53: A call for help

Alessia looked at Jake, who was talking to one of her maids.

“So, you have finally decided to let Jake stay?”

Kevin nodded once. “It's not like he can protect me actually, but I've realised it's good having him around,” he explained with a shrug. “He can help me do some errands.”

Alessia nodded once and moved to sit. “We've served the Watson's family the papers. We will meet in court by next week,” she informed.

Kevin smiled. “Well done. Just make sure Oliver is doing fine. He's our only witness after all. With him, we will win the case.”

Alessia regarded him for a moment. “You've changed,” she noted.

Kevin looked up at her but didn't say anything.

“I mean, this wasn't always the Lord Phoenix that I knew. This past year has changed you. You are more lenient.”

Kevin laughed. “Really?”

“Maybe just a slight change, actually. You are a man of great wisdom, but you don't always have the luxury of patience to tolerate someone's behaviour.”

“You mean the Watson's family?”
