Chapter 8
George burst into laughter. “Damn, you’re an audacious one. Beacon Clinic has been in operation for over a decade, and our clients are bigwigs in business and politics. I dare you to break even a single vase here. If you do, I’ll make sure you spend the rest of your life in prison.”

Seeing that things were getting out of hand, Allegra turned to Isaac with a frown. “Stop talking already. Let’s just go.” Then, she said to George, “Mr. Crowe, I’m so sorry about this. I don’t want you to treat me anymore, so please don’t be mad.” She bowed to him.

George scoffed and gave her a sideways look. “At least you have some common—”

“Trash this place!” Isaac cut him off. Beefy Bob immediately sprang into action, lunging at a large antique vase. He lifted it up easily and dropped it on the floor, shattering it. George was dumbfounded—the vase was worth more than a million dollars.

Beefy Bob didn’t stop there, though. He grabbed a heavy wooden chair and smashed it on the floor, breaking it into pieces.

Allegra was exasperated to see Isaac sitting there, looking unaffected. She gritted her teeth and said, “You’re crazy. Out of your mind!” Then, she ran out of the clinic. He’d thrown Gregory out, and now, he was trashing Beacon Clinic. She knew he was doing it for her, but it wasn’t the right way of going about things. It would only lead to disaster for her and Isabella.

Isaac frowned when he saw her leave, but he didn’t go after her.

The ruckus alerted all the employees in the clinic. At George’s outraged bellow, more security guards ran in. They tried to stop Beefy Bob, but he sent them flying with a single kick. Beacon Clinic’s lobby was covered in debris before Isaac finished his cigarette.

Shortly after that, Allegra came back in. This time, however, Gregory pushed her in with one hand around her neck. His other hand was on his tailbone, his face twisted with pain. Two bodyguards were behind him. When he saw Beefy Bob smashing the computers, his heart sank.

The lobby was a complete mess—the vases, chairs, computers, and invaluable ornaments were in pieces. Isaac sat on the sofa with a cigarette in hand. When he saw Gregory come in with one hand around Allegra’s neck, he shot to his feet. When his and Gregory’s eyes met, Gregory pointed at him and growled at the bodyguards, “Kill that fucking asshole.”

George was trembling uncontrollably. He didn’t expect Isaac to really trash the place, and his heart ached—everything there was invaluable. He pulled out his phone with shaky hands and made a call.

The two bodyguards moved swiftly and steadily. They were clearly ex-army personnel. When they swung their fists at Isaac, Isaac didn’t even flinch. He kept his eyes trained on Gregory with his hands behind his back.

“You bastards must have a death wish!” Beefy Bob whipped around at the sight of the bodyguards attacking Isaac. With a beast-like roar, he flung a chair leg at them. It flew at the bodyguard in the lead with a whoosh. Before he’d realized what was happening, it stabbed him in the thigh. He let out a pained cry and fell to the floor, blood spurting everywhere.

The other bodyguard stared at him in horror, and Beefy Bob took the opportunity to hurtle toward him. When the bodyguard saw him, he swung a fist at Beefy Bob. At the same time, Beefy Bob threw a punch at him, and their fists met halfway.

A spine-tingling crack rang out, and the bodyguard’s face twisted. He heard the sound of his wrist fracturing, causing immense pain. Beefy Bob kicked him, sending him out of the clinic.

Silence descended upon the lobby. The spectators had their hands cupped over their mouths, seemingly able to hear their hearts pounding. Gregory was in disbelief. His bodyguards had been hired from Nox Security Company, and they were all retired army elites. How could Beefy Bob have taken them down without even breaking a sweat?

George had just hung up. He gritted his teeth and looked at Isaac with outrage.

Beefy Bob pointed at Gregory and asked Isaac, “What should we do with this guy?”

Isaac flicked the ash from his cigarette onto the floor, then said softly, “I’ll deal with him myself.” He slowly walked toward Gregory. When Gregory saw him approaching, his hair stood on end, and sweat beaded on his forehead. He bellowed, “Y—you bastard, stay the fuck away from me! If you harm even a hair on my head, t—the Merck family will be out for your blood!”

Isaac stopped a few yards away from him and took in Allegra’s fearful expression. He turned to Gregory and said, “Let Ally go, and I’ll consider leaving you alive.”

George was dumbfounded. “You’re too arrogant, brat! I’ve already called the authorities, and you won’t leave this place unscathed.”

The authorities? Allegra’s heart sank. Ever since Isaac’s death seven years ago, she couldn’t help feeling afraid whenever she heard anyone mention the authorities.

On the other hand, Gregory burst into laughter at Isaac’s words. “Leaving me alive? I really have to applaud you for your courage—this is the first time I’ve heard someone say that to me. Come on, then, show me what you’re made of!” He pointed at Isaac and growled, “If you don’t kill me today, I’ll definitely send you to the grave in the future!”

The moment his words fell, Isaac moved. He was so quick that no one even saw what he did. Almost instantly, he appeared before Gregory and stuck a hand between him and Allegra. He grabbed Gregory’s arm and gave him a light push. To Gregory, however, the grip around his arm was vice-like, and the force pushing him away was unstoppable.

The next second, Isaac lifted his right leg and kicked Gregory’s left kneecap. A crisp crack rang out, and his kneecap immediately shattered. At the same time, Allegra felt a force tugging her forward. She ended up in Isaac’s arms and looked up to meet his gaze. “I won’t let anyone harm you,” he said softly.

A tormented scream rang, and Gregory rolled on the floor while clutching his left leg. Allegra turned to look at him, her soul almost leaving the body when she saw his state. Had Isaac broken his leg?

“You, you jerk! Do you know how much trouble Bella will be in because of your actions?” She shoved Isaac away and backed up. “Do you know how powerful the Merck family is in Cloud City? Why would I have disfigured myself if not for Bella? You’re nothing but an asshole!” She clapped a hand over her mouth and ran out of the clinic.

At this moment, George sneered. “At least she still has a modicum of common sense. Now that you’ve injured Mr. Merck Jr., just wait for the Merck family to come after you.”

Isaac didn’t expect Allegra to be so afraid of Gregory. He knew her disfigurement was related to him, but he still didn’t know the details. To him, there was no use in rushing these things. He had to leave Gregory alive; he didn’t want him to die an easy death!

He turned to look at George and asked, “Do you think the authorities can take me away?”

In the distance, ear-piercing sirens were approaching.
