Hakim had made it to the kitchen, and immediately, he walked towards the cabinets where the utensils were being kept. Pulling their doors open, his eyes scanned the contents of the cabinet, searching for where the knives were placed. As his eyes fell upon a set of sharp blades hung on a metallic rack, he proceeded to take out the rack holding all six of the knives in place out of the cabinet.
'All of these knives look good. Should I just carry all of them? I mean, I have this bag with me that should have enough space for them all. Or should I just carried what I think would serve me the most?' he wondered, staring at all six of the knives. They were all of different shapes and sizes. Looking at a few of them, he was wondering whether they were even kitchen knives to begin with. For one, there was a knife that had a large bladed side, the area near the pointed end of the blade curving out, making it appear larger than one would expect. Then, from the area near the handle, there was a rectangular hole that just seemed unnecessary and Hakim was thinking what must have been going through the mind of the knife maker when he had created the utensil. In the first place, these were meant to serve in the kitchen, and not to be used in combat. But still, Hakim had his reservations about a couple designs on at least three of the knives placed on the knife rack.'You know what? I think I'll just take them all. You never know when even this machete of a knife might come in handy,' he then picked up one of the knives, which literally looked like a machete as his fingers were mere inches from the sharpened end, tempted to give it a slight touch.'Maybe I should collect some forks as well, maybe if I have a slingshot, then I could use them as arrows and then I'll have my personal bow and arrow arsenal,' as much ashe wanted to laugh at himself, he remembered that the current situation was far too dire for such things. He had to focus if he wished to live long enough in the current world.Opening another cabinet, he brought out a rack containing at least thirty spoons and forks. Taking only the forks, he now had six knives and fifty forks in his arsenal from the other cabinets. Then, there was another issue he would have to worry about.'Food! I need food while I'm out there,' slapping himself, he was disappointed in the fact that he had forgotten such an important requirement, almost heading into the outside world without any sort of food to help keep himself alive out there. If the monsters didn't kill him, then hunger definitely will.Fortunately, there were cabinets that contained food in them. Also, there was a fridge stationed close to the entrance, filled with all sorts of food and deserts. Preferably, Hakim decided to pack up things he was sure wouldn't spoil easily. As much as he wished to just stay put and enjoy whatever he could from this place, he knew that eventually he would run out of resources. What would he do then? Even if he chose to remain in the building, it would only be a matter of time until he really had to head into the outside. He might as well face his fears earlier on, packing whatever would assist him out there, with the hope that he might stumble upon some other humans who could help him. He was sure that there were other humans still out there who had survived the incident. He would just have to venture into the unknown and find them. Wherever they may be.From the cabinets, he had taken a couple unlevened, packaged bread sticks, as well as a bunch of snacks. At this point, he couldn't afford to take actual food since he would have yo eat it as soon as possible, and for what he was getting himself into, that wasn't the best option. He needed food stuff that would last over a long period of time, and if he manages to keep himself from over eating, then perhaps his food storage would last him at most a month. The bag he was carrying was a black bad that had a fairly long strap that would rest on one of his shoulders, the actual bag hanging in between his abdomen and torso. The bag was large enough to carry everything he thought he would need out there, and once he was done packing, he decided that it was finally time for him to head out.He braced himself, as he could hear the noises the creatures outside would make. In the first place, he didn't even have a plan. He wasn't sure what he would do once he made it outside. Whether or not he would somehow manage to run away unscathed, or if he would have to face off against the monsters. As these thoughts ravaged his mind, a loud bang suddenly hit, as the creatures outside began to scream loudly, and from the window, a bright flash of light had caused him to close his eyes, squinting them shut as he turned his head away. Moving his hands about, he was searching for the end of the hallway, so he could walk back in to avoid the blinding link coming from outside.'What was that?!' he thought, allowing his back to slide against the wall before sitting on the cold tiled floor. 'That white light. Was it from another monster? Or was it someone else? As much as I was scared before, how the heck am I gonna head outside now after witnessing that?!' he screamed in his mind.As he tried to open his eyes, he could feel a dull pain as his eyelids would move back, causing them to just close once again. Frustrated, he began to strike the wall behind him with his curled fist, until the pain from the continuous strikes forced him to stop.'What the fuck do I do now? All that preparation. All that peptalk. Just to get bested by a freaking beam of light?!' he was finding it hard to hold in his frustration as his legs began to shake non-stop. 'No! This can't be it! I can't afford to give up now! What would be the point?!'I've already gone through so much. Sacrificed everything I have, and all for what? Just because I have nothing left, doesn't mean my life is over! The fact that I'm still here and breathing is a testiment of that! There is still more to my life!' forcing his eyes to open, it wasn't long before they eventually did. They were still adjusting to the drastic change in light, as he could barely see where he currently was. Still, that didn't stop him, as he pushed his back against the wall, and with his feet facing flat against the wall, and his knees bent, he made use of the friction, pushing his body upwards before he regained the morale to continue walking.'That light is gone,' he realized, as he could no longer see any bright glow peering into the building. 'I think I should look and see what that was,' walking towards the window, his eyes went wide in shock upon laying eyes on the area outside the building. "The monsters… they're gone," he muttered under his breath. "How… how could this be? I can't even see a dead body or anything of the sort. Did they just vanish into thin air? No, I don't think so. But did it perhaps have something to do with that bright light?' Hakim thought, his eyes darting left and right.'In any case, this is actually good news, since I can now just walk out of here and begin my search for other Immunes. Still, I have to be careful. Just because I don't see them, doesn't mean they're not there. I need to keep my guard up no matter what,' and with that, he had taken in a deep breath, staring down as the last set of stairs leading down towards the building's entrance. There was also the chance that what he had last seen was fake. Maybe it was simply just his brain playing tricks on him, considering how frightened he was of the outside world. Maybe once he opens those doors, then a purple blob monster would open its mouth wide and bite down on his body, ripping his body in half before consuming him.'Ahh! I need to stop thinking like that! Remember! Don't let fear control you!' he yelled to himself, however, that didn't stop his hands and legs from shaking uncontrollably. As he took his first step, he wasn't quite paying attention, as the heel of his foot had ended up landing on the edge of the step, causing him to slip and his back to hit the stairs. He yelled, his eyes squinted shut from the pain. At this point, his eyesight was still somewhat bad as he would have to focus intensely to make out things that were around him. At least he was able to still tell that there weren't any monsters outside through all that blur and darkness.__________I hope you enjoyed the chapter. This is the second chapter for Demon Soldier today.I want to see if I'll be able to be writing four chapters daily. 2 for Beast Driven and another 2 for Demon Soldier. The next chapter will be posted tomorrow. The world had always been a dangerous place, whether that be due to criminal, global spreading diseases, or economic crises such as global warming and food shortage. But now, there was a new crises that had hit the world by storm, one that had changed the lives of mankind drastically.Somewhere underground, there was a table where a group of people sat down on their respective chairs, and seated at the head of the table, was a young man with a scar across his right eye, with burns and cuts all over his body.He didn't wear a shirt, which gave everyone present a clear view of his battle scars all over his torso, abdomen, and shoulders. Some were already thinking if such markings could be found on every nook and cranny of his body, particularly the women, of course. His hair was dark brown and in messy curls. His hazel eyes would gaze upon everyone seated with him, his companions during these trying times. "What do you propose we do now. From the Intel we've been getting from outside,
A lot of students feared Blake for a number of reasons, the number one reason being that he was the son of the city's mayor, meaning that he had more power at his fingertips to influence things not only in the school, but in the entire city. The girls loved him because he had a lot of power to do as he wished, and also because he was one of the strongest students in their grade. The boys would usually fight each other because of petty squabbles, or if they just wished to test out each other's strength, and in most cases, Blake would come out on top, proving that he was the strongest. The other boys respected and feared him for this. Coupled with the fact that he had political support from his father, he was basically untouchable by the city's police force whenever he would go out and commit petty crimes just for the fun of it.Blake was a wildcard that didn't care about whom his actions would affect, and now, he was ready to do inflict a world of pain on the two students standing in f
Based on the weather reports from earlier that day, it was stated that there were low chances of a storm happening. Because of this, everyone in the city went about living their lives, not having to worry about a sudden storm appearing out of the blue to ruin their plans for a perfect day. However, based on the current event that was taking place, it seemed as though the weather forecast channels were wrong on their predictions.A few more seconds later, and the shock of lightning had ended, and with it, everyone who had been hit was barely managing to cling unto consiousness. As a matter of fact, they were glad that they weren't just killed by the lightning strike."What…? Was that?" Blake was the first to ask, being the one who was still able to somewhat move his body after the ordeal. The lightning had left his clothes somehwt scorched, though no important parts had been burnt off. Then, there was his hair, he wasn't sure if he was imagining it, but he could pick up on the smell of
Although these two students were unsure of what to do, they were quite sure of one thing. The fact that someone who worked at the school had spotted them, definitely meant that they would be getting into trouble. As such, one of them was hoping that they would be able to bribe the man to keep his mouth shut."Hey, man. What's up? Why are you…?" One of then trained off in his speech,as the man began to laugh ominously. "Aren't you okay with the deal? What could you possibly want?" The boy continued to ask, sweat dripping down from his face as his body trembled, taking one slow step backwards then another."You know, the only reason I'm here is because of him, but I guess I can spare some of my time for you two," the man said, as be quickly ran forward the next second, catching both of the students off guard as they began to run in the other direction, hoping that they would somehow outrun this strange man."Don't even bother running! Your faith were sealed the moment I laid eye on you!
As the room was consumed by the bright glowing white light, no one could see a thing. Moments later, and the bright light began to dull down, and with that, came the realization that the spinning portal had stopped. Falling onto the floor, Blake and Carter were both glad to see that things had somewhat gone back to normal.Having stopped teleporting excessively, the first year students had collapsed as well, his body unmoving, laying on the floor. Looking towards the direction where the light had come from, Blake could tell that it was from this student.'Is this his ability?' he wondered, as his gaze shifted to Carter, who was still lying on the floor with his face facing the ground. 'What was he trying to achieve by doing that?'Behind a couple of the spectators' seats, after noticing that the bright light had died down, and that there was no longer a force pulling him out, Kayden decided to poke his head out from the side to see what was going on.'Blake? Carter?' Kayden was wonder
"Hakim! Get your butt over here!" A boy yelled, tossing the table that was in front of him towards the wall. Smashing into it, it made a loud noise as it fell and hit the floor, barely missing the student that was covering in fear in the corner, his body shaking non-stop as he did the best he could to look away. "I'll fucking kill you if you don't come out now!"The boy, who went by the name Hakim, had other ideas, knowing full well what would happen if he reveals himself. Using his ability, he had made himself invisible, hoping that it would be enough to keep himself safe from Blake."Too bad for you, my sense of smell will let me sniff you out in no time! I was giving you the opportunity to come out on your own, but now, you have left me with no other choice," he said, as his nose had suddenly transformed into the snout of a bloodhound. "If I find you this way, then what I planned on doing to you will be far worse!"Realizing that he no longer had much time to hide, his mind went in
