiously. I stand up, and I turned my back on her while holding my head by my two hands.

In a fit of rage, I picked up the chair and threw it hard against the wall. I shouted repeatedly and slapped the wall. The two policemen approached me and held my arm to calm me down. But I pushed them away and approached my aunt at the same time I bring my face close to hers.

“Who is he? Who is the demon, who killed my mother? Who!” I shouted in shock at her. She looked down and slowly opened her mouth to recite the name of the person she was referring to me.

“He's one of your f-friends, Sixto.” She was stuttering, so I was surprised and frowned.

“Who's my friend?”

“What's his name again? V-Van?” She said at the same time, I sat down on the chair and was stunned by her. I said nothing to her, but just laughed and laughed. All I can do is to laughed at the shocking news I found out from her. I can't believe it, and it seems like I just want to disappear into this world. But I can’t die yet because I have to punish the people who owe me first.

However of all the shocking news I heard, that was probably the most painful for me. And why all people in this world that I can be an enemy is the person I still fully trust and consider as my brother.

Do they really have no conscience? Were they really that kind of people when I first met them? Why did Van do that to my mother? Why are they doing this to our family? What mistake have we made other than just being poor?

In those moments, my anger at the world intensified even more. I hope that everyone in this world will suddenly disappear or that I will just end up in the other world where I am the only one living there.

When because of my experiences I learned to avoid other people and I found it difficult to trust others again. My will grew stronger and I learned to fight. I practiced wrestling and whether to fight opponents.

The former group that was hurting me, then I finally knocked them out. I made them suffer the pain they inflicted on me over and over again and even their leader whom I had always feared before also knocked down and defeated in just one battle.

Now I am a leader of a group of gangsters. Others are scared and shunned because they are all afraid of my fist. But before I became like this, I went through countless hardships. I went through blood and sweat to get on with life. And I was not disappointed because my life in prison had become peaceful and the bruises and wounds on my body had healed. However something still marked and became a scar like the long line on my face. Which served as a sign to me so that I would not forget the hell journey I went through inside the prison.

Ten years later, my memories still do not come back. My case was declared a close case because all the evidence they gathered showed that I was actually the killer. Even I knew in myself that there was something wrong with the evidence they found, and they obviously just fabricated it because they really couldn’t find enough evidence to prove that I was the killer.

However, I only accepted what the court sentenced me to, life imprisonment. Nothing will change if I continue to fight and shout for my rights because they are all blinded and deaf to money. And I don’t have that much money, and I’m not rich either. So, what else can I do? I’ll just waste my saliva to keep saying I’m innocent.

That was my last trial because the law had already decided. So, I went back to prison with people who had committed various crimes.

Unfair, isn't it? But ever since I landed in this place, I have discovered the true meaning of life. I saw the reality of the world. That as long as you have money or are rich, you can do everything you want. You can buy everything, even justice.

I gave up. I just accepted my fate. I will just wait until I grow old and die in this place.

But when I met Zero, my outlook on life suddenly changed. I see myself with him being accused of a crime he never committed and like me, his family is also poor, so they can do nothing to prove in court that he is innocent. It was obvious on his face that he was innocent, and he would not be able to kill a person. But because he was one of those chosen to take risks in this kind of life, he had to fight and accept the challenge of life.

When I first saw him, I was just passing by him and not paying much attention while a group of gangsters surrounded him. However ever since I found out his story and how he ended up in this place, I decided to adopt him and include him in our group to protect him.

He was a cheerful young boy and always smiled even though his face was full of bruises. I don’t know where else he gets that energy, despite what he’s going through now and how cruel the world is to him. He often follows me wherever I go. He always sits next to me and tells me stories, even if I don't pay attention to him or even look at him. But I am glad about the attitude he shows me, and also I feel sorry for him because at a young age he became a criminal.

So even though I was tired of seeing his face and being annoyed by his voice, I just let him do that. If that's a only way to make him feel safe.

Until one day, I noticed that I didn’t seem to see him running around and waving at me. Everywhere I looked, I could not find him. So, I approached Kaiser, one of my group members, and asked where Zero was. But even he had no idea where that young man was.

Because of that, I was suddenly felt something suspicious. I stood up and encouraged my group mates to look for him. After a while, Kaiser hurriedly approached me and told me where Zero was now. So, we immediately followed him, and we were greeted by a group of gang that wanted to take a revenge against me as they held Zero with blood all over his face and obviously exhausted.

I clenched my fist because of what I saw. I can’t allow them not to experience what they did to that innocent kid. Furthermore, I will make sure that every bone in their body will be broken, and they will never hurt innocent people like him again.

“Are you ready?” So all my members were gathered and prepared for a bloody battle.
