MONTHLY ALLOWANCE

Blessing sniffled and then looked away from Mary to clean underneath her nose.

Mary, who watched the girl and felt that something was off about her, grimaced. The girl who left in anger didn’t look the slightest bit angry anymore and Mary wondered what had happened.

“Blessing, are you sure you’re okay?”

Blessing cleared her throat and looked down at her grandmother who was at the bottom of the stairs while she was standing in the middle.

“Why wouldn’t I be?” She asked

Mary shrugged and replied “I don’t know, you just seem off a little”

“I’m fine. I don’t know why you would think that but nothing is going on with me”

“You sure—?“

“Yes, I’m sure! Anyway, what’s going on? It looks like you were looking for me but what’s the reason?” Blessing asked, pretending like she didn’t know what was going on or that she hadn’t eavesdropped on the entire conversation between Mary and Alexander.

“That’s right! I have really good news to tell you, but before I do, please come with me” Mary stretched
