43. The News and Eldridge 

"How did you do it?" Davis asked in wonder, his mouth agape like a child beholding something fascinating for the first time. He hadn't expected the reporters to back off so easily, yet they did, and Isabella got into the car.

Still, Isabella didn't answer Davis' question. Her responses were conveyed through a smug smirk that played gently on her cheek like traffic lights. And to Sophia, who looked at her in this very moment, Isabella seemed to remain seething with vexation, akin to African bean cakes dropped into hot oil.

"Let's go," Isabella suddenly voiced, and like an obedient servant obeying his master, Davis gently placed his finger on his car's start button. Immediately, like a lioness roaring in the jungle, the car came to life again.

As he turned the car wheels to the right and gently pressed his foot on the pedal, guiding the car out of the park and toward the beach house gate, where the security personnel had already created a path, Davis glanced at the car's rearview mirror
