91: Fights

Mia blinked, looking at Morris in disbelief. She was half-expecting him to crack a smile and say he was joking. When he didn’t, she felt her disbelief turn into anger.

“Excuse me?” Mia shrieked "What did you just say?"

Morris smirked. He was calm as if he just asked Mia to change her fashion brands, not walk away from her life's work.

“You heard me. Let’s be real, Mia. This company would be better off with someone who isn’t… so emotionally attached.”

Emotionally attached? Mia’s jaw tightened. The words almost felt like a slap. She took a slow deep breath. “So that’s your big solution, then? Just push me aside? I shouldn’t be surprised. This is what you’ve wanted all along, isn’t it, Morris?”

Morris shrugged “I’m just being practical. Emotions have no place here. You could take some time, focus on yourself, maybe let someone else take the reins for a change.”

“Focus on myself,” she laughed bitterly. “How considerate. And here I thought I could count on my own team to stand behind me.
