It was already late in the afternoon but Ezra and Mira could not still find an inn where they would rest their weary heads, making them feel very frustrated. When they had first entered the village, they had thought it would be very small but they were proven wrong immediately. The village was very large, almost as large as a town with several buildings. And to make matters worse there was a large number of people going about their daily businesses. It was as if people from different walks of life had all piled up here after living their lives to the fullest.
"I'm already very tired and need to eat," Mira complained. "I'm not like you who can go on walking for hours without feeling hungry or tired."
"It's all thanks to my system," Ezra replied immediately. "But that doesn't mean I'm a god. I can still go hungry and tired."
Mira chuckled but didn't retort him. Instead, she playfully stared at him before saying, "Let's find a restaurant where we can eat. We've already run out of supplies."
Ezra narrowed his eyes before checking his bag for the dried meat he had packed earlier only to realize that there was none. He couldn't help but turn to look at Mira as he said, "Don't tell me..."
"Believe me, I wouldn't have done this if I was not very hungry," Mira said, her eyes becoming sparkly. This was a trick used by women to gain pity from men and Ezra was very much aware of that. Hence he didn't fall for it and looked away instantly.
"That's called stealing, Mira," Ezra said. "I think you need to be more disciplined. I need to teach you this instead of teaching you my fighting techniques."
"Huh?" Mira narrowed her eyes. "What are you talking about? It's not like I did anything—"
She wanted to say everything on her mind but Ezra glared at her, making her to keep shut instantly. Seeing this, Ezra secretly heaved a sigh of relief as he was not ready for any arguments with the young woman right now. There were a lot of things he had to focus on at this point in time. If it had been up to him he would have been traveling alone. But Mira had been there for him when he was so down to earth and needed love. Hence he decided to put up with whatever tantrum she threw. After all, he was in love with her even though he had not yet confessed to her.
"Women..." he finally muttered under his breath as he turned around so that he was not facing Mira.
"What did you just say?" Mira asked even though she had heard what Ezra said clearly. She just pretended that she did not hear in order to see Ezra's reaction and hear what he would say.
Again Ezra glared at her, cutting her expectations abruptly. She could not help but clench her fists in disappointment, her face flushing red.
"Look over there," Ezra said, pointing at a building made of wood like other buildings in the village. "I think that's a restaurant. We can eat there and then continue to find an inn where we can lay our heads."
When Mira heard this she beamed with smiles even though she was still feeling disappointed. And in a couple of seconds, the feeling of disappointment was washed away, replaced by a great feeling of joy.
"You're such an angel, Ezra," she said with her face full of smiles. "It just took you a couple of seconds to make me happy."
Why are you saying this, Miss? Ezra thought within himself. I thought you were very embarrassed when the coachmen mentioned that we were a couple...Why are you acting as if we're one right now?
But of course, Ezra couldn't say what he was thinking out loud. Instead, he smiled and said, "For every food you eat, your training will be extended by one hour."
"You're such a monster!" Mira immediately complained but there was nothing she could do to change Ezra's mind. After all, it was for her own good that Ezra was training her—so that she would become more powerful than she currently was.
The both of them walked to the restaurant under the prying eyes of the villagers. Obviously, the villagers had never seen anyone dressed so neat and chivalrous like Ezra and Mira were dressed. And before they even got into the restaurant they got a lot of attention.
"Why are they looking at us that way?" Mira asked, feeling uncomfortable. She even got the wrong idea that the villagers were staring at her lewdly.
"Just ignore them," Ezra said indifferently. "They're not going to bite."
"What if they decide to assault us?" Mira said while looking around. "I mean they look like people who love to harass young women a lot."
Hearing what Mira said made Ezra to almost do a facepalm as he said with a sigh, "Are you this timid? I thought I've trained you so much within those past few days?"
"I've not gotten a chance to test my combat skills so..." Mira said, "I'm not really that confident that I can take on a couple of thugs."
"I see..." Ezra said as he opened the door to the restaurant. "Then I'm going to make you have an experience."
"Wait...what?" Mira finally came to the realization of what Ezra meant and wanted to talk him out of it but the latter was already placing an order. So she let him be as they sat at the same table.
Soon the waitress came with the dishes that Ezra ordered, placing them at the table politely before walking away. Although they were very hungry they didn't immediately dig into the food and maintained their etiquette, eating slowly with elegance.
This made Ezra to wonder if Mira had been pretending to be very hungry just so that she would be able to share moments like this with him—a moment where the both of them had to sit at a table and eat silently while staring into each other's eyes.

Ezra Echelon Liberation System Chapter 1: Four Sect
The Council was enormous, and every time Ezra entered its vast halls, he felt a wave of awe wash over him. The Council Hall, hewn from the ancient white cliffs, was like the heart of the continent, where all power, authority, and tradition came together. The ceilings soared high above, adorned with detailed murals that told the stories of the Four Sects. Sunlight streamed through narrow, stained-glass windows, creating colorful patterns on the marble floors. As Ezra strolled down the hallway, the sound of his footsteps mingled with those of the guards, his tutors, and the quiet maids trailing behind him. Ezra found himself at the center of this little group, his eyes wandering to take in every detail of the hall. Tall banners lined the walls, each one representing one of the Four. The striking emerald green emblem of the Echelon sect stood out the most—a tree with branches that seemed to reach endlessly. It was displayed at every entrance, a constant reminder of the values the sect
Ezra Echelon Liberation System Chapter 2: Shackles of Betrayal
Ezra woke up to loud laughter and the sound of metal clinking. His head throbbed, a dull pain spreading behind his eyes like a hammer hitting his skull. He tried to move, but his body wouldn’t listen. Panic rose in his chest."What—"He blinked to clear his vision and looked around. His arms were tied behind him to a thick wooden post. The rough rope pressed painfully into his wrists with every small movement. The air was heavy, smelling of damp grass and sweat, and a cold wind chilled his exposed skin.It took a moment for Ezra to understand where he was: in a wide, open clearing surrounded by towering trees that stood like silent guards. The noon sun cast long shadows on the ground, revealing figures that Ezra recognized."No," he whispered.Tied to similar posts nearby were his family: his father, tall and proud even in this situation, his head lowered; his mother, her long hair messy, eyes shut as if she were still unconscious; and his two sisters, Lila and Mirel, looking small an
Ezra Echelon Liberation System Chapter 3: The Conqueror
As the warriors approached, Ezra noticed his family stirring. His siblings looked confused, but his parents had expressions that suggested they had anticipated this moment. Their eyes were filled with bitterness as they turned to Lorrin, who stared back at them with a blank expression."You... it was you?" Ezra's mother whispered, a mix of defiance and disbelief in her voice."Be quiet, woman!" Lorrin commanded, and a heavy silence followed. The atmosphere was thick with tension, broken only by the wind rustling the dry grass. Ezra felt the ropes digging into his wrists, binding him to the post. His sisters whimpered softly beside him, and his mother offered them a reassuring smile. Across the field, the executioners advanced, their weapons shining in the fading sunlight.Ezra's heart raced; he knew it was the end.In front of him stood the Archival warriors, a wall of armored men with cold, emotionless faces. Ezra Echelon Liberation System Chapter 4: Know Pain
Ezra's last sight before darkness enveloped him was his father's head hitting the blood-stained ground.A scream tore through the quiet plains, Ezra's voice raw and endless, filled with a loss too heavy to bear. No one rushed to calm him.The soldiers lingering near the execution site exchanged uneasy glances, their expressions hardening. They were familiar with death and despair; this was just another victim in the ongoing cycle of power and betrayal.Yet, Ezra's cries were different. They weren't the desperate pleas of a man seeking mercy or the broken sobs of someone succumbing to grief. His voice held a primal quality, a pain so profound it erupted from him, raw and unstoppable. It resonated in the ears of those around, a haunting reminder of their actions.A few soldiers began to whisper among themselves, their discomfort showing in their restless movements. "Someone shut that kid up," one grumbled, masking his unease with irritation. Another scoffed, spitting on the ground. "Wha
Ezra Echelon Liberation System Chapter 5: The Echelon System
Ezra blinked. A twisted, bitter smile formed on his lips, lacking any real humor. He felt mad, completely losing his grip on reality. It almost felt like a relief to slip into a false dream rather than face the harshness of the real world. With fingers he didn’t want to move—but did—he mentally clicked "YES."The screen flickered, and suddenly, streams of light filled the space around him. Ezra recoiled, instincts warning him of danger, but this light felt safe. It enveloped him, warm and gentle, like a cocoon. Strange symbols danced before his eyes, transforming into grim options."Choose your path: Warrior. Berserker. Liberator. Mage."Ezra gazed at the options, each glowing with its own allure. Warrior seemed straightforward, a choice his father might have made. Berserker, with its fiery glow, promised raw power and destruction, a way to unleash the anger he felt. Mage appeared distant and intellectual, requiring calm and thoughtfulness—traits he no longer possessed. Then, he heard

Chapter 18: Tenebrous Village
In the morning Mira and the coachman woke up only to see Ezra meditating. He had not gotten a single sleep throughout the night and had been keeping watch over them. This caused the both of them to be surprised, wondering if this was how every martial artist was.Mira walked toward Ezra who was seated cross legged with his eyes closed before saying, "Sorry to disturb you but it's morning already."Ezra whose eyes had been closed suddenly snapped them open in surprise as he looked around. He couldn't believe his eyes when he saw that it was morning already. He had just closed his eyes to meditate for some minutes only for it to be morning already. How did time manage to move so fast when he was meditating?"Good morning," Mira said again with a smile. "I can see the surprise on your face, showing that you had begun meditating a long time ago.""Morning," Ezra said as he stood up. "It was dawn when I began meditating. Chapter 17: Awkward Atmosphere
Ezra and Mira returned to the campfire after some minutes, causing the Coachman to be very surprised. This was because they had been looking for Ezra everywhere and now he had been found."Where did you go to?" the Coachman asked. "We all thought something bad had happened to you or you went somewhere far away."Although the Coachman was expressing his concern, Ezra couldn't help but frown slightly as he thought within himself, What kind of person do you see me as? But of course, he didn't say that out loud and instead managed a smile."We would have already reached a far distance now if you had not suddenly gone missing," the Coachman complained. "You got us stuck in one place and if not for your wife here I would have already left."My wife? Ezra's face turned pale when he heard the Coachman address Mira as his wife. He almost yelled that Mira wasn't his wife and was just his companion but resisted the impulse. He had to act manly even though the situation was very awkward.Mira on

"Ezra!" Mira's voice sounded again, but this time it was closer than before. Obviously, she had gotten close to the place where the Echelon system had transported Ezra.Ezra, who was still absorbed in his own thoughts, snapped back into reality after hearing Mira's voice. He immediately ran towards the direction of Mira's voice before answering, "I'm here!"Soon he met Mira who was panting as if she had just finished doing a marathon. Her entire body was drenched in sweat and her expression was very pale like someone who had just clawed her way out of the grave. For some moments both of them stood looking at each other without saying a word as if they were sculptures. As they looked at each other, different thoughts ran through their minds and they were just waiting for the right moment to act upon them.Mira was wondering where Ezra had been throughout the entire day. She was upset and wanted to yell at him for leaving her out in the open without anyone to watch over her. Worst of al
Chapter 15: Sword of Nirvana
When Ezra opened his eyes, he found himself lying under a tree. His sword was lying by his side, unsheathed as if he had fallen unconscious from fighting a very fierce battle where he was. Well, this wasn't the truth of the matter but what several people would believe. And it was actually very good for him because they wouldn't get the chance to know of his secret."Ezra!" he heard Mira screaming his name very loudly and immediately stood up. He didn't know how much time had passed in the Realm of Nirvana but it was already dark. He could literally see the moon high up in the sky.I can't imagine time moves very slow in the Realm of Nirvana! Ezra thought within himself as he grabbed his sword and sheath. I mean, I was just fighting Pharez for a couple of minutes and several hours have already passed in the outside world? This is really mysterious and deserves more research...As he recollected his thoughts he strapped his sword to his side after sheathing it, moving towards the direct
Chapter 14: Mission Accomplished
Pharez clenched his broadsword with both of his hands as he screamed very loudly, discharging large amounts of Qi into the surroundings. The trees swayed as their branches snapped, leaves flying here and there as puffs of dust rose high into the air. All the grasses around was swept into the air, clogging up the whole atmosphere so that visibility was reduced by a very great margin.I don't know what this guy's abilities are, Ezra thought as he observed the situation. On one hand, he uses explosive strength, which can weaken my Aegis of Dissonance, and on the other hand, he can manipulate qi better than anybody I've ever fought. This is like nothing I've ever seen before. This is true power, and I'm going to give it my all if I'm to win this!"Die you scum!" Pharez yelled in such a loud voice that thundered across the atmosphere, causing everywhere to seemingly shake as if an earthquake had just occurred. The sound was amplified by a very big margin, causing Ezra to be suddenly affect
