Chapter 3. Divine System

***

The next day.

Tobias was able to walk well after resting all day long yesterday. Tobias took this opportunity to go to the city center of Stratham. He went accompanied by a maid who he assigned to take him to a place.

Not a library or a restaurant, but a blacksmith shop. The maid was initially confused, considering Tobias was not good at using physical weapons. However, she carried out the order without denying it.

There was only one blacksmith still operating in the whole of Stratham City. He was the supplier of high-quality swords for the soldiers in the region of Atrea -the region that Archibald ruled.

The name of the blacksmith shop was Jason Stone, named after the shop owner. Tobias looked at the signboard with the name of the blacksmith shop outside Stratham's business center.

"Is this the shop?" asked Tobias, raising his head.

"Yes. This shop supplies high-quality swords to Archibald's noble warriors," said the maid, stopping in her tracks and standing beside Tobias.

Tobias tried to go inside but immediately jumped back while taking the maid with him. The wooden door of Jason's shop was shattered, along with a thin, shaved-headed man who looked injured.

The maid who was saved by Tobias was stunned at the quick reflexes of her master. She had never seen Tobias do such a thing in her life, something that became very interesting to Tobias.

"What kind of terrible weapon did you make for me, huh?!" snapped a man dressed in T-shirt sleeves with his right hand visibly clutching a spear.

"I-I've made the spear just the way you want it, sir," said the bald man, who looked frightened.

Tobias whispered softly to the woman beside him, trying to confirm if the man with the shaved head was Jason, the blacksmith shop owner. The waitress nodded and cleared her throat, both staring at Jason with distrustful eyes.

The other man who was holding the spear seemed to start breaking the spear shaft with his right foot. A loud breaking sound could be heard, making Jason yell out as if he was in pain from having his homemade weapon broken so easily.

"Ah, it is indeed a bad weapon," Tobias said. He didn't deny that a spear that could be easily broken was bad.

"I don't wanna know. You will make me another spear that is as strong as I want, or I'll take my money back!" snapped the man, throwing the halved spear to the ground and walking out of the blacksmith shop.

Jason walked while wiping the blood off his face. He stepped closer to the broken spear with a haggard look on his face. Tobias also walked closer to Jason until he caught the blacksmith's attention.

"Did you also come to destroy my career as a blacksmith?" Jason asked, looking at Tobias with an indifferent expression.

"I want to restore your reputation. I need you to make me a weapon," Tobias replied.

Jason laughed out loud at Tobias' request to make a weapon, the man had said so earlier, and he seemed disappointed in the weapon Jason had made. The blacksmith thought he would make the same mistake with Tobias' work.

"I'm not accepting any more weapons work," Jason said, walking away from Tobias.

The man stepped into his blacksmith shop, followed by Tobias and the maidservant who was with him. Just as Tobias entered, he was shocked to see the mess inside the shop.

Swords were scattered on the floor, some bows and arrows were broken, walls were damaged, and glass was shattered. It was situation that Tobias could imagine how chaotic the dispute had been.

Of all the swords in the place, not a single one was shaped like a katana. Many of the swords Jason made were double-edged European swords.

Tobias tried to pick up a sword and grasped it tightly. When his right palm made contact with one of the swords, Tobias was startled by the appearance of a blue light in front of his face.

His movements stopped as his eyes read the text on the light. It was a box with white text inside.

[Welcome to Equestria]

Seeing the appearance of the light took Tobias by surprise. The maid seemed to crouch down and look at the words in front of Tobias. She knew very well why they appeared.

"The system appears when you hold one of the swords, huh?" asked the maid, Tobias had no idea what the System was.

"What is it?" asked Tobias.

"It's a divine system. A system that will help you control the power in your body, people have their own divine System, but it's quite rare to activate it," said the maid.

"Sometimes it can take decades for someone to activate it. I activated it when I was 30 years old," Jason said, realizing that Tobias had something to do with sword weapons.

Tobias was surprised to hear that. He raised his right hand and could feel something flowing under his veins, like a steady stream of ninjutsu moving like a chakra.

"I still don't understand what the divine system is," Tobias said.

Jason showed Tobias how it worked. The bald-headed man swung his hand from top to bottom, bringing up boxes of Status, Character, and skills.

"The status menu gives an overview of you, the character menu is to see the development of your divine system, and the skills menu is to show your abilities," Jason replied.

"I was confused at first, but eventually, I got the hang of it," Jason continued, walking over to the wooden table as he removed the spear blade from the log.

Because his mind was curious, Tobias tried to do exactly what Jason did.

[Status]

[Character]

[Skill]

Just like Jason said, the menus appeared as well as when Jason did that. Tobias tried to tap the status menu with the index finger of his right hand, and to his surprise, a new light appeared with different detailed information.

[Individual Status]

[Name: Tobias Archibald]

[Age: 18]

[Cultivation: none]

[Title: none]

[Class: none]

Tobias saw the new terms he read from the light screen, which prompted the young man to ask Jason. Jason did not answer Tobias' question. He rather suggested that Tobias study in the library to find out everything.

"Are you sure you don't want to take a job from him?" the waiter asked Jason.

"Sure. I'm sick of being abused by my own customers. They can't use weapons at all!" snapped Jason.

"But not with me," Tobias replied, arguing to convince Jason.

"What do you mean?" asked Jason.

"He activated his divine System by holding your sword. Don't you realize the possibility?" asked the maid beside Tobias.

"He has the potential to become the strongest swordsman," the woman continued.

Jason laughed out loud again. This time his laughter was so loud, as if he was mocking and assuming that the swordsman didn't exist. What the woman said to Jason was just a bunch of nonsense.

"How much do they pay you to make a weapon?" Tobias asked.

"About five silver to one gold coin," Jason replied.

Tobias was seen walking towards the wooden table as his right hand reached into his pants pocket. He pulled out three gold coins to make Jason consider his request. Tobias did not ask Jason to make a complicated weapon.

"Three gold coins?" asked Jason, staring hard at Tobias.

"What kind of weapon do you want?" Jason asked back.

Tobias picked up one of the swords close to him and brought it to the table. Jason realized what Tobias wanted. He wanted a sword-type weapon.

"Do you want a sword like this?" asked Jason. Tobias shook his head.

"I want a katana sword. Can you make one for me?" asked Tobias.

Jason squinted his eyes, trying to understand what Tobias meant. He had only heard the term katana sword, so in his mind, he didn't know what it looked like.

"Can you draw what kind of sword you need?" Jason asked, holding out a piece of paper and a pencil for Tobias.

The young man happily drew a sword that suited his needs, as he couldn't use any sword other than a katana. It was not without reason, the sword art he was learning had to use a katana, or it would never work.

Tobias carefully memorized the shape of the sword so his drawing felt more vivid than just a simple scribble. After drawing the sword, he immediately showed his sketch to Jason.

"Oh, a sword like this. I think I have one," Jason replied.

The bald man stepped into another room, where Jason probably used to forge his swords. Tobias was waiting in front of the wooden table with the maid who came with him.

"His swords look old and rusty. Are you sure he's the blacksmith who supplies weapons to Archibald's noble warriors?" asked Tobias, somewhat dubious of his abilities.

"Indeed he is," replied the maid.

"Well, hopefully, my sword won't be as bad as the appearance of his swords," said Tobias, hoping his katana would be strong and durable.

It wasn't long before Jason arrived with the sword wrapped in a cloth. Tobias' heart was so happy and enthusiastic to see the shape of the sword that already looked like a katana.

Jason untied the rope on the cloth that wrapped the sword. The cloth opened, revealing a katana sword with a black sheath and a white handle.

"There was someone who asked me to make this before, but he died before taking his order," Jason replied.

Tobias tried to hold the hilt of the sword. Surprisingly, a screen appeared in front of Tobias with new information. A skill had been unlocked.

[Congratulations!]

[The divine sword art has been acquired]

[The sacred sword skill has been activated]

"Divine sword art?" asked Tobias, still gripping the sword.

"Wow, you were born to be a swordsman, sir," replied Jason, happy he thought he would have a regular customer this time.

Tobias fell silent after Jason said that. His right hand felt something different than before when he held the sword; it felt like a stream of wind was entering his body.

"What kind of power am I having?"
