Chapter two

                    Breaking dawn

Ryker was a blind widower who was fed and taken care of by his neighbours and caring friends. He had lost his wife and children some years back to  a fire accident which broke out whenever n his house,he has  travelled for a work and when he returned he was greeted with the sad news about his wife and two children and that he had no house,it pained him deeply that he didn't hear their voices for the last time as he was not able to see them. His neighbours and some caring  friends decided to provide his daily meal and take care of him,he was always greeted with baskets of food, loaves of bread and sometimes people who come to wash the dishes and clean the house.

" I am here my lord but I don't have anything to give,see my lord,I am just a poor blind old man who depend on people for daily bread". Ryker replied with a sympathetic voice.

"And what  do you suggest I do with you"

" I plead that you forgive my incapability and grant me the chance to see a new day ".

The displeasure in Derus grew into anger and in a flash he pushed Ryker causing him to fall face flat in the floor he came closer to him and plastered his face to the ground using his feet.

" I would have loved to kill you right now but I think it will be more fun watching you die slowly, torturing you and watching you in cry pain will be soothing music for my soul" He paused thinking if what to do to him." Logan,take him and lock him up in the dungeon". He said as he took a seat on the throne.

" Please my lord". Ryker cried. "Do not punish me,I am willing and ready to serve you till I die , please "

"And how will you do that? You are just a bag of old blind bone, how do you intend to serve me?, Take him away Logan , you will have be punished if I hear any word from him" 

As Logan took Ryker away ,he observed the quietness which had taken over the courtroom,a single soul didn't dare to utter a word for every one of them feared their lives, he watched his subjects who stood before him facing the floor to avoid making an eye contact with him. ' Soon I'll be the ruler of the world and everybody and everything I it will bow to me. Power is the essence of living'. He said inwardly with a bright smile plastered on his face .

" Join me". Derus said breaking the silence. " I want to make a sacrifice to my father, do not fear, I'll only use the animals for the sacrifice."

He said taking the lead to the altar he had built behind the castle.

Each of the subjects carried a basket and the older me dragged the animals and placed it around the altar Derus then spotted a little girl who was clinging tenaciously to her mother ,his face which held a killer look changed to a smiley face as he walked up to the girl.

" Hey little girl, I would like you to meet my father today".

The little girl shook her head tearfully and tightened her grip on her mother's hand 

"I know you would say no but I wasn't asking you I'm telling you you would visit my father". He tried dragging the girl away from her mother but her mother took her in an embrace and pleaded with tears rolling down her face

" She is just a child please spare her life"

His eye turned dark as anger took over him, he had never expected anyone to object to what he had said

"I would have loved to take you to my father but he loves just the children but that doesn't mean I wouldn't punish you for wasting my time, I would leave you here for the people to decide what to do with you"

Saying the last words he held the woman's neck and in a blink of an eye he ripped her head off her neck ,he dropped the body carelessly on the ground causing her blood to pump out.

 He then dragged the little girl placed her on the altar, he knelt before it and kissed the carving on the stone - the carving was a long fork piercing through a crescent moon 

Derus closed his eyes and looked up to the sky and with a loud voice he said "Padre perdona la mia assenza, accetta la mia offerta e aiutami a ripristinare la mia gloria .As he said those a heavy rain which came with lighting and thunder poured down on Riskwood city. During the activity, all the forces covering the city was loosened and centered on the sacrificial spot, people were so engrossed in watching Derus that they didn't notice the release except for a young boy, Jared .Jared was not happy about the condition of his village took to himself to find the solution to their problem, he took the opportunity of the sacrifice to sneak out of the village to seek for help luckily he met the nearest village's post office on his path

"Can I have a pen and paper?"

The postal worker nodded to him and handed him a pen and paper

"Thanks "he said and write to the high priest ,the high priest was whom everyone knew to occupy the highest rank in the dynasty of pure magic . Jared believed that he was the only person that could save their village from doom so he wrote to him 

'It is with urgency that I write to you ,my village, Riskwood city,is being controlled by a demon who possesses great powers which we believe to be dark .The demon is so ruthless that he plans on an killing off everybody I my village, Riskwood city and the people in it can only be saved if you come to our aid,we have heard of your great work and that is why we implore you to help us take out the demon . Please do not try crossing the gate till you meet someone who will assist you in,we urgently need you and we do hope you come soonest'.

He gave the letter to the postal worker,dropped a silver coin for him, he ran back to the village and was lucky enough to join them two minutes before the ceremony was concluded. He heaved a sigh of relief when he realized that nobody noticed his absence and acted as normal as he had always been.

Jared on reaching home pondered on what he had done and was glad he did what he did . 'Soon ,I believe, this whole thing will become a past, Riskwood city will be saved and we'll continue living our lives freely'. He thought to himself.
