Number three

“Um..do..you really think they.. be okay?” Yua asked. She was sitting with Danny while playing with her fingers.

“Hmm I think they’ll be just fine. Besides group B is already out. So it’s just group A and us now.” Danny replied.

They were both sitting on the floor in one of the lonely underground tunnels that was slightly dark. It was the perfect spot to hide at the moment because they could easily move into the closeby darkness lying in the tunnel to hide if there was any case of emergency. They were prepared to hide in the dark if they should notice any other person’s movements.

“From what the announcement said. Someone must have taken out group B’s king which means we have to be even more careful now.”

“That’s why... why...we’re ...hiding right?”

“Yeah but we can’t hide for forever. We are bound to be found very soon. Especially now that it’s just we and them remaining.”

At this point, a feeling of anticipation filled Danny’s eyes as he said. “The question is. Which group is gonna locate the other group’s king first?”

“We..we just have...to have faith..in them..”

“Yeah you’re right. Besides that is the only thing we can do now”

“Well It looks like I found you then...”

“What the hell?”

The surprised Danny quickly rose up from his seating posture after hearing the unexpected voice. While Yua instinctively stood behind to seek protection.

“So this is where you guys have been hiding all along?”

‘How did he find us? How did he know we were here? I didn’t even notice any movements!’ Danny’s heart throbbed as he looked forward to see the person in front of him.

It was a guy with purple hair. The upper body of his red gi uniform was already looking tattered and torn. Danny suddenly felt an ominous feeling. Just from looking at the presence in front of him, Danny was able to tell that this guy was just coming out of a fight.

Danny couldn’t help but wonder ‘Was he responsible for the knockout of group B’s king?’

He quickly shrugged the question off his mind. The fact here was that his king was in serious trouble with this guy around. And since his king was in serious trouble that literally puts the whole group in trouble too.

Even though he didn’t know how much fight this guy had left in him, Danny was sure they both couldn’t stand up to this guy.  Even if they wanted to, he couldn’t muster courage to even take a proper fighting stance in front of the newcomer. After all he could tell by the way his body was practically screaming for him to escape. Of course he couldn’t help feeling that way knowing the person standing in front him was...

“Hideyo Number three”

“Oh wow I can see you really know who I am then”

“Yes I do”

“Then I’m sure you should be able to tell that this battle has already been decided then.”

Hideyo had a nonchalant expression as he kept speaking in a relaxed manner.

“So I’m gonna make you an offer.”

“An Offer?”

“Yeah an offer. To avoid any waste of time between us. Just allow me knock out your king. I think it would be better for both of us that way. Mostly for you.”

“Now why would I wanna agree to such a stupid deal?” Danny retorted as he gritted his teeth. Even when he knew who his opponent was, He just couldn’t hide the fact that this guy was currently looking down on him. Pride was one of the known virtues of the members of The Strongest Five and everybody in the Stratton Dojo has had it up to here with them. Him included. But being sick of their arrogant behavior didn’t magically give him the power to oppose them.

“Huh? Stupid?”

“Yes it’s a stupid deal since I don’t gain anything back in return. Rather I’m the one who loses”

“At least you don’t get to sustain any injuries. If you know me then you should be able to understand what I’m talking about” Hideyo smiled slightly. Right now he was completely being confident. It was like he had the almost belief that he was gonna win this battle. But to Danny at the moment it felt more like Hideyo was speaking to him like he was speaking with someone unworthy of his consideration. And that right there was an insult to any fighter’s pride.

After such an insulting statement from Hideyo. Danny quickly opened his mouth without even thinking. “Even so that’s nonsense! If I remember correctly you’re just number three right. Which means you can be beaten. So stop acting high mighty!”

“Beaten? Do You possibly think that you a blue Gi student can beat me?”

There was a sudden regret in Danny’s expression as he thought. ‘I hate to admit it but he’s right. Me beating him is kind of impossible. I got angry and lashed out without even thinking. But I don’t have to beat him. I just have to hold him off till the others get here. I believe with all of the rest group members help we can take this guy down.’

Danny expression quickly turned sour as he evaluated the situation. He knew is situation was not looking good at all. Even with his way of speaking, he knew quite well that his opponent was strong. No even way stronger than him. But still he also can’t let himself give up just like that. If he did that there’s no way he could call himself fit to be a fighter. So giving up was not an option. So he had to fight wether he likes it or not.

Danny bit his lips before speaking again “Beat you. Well we won’t know till we try right? Besides the fact that you’re beatable makes it possible.”

Danny was currently trying to keep up his pretense of confidence. His current attitude was nothing more than a charade. He knew looking all scared is not going to help him in anyway. A bluff is all he could do while he buy time.

“Hmm..I wasn’t honestly expecting you to accept my deal in the first place but still I warned you.” Hideyo chuckled.

“After all. Are you sure we even need to fight?”

These were the words Danny heard behind him before he could even blink an eye.

“Damn! He got past me already”

  Hideyo was already reaching directly for Yua who had been silently standing behind Danny all this time. Hideyo quickly stretched out in his hand. He was already about to grab Yua’s neck.

*Swish*

The next thing that came with a sound was Hideyo’s hand missing from its place.

Hideyo quickly backed away with his bleeding arm. His hand he attempted to grab Yua with was cut off. He casually glanced at his bleeding arm showing no sign of pain and looked back at Danny. Danny was already standing back on guard in front of Yua .

Hideyo eyes became tinged with suspicion ‘He’s not having any weapons on him. So how did he cut me?’

Hideyo smiled and said “I can see you’re well aware of who i am and what I can do”

In that moment another limb quickly grew from Hideyo’s arm. His severed arm grew back like it was nothing. His arm was already healed up. It was almost like he didn’t sustain any injury in the first place.

“Of course I’m well aware. That’s why you’re the only person I can fight differently.”

“Is that so? Then tell me. How where you able to cut me? You don’t have a weapon. So what’s your ability?”

“Hmm...How about I let you figure that out. Besides you’re number three right? Such a little thing shouldn’t faze you.” Danny chuckled even when he knew deep down he was feeling the quite opposite of how he speaks ‘At least making him a bit cautious should back my bluff’

“I see. No problem then”

Hideyo quickly left a burst of wind from where he was standing as he dashed towards Danny. His speed was totally impeccable. Hideyo was already holding both of Danny’s hands before Danny could even attempt to counter him.

“Now Yua!” Danny screamed.

“Alright”

{Haaaaaaahaaaaaaaaaaa!}

Yua quickly gave out a terrible scream. The scream was so terrible to a person’s hearing that Hideyo instinctively covered his ears with both his hands to block out the sound. In that moment Danny saw the opening he needed. With Hideyo no longer holding him, he quickly moved passed Hideyo with hands.

And then blood splashed out as Hideyo’s chest was cut open.

‘Shit! He was still able to negate my attack. I had intended to slash him into two.’

“I see.” Hideyo was already standing upright again as he touched his injured chest with no change in his expression. He turned around to Danny. Just like that the injury that Danny had inflicted on him was already healed.

‘Super regeneration’ Danny had a sulky expression. Although Danny actually knew what Hideyo’s ability was but he wasn’t really expecting his healing to be this fast. Looking at the enemy in front he immediately concluded.

‘I was right to attack him with the intention of killing him. Normally an attack like this is not allowed in the Representative tournament or even Demons Battle.’

Danny cautiously watched Hideyo walked forward slowly.

‘But for an opponent like him. Such rules doesn’t apply to him. The only possible way I can think of beating him right now is to fight him with the intention of killing him. I even wonder how he’s number three. How are the remaining two able to beat him. How do they win against a person they can’t knock out?’

Hideyo kept walking slowly towards Danny. The closer Hideyo got, the more Danny grew restless. He didn’t want Hideyo to get any closer. The closer Hideyo got, the more he ran out of options to help his current situation. And the situation proves even more worst with Yua behind him. No matter what happens he had to protect Yua.

Danny immediately took the initiative to attack and burst into a sprint charge towards Hideyo as he screamed.

“Ahhh!”

Hideyo calmly walked forward . The moment Danny got closed, Hideyo raised his right hand slightly as he caught something in the opposite direction of where Danny’s arms were moving.

“I see. An invisible weapon.”

“Shit!”

“But even this won’t be enough to stop me”

Air tore apart as a loud bang was heard coming from a punch.

*crack*

“Huh?”

Hideyo had a surprised look when he saw his attack had no effect. And his wrist was broken from the impact of his punch. Before he could process what happened, Danny instantly gave him a kick that sent him crashing few meters away.

There was a crumbling sound as Hideyo crashed right into the darkest part of the tunnel. Danny still kept his stance. He definitely knew that his last attack was not something that could stop Hideyo. So he cautiously stood by and watched the darkness. There was no doubt that Hideyo would emerge from the darkness at any second.

“Hmm..you’re much harder than you look.” Hideyo voice was heard as he casually appeared from the darkness.

Hideyo chuckled “Come on. Don’t tell me you thought I’ll be fragile?”

“Well it looks like that’s my mistake then”

Hideyo quickly appeared in front of Danny again. “How about we try this again?”

Even when it was the same attack as before Hideyo attacked so fast that Danny could hardly predict it.

Hideyo’s bones easily broke again from another impact of his punch on Danny’s body. He swiftly followed his attack with another blow from his other fist like he felt nothing from his previous broken fist. Just like that his second arm smashed open like a smashed water melon.

“Do you still think I’m fragile?” The instant Hideyo was lacking both his two arms. Danny quickly struck his own blow as his hand burst right through Hideyo’s stomach.

“Kwack” Hideyo gushed out blood from his mouth and laughed. “Wow you really want to kill me don’t you?”

Danny’s arm became stuck inside Hideyo body. Hideyo mouth curved upwards as both his arms immediately grew back. He quickly clapped both his hands with Danny’s head right in the middle of his two clashing palms. Both his wrist broke off again but Danny staggered a little from the impact.

Danny regained his balanced and pulled out his arm off Hideyo’s stomach. There was a sudden spill of blood from Hideyo’s open abdomen as Danny quickly backed away. The scenery behind him could be easily seen from the hole in his stomach.

Hideyo ignored the intense bleeding from his stomach and looked at Danny.

“Hey! You staggered just now.Which means...There’s a limit to that your ability of indestructibility”

“What makes you think that?”

The hole in Hideyo’s stomach quickly closed back up and just like that a new skin covered the wound like there wasn’t even any injury there in the first place.

Hideyo smiled at Danny and said “Because there’s also a limit to how long I can continue healing too”

Hideyo Stretched out his hand to Danny and said “Why don’t we play a game then. Let’s see who’s gonna reach their limit first?”
