CHAPTER 132

Della’s reaction was a look of serene elegance as she raised an eyebrow with her grace unfazed by Alan’s ranting. “We just got to know each other officially. I thought we would be starting on a better note than this.”

“I just need to know who you are,” Alan responded, his tone calmer this time. “I know you already told me your name but I’m sure that you know what I mean. Not once have I seen you before today - not even when I was —”

Alan was going to say that he hadn't even seen her when he was an errand boy under Mr. Billing but he stopped his words halfway so that he wouldn't reveal too much of his past to someone that he doesn't even know well.

Della spoke with a soothing balm and a compassionate understanding that watched over Alan. She wasn't his enemy anyway so why would she make him have ideas that perhaps she had an issue with him?

She had to stop with the mind games, Della reasoned.
