Chapter 9
George’s sneer became more pronounced. “I can’t believe the balls on you. Just wait. Let’s see whether you’ll still have the nerve to cause trouble at Beacon Clinic once you’ve been taught a lesson.”

Isaac smiled. With his hands behind his back, he leisurely walked back over to the remaining sofa and sat down while giving Beefy Bob a look. The latter immediately knew what he wanted and pulled his phone out to make a call.

Beacon Clinic had many employees—probably more than 20 doctors and nurses. None of them dared to utter a word at the sight of the trashed lobby. Especially the receptionist that had spoken to Isaac and Allegra upon their arrival. Her back was drenched with cold sweat, and she hunkered down in a corner, feeling terrified. Countless government officials and business bigwigs were George’s patients, yet Isaac didn’t seem to be bothered by it.

The sirens stopped in front of Beacon Clinic, and four or five uniformed officials hurried in, looking stern. The one in the lead was a fat man in his thirties whose belly looked like it would spill out of his shirt. Someone was enjoying the luxuries that corruption brought.

As he entered the clinic, he was greeted by the sight of the lobby looking like a hurricane had passed through. He took in the groaning bodyguards, and his eyelids twitched when he saw Gregory rolling around on the floor. “Fuck me, is that Mr. Merck Jr.?”

“Officer Cork, you need to arrest this bastard who trashed my clinic and injured my security guards!” George sounded a lot more confident now that Officer Cork was here.

Officer Cork looked at Isaac, narrowed his eyes, then waved a hand at his men and said, “Get him!”

Beefy Bob bit down on his lollipop and shattered it as he stood before Isaac. His eyes were frosty as he said, “I’d like to see you guys try!” His humongous figure, booming voice, and grim expression were enough to pressure Officer Cork’s men into hesitating.

When Officer Cork saw this, he whipped out a gun from his holster and aimed it at Beefy Bob, shouting, “Move out of the way, or I’ll open fire!” The spectators gasped at the sight of the gun and backed away to avoid getting injured.

Beefy Bob was about to say something when Isaac strolled out from behind him. He walked toward Officer Cork, looking unruffled. Officer Cork, whose full name was Lester Cork, held the gun steadily, scrutinizing Isaac’s expression. There wasn’t a trace of fear or terror in his eyes, and his calmness made Lester feel a little flustered.

Only when Isaac was less than a yard away from the gun did Lester return to his senses. He roared, “Do you really think I won’t shoot you?”

Isaac looked him in the eye and chuckled. “I’m right here, but you haven’t even released the safety on your gun.” Before Lester could check the gun, Isaac had already made his move. Nobody saw what happened, but the gun had disappeared and reappeared in Isaac’s hand.

“You’ll be demoted at least three ranks for losing your gun. In fact, you’ll be detained if anyone were to get injured.” Isaac played with the gun and looked at Lester.

A bead of sweat rolled down Lester’s forehead. His men gaped at this scene. At this moment, the sound of brakes screeching outside the clinic reached everyone’s ears. This was then followed by the sound of synchronized footsteps, and everyone turned to look at the entrance to see two rows of armed soldiers in camouflage. They circled the lobby as a middle-aged man walked over to Isaac and saluted him. “Cloud City’s armed forces are here under orders to protect you, sir! We await your instructions, sir!”

Lester gaped at the soldiers and the man standing before Isaac, his face bloodless. On the other hand, George and the others seemed to forget how to breathe.

“Clear the site,” Isaac said calmly. He flung Lester’s gun out through the window and sat down. Before Lester could react, the middle-aged man waved a hand. The soldiers immediately sprung into action. In less than three minutes, only George, Isaac, Beefy Bob, and the people lying on the floor were left.

Isaac looked at George and said, “You’re willing to treat anyone who can afford your fees. Why won’t you treat Allegra?”

“You want me to treat someone for you after you’ve injured my men and trashed my clinic? Dream on! Your name’s Isaac Garten, right? I won’t let you off the hook!” George spat as he trembled with rage.

“I’ll ask you again—why won’t you treat Ally?” Isaac looked him in the eye, his voice so soft that he seemed to be talking to himself.

George hesitated. After everything that had happened today, even an ordinary person would be able to see that this man had a few tricks up his sleeve. Two seconds later, he roared, “Even if you kill me, I won’t treat that widow!”

Isaac smiled. “Stubborn, aren’t you? Alright, then. I’ll be waiting for you to come to me.”

In the car, Isaac looked out the window and said, “I want that old man to treat Ally today, so think of something. Also, find out where Ally is.”

Beefy Bob immediately made a couple of calls, then turned to Isaac and said, “Isaac, there are too many pests here. I have a lackey who’s doing pretty well for himself at the provincial capital. Should I speak to him?”

“The more you deal with pests, the easier it’ll be for you to handle tough situations. Take it as a form of training, Beefy Bob,” Isaac said.

Beefy Bob nodded, although his expression revealed he didn’t understand what Isaac meant. He said, “Allegra’s gone to the villa at Riverview. I’ll drop you off there before talking some sense into this old man.”

Ten minutes after Isaac and Beefy Bob left, three luxurious cars stopped at Beacon Clinic’s entrance. An old man in a dark suit jogged inside, looking anxious. Seven or eight bodyguards ran after him.

The old man barged into the lobby and looked like he was going to faint at the sight of Gregory lying on the floor. He knelt next to Gregory and wailed, “Mr. Gregory, are you alright? Mr. Gregory, can you hear me?” When he saw how pale Gregory was, he looked up and shot to his feet, bellowing, “Who had the nerve to injure Mr. Gregory so badly?” Despite his age, his voice was booming.

George’s eyes lit up, and he hurried over to him. “Mr. Sutton, you’re a little too late. The man who injured Mr. Merck Jr. is Isaac Garten. I don’t know anything about him yet, but I know he has something to do with Edward Gould’s niece.”

“Edward Gould’s niece? Isn’t that the woman Mr. Gregory was interested in?” Mr. Sutton’s eyes flashed coldly.

The sun shone brightly. Allegra sat on the sofa in the Riverview villa with her head lowered. It had been ten minutes since she’d arrived, and Edward had been reprimanding her since then. She didn’t dare to refute him, though.

The moment she’d stepped out of Beacon Clinic, Andrew had called her and told her Edward wanted to see her. She didn’t dare to refuse.

Edward was glaring at Allegra with a steely look in his eyes. “Do you know how impudent you were, getting a random man to beat up your mother and brother? Is there nothing up in that head of yours?”

Allegra looked at him tearfully and said, “Uncle Edward, I honestly don’t know who he is, and I didn’t expect him to get physical.”

Andrew scoffed. “You don’t know who he is? If you didn’t know him, why did you go to Beacon Clinic with him today? You wanted to ask Mr. Crowe to treat your face, didn’t you? How shameless of you!”

Edward added, “It’s a good thing I managed to catch Mr. Crowe after Andy told me there was a chance you’d go to Beacon Clinic. Otherwise, you probably would’ve been shameless enough to get that bastard to pay for your treatment!”

Allegra lowered her head and wept, feeling wronged. At the sight of her tears, Edward sucked in a breath and bellowed, “Call that bastard and tell him to get his ass over here! I’d like to see if he has the nerve to lay a hand on me!”

At this moment, an icy voice rang out from the entrance. “There’s no one that I don’t have the nerve to beat up. It all depends on whether I want to!”
