Epic of the Broken Immortal Maxamillion
Matthew proceeded up the stairs and knocked on the doors which was followed by a simple "Come in." The office was simple in design, but that didn't mean that the items were of low quality. The man behind the desk was a bit stocky with a head full of blonde hair with a touch of grey in his similarly blonde beard. He had an intense stare as Matthew came to stand at his desk. "How is your father doing?" the man asked after a long awkward silence "He is doing well, and he is off on business in another city currently." Matthew said a bit confused. Another long pause ensued as the man reviewed some paperwork that he eventually passed over to Matthew. "These forms are for your enrollment into the union. They also detail the communication device that you will be given in the event of an emergency. Your hunter grade will start out at will be copper. Complete
Epic of the Broken Immortal A New Regimen
Returning home with the sword on his back, Matthew felt tired due to the fact that the sword, of unknown make, was actually fairly heavy despite its size. Placing the sword down he got out the old book and began to skim through it. He had remembered seeing a training method for getting use to a sword and some training forms that would help with this. The forms he came across mentioned that a sword's weight should match its use. A slashing sword should be slightly on the heavy side while a piercing sword should be light and even gave some brief depictions of said swords. The sword that Matthew had received was in fact designed like a piercing sword in the fact that it had a nice narrow point, but its weight and dual edges clearly were meant for slashing. The weight was another confusing factor since it was too heavy to be either. That was until he turned to the next page and found a section on what was called a ruler sword.&nbs
Epic of the Broken Immortal Weilding a Sword
Before getting to his new training with the sword, he had to do the rest of his mental exercises. Beginning his perception training, he felt that the block at thirty feet just needed the right push. He began to use the same pulse method that he had used before and slowly the block crumbled, leaving his new limit at thirty-three feet. Satisfied with this, he then moved on to enhanced memory. Starting like before, creating a tiny mana sphere, he began to build it up. The whole time he was working on it he could feel the sheer amount of mana that he had to put into it was immense. It took him an entire hour to make the sphere the size of a marble where in the past it had only taken him roughly twenty minutes. Unable to cope with the mental burden any further at the moment, he turned his attention to the sword. Making his way outside, he began to imitate the sword technique that he had learned from the book. He was able to pull this off due to his hard built foundatio
Epic of the Broken Immortal It's Time
The last day of his weekend, Monday, Matthew was sitting on his bed working on his bone refining. He could feel that it was almost finished and he was trying to speed up the process. He didn't care what kind of pain this would cause him, he just knew that he had to finish it. A strange power was emitting from his bones as the last layer was cracking and breaking down. Minutes passed and it finally happened, the last layer broke apart and started to fuse with the already refined bone. He had finally finished the beginning of the technique he had been practicing. It happened when the last little bit of bone finished fusing. A wave of power passed through is body touching every inch of it down to the last cell. It was soothing to say the least as that warm sensation lasted for just a few minutes. *Ding* *Status updated* *Strength - 9 -> Strength 11* *Endurance - 9 -> Endurance 11* *Stone body acquired* Matthew almost fell off the bed when he heard the notifi
Epic of the Broken Immortal Abused
It didn't take long for his mother to swing by and take his order. She greeted him happily and made short small talk with him for a moment before making her way back to the kitchen. The restaurant was a nice homey place with a warm atmosphere and was a little noisy due to sell of warm mead. It didn't take long for his mother to come back with his food before rushing off to deal with other customers. Since there wasn't a drinking age he helped himself to the mug of warm mead that his mother had placed on the table in front of him and began to dig into the hearty meal. The meal consisted of boars meat, vegetable stew, sweet bread, and fresh greens. It had been a while since he had eaten such a big meal, but he was going to treat himself this time because of his recent success. He hadn't even realized until he finished wolfing down the meal that he had even eat the bones of the boars hindquarters until he looked down at his completely clean table. Another notable fact w
Epic of the Broken Immortal Lecture
Arriving at class after having complete his training, Matthew was greeted with lectures. Their contents mostly didn't apply to him either because he didn't have an affinity or simply couldn't use mana for the most part. The lectures on skills and monsters were something that he was very interested in though. "Skills are given by the system as a reward for completing certain tasks. They can come in various forms, from passive skills that work in the background like regeneration or active skills like mana sprint. There are plenty of skills out there that we have yet to discover and simply because we haven't met the requirements to activate them." Mr. Falls stated "Mr. Falls, how do we find out the requirements of this skills if no one has ever activated them before?" Jeff asked "Skills can still be researched even if we have never seen them. That is the entire purpose of the institute. They have a specific skill set that allows them to find skills and put resea
Epic of the Broken Immortal Request
Reaching the hunters union, Matthew made his way to the request counter. The only request he could take were of the copper grade so he began to take a look through them. Most were gathering requests for various herbs with very few being for monster materials. Materials gathered from monsters could be used to make armors, weapons, and various tools. "I'll take these two requests please." Matthew said The person behind the desk nodded as she loaded the information on his communication device. This would help him keep track of the area that he had to search for the things he was searching for and the materials he had to gather from the monsters. Having accepted the requests, he made his way to the city gates to head toward the area for his requests. He had made sure to accept request in the same area. The herbs he had to gather were for healing solutions and the monsters he had to hunt were a dog like creature that had stripes and long fangs like a saber tooth.
Epic of the Broken Immortal Precarious Stituation
The receptionist, could only stare at the youth in front of him. He was covered in blood from head to toe and his clothes were tattered with deep cuts all over his body. Then he looked down at the heavy bag of materials that was resting on the counter in front of him. There were at least triple the materials that his request had called for and one particularly large specimen with long green fangs. *Three hours earlier* * * It took Matthew about fifteen minutes to prepare his bait and set up an ambush. Now, all he had to do was wait for his prey to make their appearance. It didn't take long for the first saber wolf as they were called to show up. This one was a little on the slender side indicating that it was either young or hadn't eaten in a while. Before his prey could dig into the bait, he swooped down from the branch he had been hiding on and beheaded it. His blade met with no resistance as it cleaved straight through. He then very quickly broke down the

The spark's light did not waver from dim to bright like was usually described in books. It held a constant soft glow like a star in the night sky. The next thing that happened was that he began to notice small tendrils of mana that were spreading outward from his mana core to the rest of his body. He realized fairly quickly that they were spreading out to incorpor

A light in the darkness
The fourth day in the training room came as Matthew continued to focus his mana to the center of the spiral in his mana core. By this time, the spiral was half the size it was originally, and mana it was made of was thick and slow moving. He had begun to sweat from the intense struggle he was having by forcing his mana to condense. Slowly, his mana was condensing to become like thick clouds instead of thin and wispy like fog. This was the prerequisite to ignite his spark, as the mana had to be dense enough to sustain it long enough to stay lit. Once the spark came into existence, it would have to be continuously supplied with mana so that it wouldn't go out. It wasn't until the level of mage that it would stay lit without a constant supply of mana. If the spark went out, he would have to start over from scratch.Slowly, the spiral began to stagnate its movement under its own weight. For a long moment, nothing happened. Just when it seeme

The stage is set
Matthew was drawing large currents of mana into his core to saturate it to the point of there not being anymore space inside it. It didn't take him long due to the amount of mana that he already had stored. If someone looked inside his core at the moment, what they would find was a swirling mass of purple mana that looked vaguely like a small hurricane. The next step he had to take was to push the walls of his mana core to the point that it expanded to the normal grade. This was the hardest part as his reinforced core was very sturdy and might develop cracks if he expanded it too fast. Cracking his core at this point would take him days to fix even with his enhanced recovery and the amount of mana he would have to use to do so would equal the amount he needed to expand his core by several fold. It took him a little over a full day in the training room to reach the threshold of the normal grade core. All he need was a small push with a little more mana that he had to

Something Wicked
A ways away from the town, in a desolate part of the wilderness that featured no life, something stirred. It was a large humanoid creature with random pieces of armor attached to it. This creature was once human that had died and become one of the monsters that it once sought to destroy. The undead were not that uncommon in the world since the vast number of humans that hadn't been able to adapt to mana had died. Some became unholy creatures of the dark even to include vampires. Generally speaking, vampires and the werefolk were much more rare than the standard undead and usually want to live in peace versus seeking out humans to devour. This particular undead was on the move and was headed in a particular direction. It was a peak pawn grade existence that was only a step away from the knight grade. If it advanced, it would become an unstoppable force of nature for most. Soon, it would reach its destination and wreak havoc. * * * Matthew stood

Refining Again
Matthew decided to start his training anew with refining again. Since it was the weekend, he would be able to do this and take on a few missions to restore his funds that he had spent. He didn't want to work on mana skills just yet seeing as his core was still stabilizing. Starting from scratch, he focused his own mana to his marrow. His mana was now entirely converted with the gravity affinity, making it feel heavy inside his bones. His mana spread out and joined the mana already present causing it to be converted as well. He felt virtually no pain this time as his marrow was already quite tough and resistant to pain. He went a full hour before he had depleted the mana in his core. He could already feel the difference as he felt that he was slightly sluggish due to the increased weight of his marrow. Now that he was finished, he made sure to gather and convert some more mana. The difference was however that his mana value had increased since

Prize
The finals had concluded and Matthew was ready to head home. However, he wouldn't get his wish right away as it was time for the prize ceremony. Third place received a medal and two days in a meditation chamber. These chambers allowed someone to advance rapidly since they enhanced the strength of a mana core and the absorption rate of mana would be increased due to the concentration of mana. Second place received a medal, four days in a meditation chamber, and personal training from the head instructor. This was rather good since the head instructor was at the peak of the mage level and could give many pointers. Matthew received the first place medal, a week in the meditation chamber, personal training from the head instructor, and a manual of his choosing. If he had known this he would have waited to buy the gravity manual. At least he could aquire more advance mana techniques that would allow him to rapidly increase his strength and make him more ver

Overwhelming
Matthew arrived at school where his class quickly made their way to the arena. They quickly found their seats and awaited the announcement that would detail the last matches of the tournament. It didn't take long for the arena to fill up and the announcer to make his way to the center of the stage. "There has been a change in the line up of the final matches. There will now be one match where it will be three against one. The three contenders will have to remove a red waist band from their opponent to claim victory. On the other hand, if all three of them are knocked from the ring or otherwise subdued, the main contender will be the victor. Are there any objections?" The announcer said The audience was silent as no one had an objection to this change. They all turned to stare at Matthew since he was sitting in the front row. Most hadn't seen his match, but the ones that had didn't believe the other three would come out victorious still.

Push
Matthew spent the next few days before he would have to attend the finals for his classes working on his affinity. He couldn't hold anymore mana in his core at the moment and it wasn't strong enough to be enlarged yet. The book he had purchased was very vague to say the least when it came to the skills he could learn for the gravity affinity. The majority of the book was just the theory of application and not the actual use of gravity. This meant that he was basically on his own. The first thing he would have to do is convert his mana which was fairly simple. He started like he always did with a pin sized dot. This dot would draw in his mana and covert it naturally now that it was stable. As long as he had mana in his core, it would be converted and kept separate from the rest of his mana and show up on his Stat page by itself. The skill he was currently working on was called Push. The theory behind the skill was to direct his converted mana out of his body a

Affinity
When his mana core was finally healed, he felt a strange connection to the Earth. It was like he was being drawn to its core and was extremely heavy. This was the beginning of his awakening to an affinity. Every person had a different experience and they all had to train their affinity differently even if it was the same one as others. *Ding* *System updated* *Affinity - Gravity* He had gained an amazing affinity to the very workings of the world itself. Very few were blessed in such a way and he felt grateful for the book his grandad had left that gave him this opportunity. 'Now I'll need skills that will allow me to use this affinity in the proper way. Should I think about purchasing them or should I develop some to suit my needs.' Matthew thought to himself Skills could be learned or developed depending on the circumstances. Just like the roar skill he had learned, other skills could be learned naturally while applying one's self
