Ezra and Mira were still eating when a group of men walked into the restaurant. They were all dressed in black trenchcoats, swords strapped to their sides. Their expressions were extremely mean and their presence menacing. With every step they took everyone in the restaurant swallowed hard in fear, not daring to even look up.

The group of men caught the attention of Ezra and he turned his head to look up so that he could get a better view of them. This didn't deter him from eating his food as he continued to watch them slowly as they proceeded to the counter.

Mira who had also been eating looked up and saw the men. She then looked around and saw that everyone had suddenly become engrossed in their dishes. No one was chatting again or paying attention to their environment. It was as if suddenly had been pressed over their heads to make them behave that way.

"Those guys look like bad people," Mira said as she looked at the group of men who had finally gotten to the counter. "I just hope they don't cause trouble here."

When Ezra heard this he chuckled, causing Mira to be startled. She couldn't help but narrow her eyes as she asked, "Why are you laughing? Do you find what I said amusing?"

"No, I don't find it amusing," Ezra said as he popped a spoonful of rice into his mouth. "I'm just hoping they cause some trouble so that I can show them where they really belong."

"Yeah," Mira said. "That's so typical of you. I'm not so surprised."

"Why does it sound as if you see me as a bad person?" Ezra narrowed his eyes.

"No, no," Mira immediately waved her hands. "Why would I see you as a bad person? I would never see you as such after everything you've done for me."

"Oh please," Ezra said. "I don't want you reminding me stuff like that. It's already in the past..."

Meanwhile, the group of men got to the counter before stopping. One of the men who had been in front of the others walked forward before slaving his hand on the counter, causing it to shake violently. This made the restaurant owner to be very much afraid, shivering as if he had just met several ghosts at once.

"Where is the money you promised us yesterday?" the man who had hit the counter asked angrily. "You told us you're going to give it to us today so no more excuses!"

The restaurant owner immediately stammered, "Please, you have to show mercy! My business has not been good throughout this month. I didn't even have enough customers all through today!"

When the restaurant owner said that, the man who was obviously the leader of the gang who had entered the restaurant turned to look at the other men. Then they all burst out laughing as if they had rehearsed this action. They laughed so hard that tears ran down their faces. And when the restaurant owner was not expecting it, the leader of the gang grabbed him by the neck and lifted him off the ground.

Other people who had summoned the courage to look at what was happening found this scene very shocking because the restaurant owner was a fat man. But yet he was lifted off the ground by someone who wasn't even that muscular! This was nothing they had ever seen before and it made them to suck in cold breaths, not daring to even breathe out loud for the fear of being singled out by the gang members.

"Do you think I'm here for your lousy stories?" the leader of the gang asked, his laughing expression replaced by a very grim expression. His eyes were glaring deeply at the restaurant owner with murderous intent, causing the fat man to shudder uncontrollably.

"I-I'm really sorry—" the restaurant owner tried begging but the leader of the gang didn't have the patience to even listen to him. He slammed him on the wooden counter, causing it to break immediately. And with a loud thud the fat restaurant owner crashed to the ground, coughing out a mouthful of blood.

Mira who saw this immediately clenched her fists, feeling that this had gotten out of hand. She immediately turned to look at Ezra and said, "That bully is gonna kill that man! Shouldn't you be doing something to save him?"

Ezra looked into her eyes without saying anything for some moments before sipping his wine. He then said, "It's up to you to do something, not me."

"But those guys are more than ten!" Mira complained. "And they all have swords!"

"You're not confident in yourself, Mira," Ezra said. "But that's not a problem because at the right moment, you're gonna learn how to regain your confidence."

Mira wanted to say something but the gang members were already walking towards them. The leader of the gang stopped at their table before sneering, "You've been watching me for some time now without respect so I feel I really need to teach you a thing or two."

"And what's that?" Ezra asked without a trace of fear.

"Give me your wife and I might spare you!" the gang leader said, causing the other gang members to laugh very hard. He didn't even wait for Ezra or Mira to reply when he signaled one of his men to grab Mira.

And at this point in time, Mira had become so angry that she forgot about her fears some moments ago. Just before the man could grab her she moved very fast, clenching her right fist to deliver a punch to the man's face. The impact was so powerful that it sent him flying several meters away before crashing into a table.

Everything happened so fast that it took a couple of seconds for everyone to register what had just happened. But Mira didn't care because at that moment she had regained her confidence and was ready to show the gang members their rightful place!

  • Ezra Echelon Liberation System   Chapter 1: Four Sect

The Council was enormous, and every time Ezra entered its vast halls, he felt a wave of awe wash over him. The Council Hall, hewn from the ancient white cliffs, was like the heart of the continent, where all power, authority, and tradition came together. The ceilings soared high above, adorned with detailed murals that told the stories of the Four Sects. Sunlight streamed through narrow, stained-glass windows, creating colorful patterns on the marble floors. As Ezra strolled down the hallway, the sound of his footsteps mingled with those of the guards, his tutors, and the quiet maids trailing behind him. Ezra found himself at the center of this little group, his eyes wandering to take in every detail of the hall. Tall banners lined the walls, each one representing one of the Four. The striking emerald green emblem of the Echelon sect stood out the most—a tree with branches that seemed to reach endlessly. It was displayed at every entrance, a constant reminder of the values the sect

He tried to move, but his body wouldn’t listen. Panic rose in his chest."What—"He blinked to clear his vision and looked around. His arms were tied behind him to a thick wooden post. The rough rope pressed painfully into his wrists with every small movement. The air was heavy, smelling of damp grass and sweat, and a cold wind chilled his exposed skin.It took a moment for Ezra to understand where he was: in a wide, open clearing surrounded by towering trees that stood like silent guards. The noon sun cast long shadows on the ground, revealing figures that Ezra recognized."No," he whispered.Tied to similar posts nearby were his family: his father, tall and proud even in this situation, his head lowered; his mother, her long hair messy, eyes shut as if she were still unconscious; and his two sisters, Lila and Mirel, looking small an

Ezra's mother whispered, a mix of defiance and disbelief in her voice."Be quiet, woman!" Ezra's last sight before darkness enveloped him was his father's head hitting the blood-stained ground.A scream tore through the quiet plains, Ezra's voice raw and endless, filled with a loss too heavy to bear. No one rushed to calm him.The soldiers lingering near the execution site exchanged uneasy glances, their expressions hardening. They were familiar with death and despair; this was just another victim in the ongoing cycle of power and betrayal.Yet, Ezra's cries were different. They weren't the desperate pleas of a man seeking mercy or the broken sobs of someone succumbing to grief. His voice held a primal quality, a pain so profound it erupted from him, raw and unstoppable. It resonated in the ears of those around, a haunting reminder of their actions.A few soldiers began to whisper among themselves, their discomfort showing in their restless movements. Ezra blinked. A twisted, bitter smile formed on his lips, lacking any real humor. He felt mad, completely losing his grip on reality. It almost felt like a relief to slip into a false dream rather than face the harshness of the real world. With fingers he didn’t want to move—but did—he mentally clicked "YES."The screen flickered, and suddenly, streams of light filled the space around him. Ezra recoiled, instincts warning him of danger, but this light felt safe. It enveloped him, warm and gentle, like a cocoon. Strange symbols danced before his eyes, transforming into grim options."Choose your path: Warrior. Berserker. Liberator. Mage."Ezra gazed at the options, each glowing with its own allure. Warrior seemed straightforward, a choice his father might have made. Berserker, with its fiery glow, promised raw power and destruction, a way to unleash the anger he felt. Mage appeared distant and intellectual, requiring calm and thoughtfulness—traits he no longer possessed. Then, he heard

And to make matters worse there was a large number of people going about their daily businesses. It was as if people from different walks of life had all piled up here after living their lives to the fullest."I'm already very tired and need to eat," Mira complained. "I'm not like you who can go on walking for hours without feeling hungry or tired.""It's all thanks to my system," Ezra replied immediately. "But that doesn't mean I'm a god. I can still go hungry and tired."Mira chuckled but didn't retort him. Instead, she playfully stared at him before saying, "Let's find a restaurant where we can eat. We've already run out of supplie

All the grasses around was swept into the air, clogging up the whole atmosphere so that visibility was reduced by a very great margin.I don't know what this guy's abilities are, Ezra thought as he observed the situation. This is like nothing I've ever seen before. This is true power, and I'm going to give it my all if I'm to win this!"Die you scum!" Pharez yelled in such a loud voice that thundered across the atmosphere, causing everywhere to seemingly shake as if an earthquake had just occurred.
