Chapter 4

Immediately he spat out the words from his mouth everyone in the room fell on their knees chatting the same words that the man just spat out from his mouth.

His feet spanned around as his eyes caught a glimpse of every single person in the room.

He waited for a few moments for them to rise from their bowing position but they didn't seem like anyone was ready to rise anytime soon.

"Can we rise, master?" He heard the voice of the man and for the first time, he realized that they were waiting for him to tell them to rise.

"Sure, please." He replied... His voice was slow since he was not familiar being put in such a position.

"I know that this is very strange to you but I am sure that you are going to get a hold of it soon. In the meantime, I am going to introduce you to someone who is going to make things easier for you." He heard the man saying.

After waiting for a few moments, the sound of the thinking clock seemed to go even ten times faster than it was already.

Soon, Mr. Maxwell could no longer stand it. He pulled out his latest iPhone 15 from his pocket and placed a call.

There was a trace of rage in his voice and his hands were constantly hitting the hands of the table at regular intervals

Soon, the caller at the other end picked up the soon

"Do you expect the whole of us to be waiting for you?" There was fury.

"I'm sorry sir, I am already there." The voice of the caller, though a little bit distressed, was the most delicate thing that he had heard in a long time.

A cracking sound came from the door and he could not help but pull his face to the direction of the sound.

His eyes were transfixed on the raw beauty that stood before him. And even though she was under some sort of distress, she was still beautiful.

She walked gradually towards the strange man and bowed slightly for a while.

"I'm sorry for the delay that I caused here sir. I was held in traffic." She tried to explain but the frown that was hanging on his face would not disappear.

"You should not be apologizing to me, you should be apologizing to the young master."  His eyes moved away from her and wandered over to the point where Joshua was standing.

Without a single trace of hesitation in her step, she stormed over to him with her head fully bowed.

"Master, I am very sorry and I certainly deserve to be punished." The only thing that Joshua could think about was the sound of her voice and he was hardly listening to a word that she was saying now.

"I will do anything to make amends." Her next words jerked him off from his thoughts.

"There is no need for that. This is Hoytoop City and we are all used to the traffic here. That should not be a problem." He assured

"Thanks, master." She appreciated him raising his head from the position that it was.

She snapped her fingers and two security officers Walked into the place with a tray in their hands.

There was a dark darkness on it with his name fully inscribed on it. He continued to stare at it until Helena nodded her head.

Even the slightest age was so smooth and soft, unlike any other card that he had ever laid his hands on.

"And?" He could not help but inquire.

"That's a gift from your father specially prepared for your twenty one years birthday. He had always wished to give it to you himself. But." There was a sudden pause.

"It contains the sum of a billion dollars." She announced.

His eyes popped up from his eye socket at the sound of the word that he just heard.

It just seemed too good to be true not when he had been living all this while in abject poverty.

"How wealthy is this my father's business?" The words finally escaped from his mouth.

"Your father is a deci-trillionaire, the first that the world has seen." She announced with a hint of a smile on her face.

He had recently heard about the company that finally broke the oil chain and climbed such a ladder.

From what he knew every single company in the city was dying to have a partnership with this company.

"Who could have thought..."

"That you are the real owner of this company?" The stranger completed the words.

"Your father, he made a list of what he wants your first few days to look like."

"And that would be? I would love to know." He ran his hands through his hair almost immediately.

Helena skimmed through the screen of her cell phone and upon getting the point, she finally stopped scrolling.

"There will be a party by evening so I think that we should all be getting ready already. I already prepared a venue." She announced.

"And you will be coming with your wife or girlfriend? Your father specially prepared a gold chain for her." Helena brought it out from the case.

His eyes caught a glance of it  and noticed that it was the one that she had always wanted but did not have the money to afford since there were only two types in the city.

Another sad sigh escaped from his lips, taking it away from her and folding it into his hands.

"We just broke up." He announced.

"I'm sorry about that." There was a trace of sadness in her voice.

"You don't have to. She was never worth it." He ended

For the first time since he could remember, he took a steam bath and got the perfect rest that he had ever wished for in years.

His eyes were replaced on the top ceiling still trying hard to comprehend everything. From being the poor scumbag that everyone made a mess of to the richest man  in the City

Soon he fell asleep but it wasn't long before he heard a knock from the door. Helena walked in and stared at him.

"It's time master, for the truth to be revealed to the world." The smile that was hanging on her face was enough to brighten the whole universe.
