But she couldn't respond to his questions at that moment. She was in a very tense situation and peeping through every nook and cranny to find out where it was best to go through.

Ms. Elaine’s footsteps were hurried as she paced through the shadows. She noticed that there was an elevator through which she had to go to reach the ground floor.

The elevator was the easiest route because it was going to get her to the ground floor very quickly. She could also use the stairs but she didn’t want to risk any of the junior aides who had just been excused from Mayor Carney’s office to find her. She knew that they were going to ask her questions that she didn't have the time to respond to.

Her body shook with fear and her feet carried her as swiftly and quietly as possible as she sought to stay hidden from view.
