Chapter 10
Allegra hadn’t expected Isaac to show up so quickly. Once again, she wondered how he knew about this villa. Suddenly, she couldn’t help feeling afraid. She said to him, “Don’t come in. This has nothing to do with you.”

Edward was dumbstruck. His eyes widened, and he took a step back, mumbling to himself, “How is this possible?” This guy looked just like Isaac!

“Bastard, how dare you come here again! Do you think you can come and go as you please?” Andrew roared.

This pulled Edward out of his reverie. He kept his eyes trained on Isaac and said coldly, “I don’t know where you came from, brat, but you need to apologize to my sister and nephew right now. If you can compensate us appropriately, I’ll consider letting you off easy.” Edward was sure that Isaac had been executed seven years ago. Back then, a friend of his had been working for the authorities, and he’d personally given Edward a call to tell him that he’d witnessed Isaac being taken to the execution site. He was sure the man before him wasn’t Isaac. They merely looked the same.

Isaac chuckled. “How much do you want me to pay, then?”

“A million dollars for our medical fees and emotional distress. Not a single cent less, or we won’t let you off the hook!” Margaret shot to her feet and held out a finger. Her face was still red and swollen, and she looked rather ridiculous.

Isaac was amused by the amount she’d asked for. On the other hand, Allegra was taken aback. She didn’t expect her mother to ask for a million dollars. Isaac said, “I don’t have any money for you, but let me remind you that I’ll be moving in here with Allegra and Bella the day after tomorrow. I don’t think it matters whether I’m really Isaac Garten anymore, does it?” He walked toward Edward.

Margaret’s expression turned steely at his words, and she cried, “Edward, did you hear that? This bastard’s not going to compensate us even after injuring us. You have to help us!”

Edward pointed at Isaac. “You’d better think things through, brat. I’m buddies with one of the top dogs at the authorities from the east of the city, and he’ll be able to sentence you at a second’s notice!”

Isaac stopped and frowned, the realization finally dawning on him. “Oh, no wonder I was sentenced to death so quickly back then.” After that, he suddenly leaped toward Edward, giving him a tight slap. It rang out crisply, and with a pained cry, Edward landed on the floor.

Isaac looked down at him with his hands behind his back, his face void of emotion. “You wanted to know if I dared to lay a hand on you, right? You have your answer now. Someone like you is unworthy of acting so obnoxiously before me. If not for your father having students worldwide, you’d be a nobody.” He knew the Gould family’s history like the back of his hand.

Andrew’s lips twitched. He ran over to Edward and cried, “Uncle Edward, are you alright?”

Margaret was dumbfounded. The bastard had beaten Edward up! Did he have someone backing him up, or was he just insane?

Allegra was scared out of her wits when she saw Edward staggering to his feet with blood trickling from his mouth. She ran over to Isaac and shoved him weakly, saying tearfully, “Get out of here, get out! Why do you keep hitting people?”

Isaac wrapped his arms around her and embraced her tightly. She struggled but soon found that she couldn’t break free. She punched him while crying.

Isaac said to her tenderly, “Don’t cry. Just trust me. I know you’ve been through a lot, and you can rest assured that I’ll be able to bear the consequences of everything I’ve done so far. I’m no longer that weakling from seven years ago!”

“You can bear the consequences of everything you’ve done? I’d like to see you do just that, then.” Edward’s head was still buzzing, and his face burned. He pulled his phone out, his blood boiling. He didn’t bother telling Isaac how influential he was, even without his father’s reputation. Thanks to him, the Gould family was pretty powerful in Cloud City, especially since he was on good terms with the head of the Murray family, who used to be a student of his father’s.

Everyone in their social circle knew that the Murray family was backing Edward up, which had indirectly resulted in Margaret’s company having a say in the fashion industry.

Edward was outraged at the sight of Allegra still clinging to Isaac. As he flipped through his contacts, he pointed at Allegra and roared, “How dare you cling to that bastard like a whore when so much has happened! You’re heartless!”

“Allegra, get away from that man, or you can live with that ugly face for the rest of your life!” Andrew added. Margaret glared at her as well, gnashing her teeth and trembling with fury.

Edward said, “Just wait, you brat.”

Allegra wanted to break free of Isaac’s embrace, but he kept one arm tightly wrapped around her, and his masculine pheromones made her a little weak at the knees.

Isaac narrowed his eyes at Edward and said, “You’re the one who spoke to the old man at Beacon Clinic, right? Why would you treat your niece like that?”

Edward laughed derisively. “Mr. Crowe was more than willing to do me a favor. Doesn’t that tell you how powerful I am? No matter how much money you have, he won’t treat Allegra. There’s no chance of him treating her in this lifetime!”

Andrew pointed at Allegra and shouted, “You got some bastard to injure your mother and uncle, yet you’re still hoping to treat your face? You can stay ugly, you bitch!”

Allegra’s heart throbbed painfully at their words, and she couldn’t help weeping.

At this moment, Margaret took a deep breath and spoke up. “You seem to care about Allegra a lot. Let me put it this way—if you don’t resolve all the problems you’ve caused yesterday and today, there’s no way Mr. Crowe will treat her.” She could tell that Allegra was the only person he cared about here, and that was exactly like her good—for—nothing son-in-law!

Isaac couldn’t help sneering at their confidence and arrogance. “Oh, is that so? I wouldn’t be so sure. Not only will I have George Crowe treat Ally, but I’ll also make him do it for free. In fact, would you believe me if I were to tell you that he’ll be begging to treat her for free?” He looked at Margaret cockily.

At this moment, an anxious voice rang out from outside the villa. “Miss Allegra Booth, Miss Booth!” George hurried in, slightly hunched and looking panicked. He was followed by an equally panicked assistant who was holding his doctor’s bag.

Edward and Andrew were stunned to see him. “Mr. Crowe, what are you…”

“Fuck off!” Edward was about to greet George, but George angrily shoved him out of the way. He hurried over to Isaac and Allegra, looking at Isaac with terror-filled eyes. He pointed at Edward and said, “Mr. Garten, I made a huge mistake. This was all Edward Gould’s idea, not mine! He repeatedly begged me not to treat Allegra, and I was wrong to agree to it. I’m sorry, Mr. Garten.”

After that, he looked at Allegra with bloodshot eyes and said tearfully, “Miss Booth, I’m here to treat your face.”

Allegra was dumbfounded. She looked at him, her eyes wide with surprise, and stammered, “Mr. Crowe, I… No, why are you… Why so sudden…”

George suddenly got onto his knees before her and cried, “Miss Booth, please! Please allow me to treat you! I’ve already brought all the necessary medication and equipment!”
