Chapter 3-Diablo Torres Threat

After Jacob's passing. The Kaye family was now in big trouble. Diablo Torres could not accept being battered and humiliated by a trashy son-in-law like Jacob. The entire Kaye family gathered in the living room to confer with one of the wealthy young businessmen in Rowbon town.

“We are truly sorry, Mr. Torres. That's why we kicked him out. However, we never thought that he would be so rude to you,” said Mr. Samuel⸺Carol's father.

“Apologize you say? My face must now bear the shame in front of my business relations and extended family! I don't accept it! You must have set me up here to be beaten by that bastard! How much did you pay!” shouted Diablo angrily with a face full of bruises and blood still dripping from his broken nose.

“Indeed, Sir. Jacob is just a servant here. We never even considered him a son-in-law. He's the boy my late husband took in. I also don't know why my husband would go crazy like that and even marry Carol. We have been enduring his parasite-like existence,” Mrs. Kaye added.

“Shut up! I don't want to hear any more of your nonsense!” shouted Diablo, who continued to wipe the blood from his nostrils with the tissue Carol had given him.

“Can't we negotiate something, so this doesn't go public?” asked Carol pleadingly.

Instantly, Diablo's sly face lit up. He looked at each member of the Kaye family intently, as if he had something in mind.

“Of course. The wise Diablo will give you a chance. Refuse, and I'll tell the whole community about Jacob. You can imagine the shame you'll have to endure for the rest of your lives. In fact, your social status will drop drastically, along with the shares and all the Kaye family's wealth,” he threatened.

“No! Fine, say what you want,” Kyle pleaded in a panic because she was not ready to be poor.

“You have to revive my nearly bankrupt company. In return, I won't reveal Jacob to the public. I will also marry Carol. After all, the Kaye and Torres families' business relationship has been good for a long time,” he replied.

“Reviving your bankrupt company? That would mean we have to build from scratch,” Morris objected.

The temperamental Diablo swiftly retrieved the cell phone from his pants pocket. The eyes of the Kaye family members were wide-eyed. Carol quickly grabbed the phone and clutched it tightly to her chest.

“What are you doing!”

A hard slap flew from Diablo's hand. Carol's smooth cheeks were now red. Everyone was stunned because the rumors that Diablo liked to play hands were true. Carol was stunned and immediately fell silent. Diablo took back his cell phone and looked at the woman who would become his future wife sharply.

“Listen, Carol. It's good fortune that I saved you from Jacob's despicable hands. It's lucky that you're going to marry me, so don't act up. Or I won't hesitate to do bad things to destroy you,” Diablo threatened, which made Carol try hard not to cry. She could only nod because she also needed Diablo to raise her level. The Kaye family fell silent as Diablo regained his composure and looked at them intently. “Prepare a festive wedding party. All expenses will be covered by the Kaye family as a form of apology. In return, I will involve the Kaye Company in the project of building a resort on the coast of Lodenburg city that has been targeted by many contractors. My family is closely acquainted with the owner of RG and you know it,” he pointed out.

“Thank you very much, Mr. Diablo. Hopefully, this good relationship will continue and your marriage to Carol will go smoothly as planned,” Mrs. Kaye said.

Diablo didn't answer and turned to leave Kaye's house. Samantha was silent as her family members looked panicked at the threat, but also excited that the great opportunity to take part in the RG Company's resort construction project would be realized.

“Oh, after a long wait, we will be participating in the project. If I'm not mistaken, the profit for each company involved will be 100 billion. Imagine, the Kaye and Torres families will be working together. We'll beat the ranking holder Johanson,” Mrs. Kaye said happily.

“The project will be announced three months from now, according to an informant from RG Company. We'd better get Carol and Diablo married right away. This will be great for raising the stock value,” Samuel said, to which the businessmen nodded.

“Carol, behave! Make Diablo fall into your arms, so he doesn't threaten our family again. Your incompetent ex-husband is on the run, and he could be a threat,” Mrs. Kaye stressed.

“I'll take care of that, Ma'am. I'll send someone to find Jacob's whereabouts. I'll make sure he's never seen on this continent again for good,” said Morris, who had the full support of everyone except Samantha.

“And you, Samantha. Your burden with Jacob is over. You should focus on your daughter's real wedding. A wedding that will be witnessed by everyone, not just family members. You got it!” Mrs. Kaye insisted, and Samantha nodded silently.

“Are you okay?” asked Samantha as she approached her daughter, who looked shaken from being slapped by a man for the first time. Carol said nothing with her face turned away. “Jacob was never rude to you.”

Carol glanced at her mother sharply. “Stop mentioning his name. I'm sticking with Diablo,” the slender, supermodel-like woman insisted as she waltzed away clutching her sore cheek.

As everyone left to go about their own business, Samantha went to Jacob's room. She placed a mannequin with a bright red dress that was dedicated to Carol. However, it was not praise or words that the kind-hearted man received, but betrayal and insults. Samantha closed the door to Jacob's room and left, looking glum.

At Jacob's place.

The next day, the man was asked by Emma to go buy formal clothes because he was going to meet with the leaders of a prominent business group. Emma wanted to declare that the descendant of Rodriguez who had disappeared had been found. Of course, Jacob was impatient. Ewald drove him to a famous boutique in the city of Rowbon where the only people who wore the collection were high-class conglomerate men.

Rivera Boutique. Rowbon City.

Just now, Jacob set foot on the entrance mat of the most luxurious boutique in the city, he was confronted by a security guard. Jacob's steps were halted as he was stared at like a lowlife by the man in front of him.

“Are you blind? This mat you're stepping on can buy your life, bum,” the security guard sarcastically stared at the raggedly dressed man in front of him.

“I'd like to see the Manager of Rivera Boutique,” Jacob replied politely.

“Hey, idiot! Does sunshine make your brain vaporize, huh? Let alone the manager, I wouldn't even want to meet you if it wasn't for my duty to keep out all the people who don't deserve to come in⸺”.

Instantly, the man's speech stopped. Jacob showed a black card with a gold-colored hologram with a snake pattern. The security guard's eyes bulged. He looked nervously at Jacob, who made a cold face at him.

“I apologize, Sir. Don't fire me,” he stammered.

“I'll think about it. Open the door,” Jacob pleaded with annoyance because the security guard's attitude immediately changed when he showed the magic card given by Ewald.

The security guard bowed and immediately opened the door for the boutique's number one customer. Jacob strolled casually through the collections displayed on the hanging cabinets. However, the boutique that day was so crowded because the news of Diablo Torres marrying Carol Kaye spread so quickly. Although they hadn't received an official invitation, the glamorous rich people didn't want to miss out on the latest collection. They had already started placing orders.

“Stupid security guard! How did a hobo like that get in here!” screeched the boutique manager when he saw a shabbily dressed man enter the number one boutique in the city. “Hey, hey! You, stop!” shouted the manager as he walked quickly towards Jacob. Jacob who was holding a navy blue suit and looked luxurious immediately turned his head. “Stop touching every single item in this store! Your despicable hands⸺”.

Again, the second person in 5 minutes fell silent when Jacob showed the black holographic card. Jacob suddenly reached out and showed a ring with a snake ornament left by his parents. Instantly, the person's eyes widened.

“Y-you ...,” the manager stammered as he was shaken.

“Just shut up, keep it a secret if you want to continue working at this place,” Jacob said and the man nodded quickly with a tense face.

Just as he was about to open his mouth, a commotion was heard. Spontaneously, Jacob turned around. What was his surprise when he saw the man who snatched his wife appear with a fierce face.
