Chapter 3

"There is certainly no mistake here young Master, it's just me."

"Was it a prank or simply a joke because it certainly wasn't funny." He thought.

First, it was betrayal and then all of this. And to think that it was all happening within such a short space of time made his thoughts scattered all over the place.

The man standing before him could see the reluctance in his eyes and he stretched his hands towards him once again.

"I know it's going to be very difficult for you to process this bit, don't worry, I am going to explain every single detail of it to you. Just come with me." His hands were still stretched out towards him.

Joshua's eyes caught a glimpse of his hands and back at it first and finally, I decided that I was going to join him

Besides, there was absolutely nothing worth losing there.

They got into the car and it too off off slowly and the music flooded into my ears

Certain thoughts clouded my mind at the moment as the driver continued to drive.

Finally, they were there at the large villa.

It was the most beautiful building that his eyes had ever caught up with and he marveled at the beautiful sight.

"Come with me." He heard the man saying.

With every single step that we took further into the house, my heartbeat raced ten times faster.

As they continued to walk gradually into the Villa, Everyone bowed before them, spilling the young master, their words sending strange chills down his spine.

And finally, they got into the room and a man was sitting at the far end of the chair. His eyebrows were finely trimmed and his face glittered in the natural sun rays that flooded the room giving it a natural feel.

His eyes caught a glimpse of him almost immediately and random thoughts ran through his mind as to who he could be.

"Young Master Joshua, it has been such a very long time. I never thought that I would get to see you again." The voice of the man was delicate but pierced through like a sharp-edged sword.

He was still confused as he continued to stare blankly at the strange man that stood before him.

"What's really going on and why has everyone been referring to me as young master?" He could no longer help the suspense and inquired.

"Your father died really early . He was actually assassinated.

He left all of this behind for you but with a clause. He never Wanted you to end the way that he did so he instructed us to clothe your birth from the outside world, sending you to live a normal life until you turn 21 and I am only a caretaker young master. It's finally time for the rightful owner to take over his rightful position."

As much as he wanted to believe what he just heard, he knew within him that it was too good to be true and there was no need to hide it when the truth was certainly going to be revealed.

"I think that you have made a mistake here. My father wasn't a noble man, you have gotten the wrong person." He tried to challenge his words but he only chuckled.

"Have I mistaken your name too? Joshua James?" His words pulled off the breath from his truth but Joshua still found it difficult to believe it.

"I think this is a mistake, sir." He replied.

"Don't worry, I already got all of this covered." He mumbled.

Joshua heard footsteps from behind. It was familiar, causing him to turn around to see who it was.

His jaw fell apart in total shock while he continued to stare back at her, taken aback by the shock that ran through his vines.

"Mother? What are you doing here? I thought that you were sick. You are supposed to be at the hospital.. How did you get here ?" Multiple inquiries flooded from his mouth.

Her feet drew closer to him almost immediately and she tapped him slightly by his shoulders.

"I know this is difficult for you but Mr. Maxwell is telling the truth. Your father died at a young age and you were placed under my care Joshua while Mr. Maxwell here took care of your father's property." She explained.

He could already feel the tears welling up gradually in his eyes as he continued to stare right into her eyes.

"If my father was so rich. Then why are we living like peasants? And not in a mansion like this one?" His eyes sought an explanation from his mother.

"Because that is the test that you had to pass. Your father warned us not to expose you to his wealth until you are twenty one. You might think of him as wicked, but not when he has lost one of his sons already. I assure you that he was only trying to protect you and at least, for you to gain some survival skills." She explained.

"So I had a father?" His bones were shattered and he could already feel tears forming in his eyes but he pushed them back almost immediately.

When he thought that he could no longer take it, his foster mother drew over to him, tightening him around his hands.

"You don't have to worry anymore. It's all over now and the only thing that you have to do now is enjoy the fruit of your labor." Her grip was firm around him.

"The money in your account, that's just what you get for passing the test." The smile on the face of Mr. Maxwell was revealed.

The thoughts about how he had been humiliated flushed through his mind almost immediately and he could feel his heart beating hard against his chest.

And there was a strange energy surging through him like a well of rushing Waters.

"Welcome back heir of the Keystone family." He noted.
