Chapter 22: Getting An Inn

It took everyone in the restaurant several minutes to recover from what they had just seen. To them, the gang was the strongest set of people here. No one could even think of standing up to them much less fighting them. And yet a young woman had singlehandedly decapitated every member that had come to the restaurant by herself. It didn't even take her anything to effortlessly beat all of the gang members and leave them decapitated for life.

It was very shocking for them that they didn't know when they began moving towards her to thank her for saving them from the gang members. Even the restaurant owner wasn't left out as he picked himself off the ground with the help of his waitress and walked towards Mira.

"Thank God you're here to show these bullies their place!" one woman said with a scoff. "They've always been so full of themselves."

"Several lives have perished at their hands," another man said with a sneer. "They would have been better dead but you did a great job decapitating all of them. Now they're gonna leave with a big regret for the rest of their lives."

"Who's your martial art master? You're really good!" another man praised, his face full of smiles.

While they were praising Mira the restaurant owner broke through the crowd with his waitress and stood before Mira. With great difficulty, he bowed and said, "Thank you for what you've done."

"I...I only did what was necessary," Mira said, shrinking backward out of social anxiety. She wasn't used to getting too much attention so she was naturally anxious and inched her body towards Ezra who had stood up at some point in time.

"No, Madam," the restaurant owner said. "If you had not acted then my restaurant would have been gone. They would have also killed me as well and taken my waitress away."

"Are they that brutal?" Ezra asked, looking at the decapitated men who were lying sprawled on the ground in their own pool of blood.

When the restaurant owner heard Ezra speak, he couldn't help but frown slightly. This was because he had seen Ezra as a coward who only knew how to eat when his wife was fighting. The customers at the restaurant also had the same reaction as they looked at Ezra with displeased expressions.

"You shouldn't be asking this question," a bald man suddenly spoke. "After all you did nothing to salvage the situation. You were just sitting while your strong wife did all the work."

My...strong...wife? Ezra almost coughed out a mouthful of blood when he heard this statement. The Coachman had created an awkward atmosphere between him and Mira with a statement like this and here was this man repeating it. When were they going to ever learn?

"What crimes have these gang members committed?" Mira immediately asked in order to prevent Ezra from saying something nasty. She was also feeling embarrassed by what the man had just said so she knew how Ezra would be feeling as well.

The restaurant owner who had ignored Ezra immediately replied politely, "You can call me Mag."

"Alright, Mag," Mira replied, feeling that the interaction was getting too much. "Tell me everything about this gang. We're gonna stay here for some time so we need to know about them."

"Oh," Mag said with a warm smile. "That will be very lovely. At least during your stay, we won't encounter any more gangs."

So that's how it is, Ezra thought inwardly. You guys fawn over those who are stronger and look down on the weak. I'm just laughing at how stupid they are, thinking I'm way weaker than Mira...What would happen if they were to realize that I'm actually her martial arts teacher?

Mag then cleared his throat as he turned to the customers, "Please you can return to your seats and continue eating. I'll get the young men in the village to clean up this mess."

The customers grumbled something about wanting to talk to the young woman who had just saved them before turning around to head to their seats. And of course, they couldn't focus on their food because their attention was on Mira.

Seeing that his customers had left to eat, Mag turned to Mira and said, "You see, this gang is called the Pyramid gang. It was started by that man you cut off his limbs...After traveling out of the village, he learned martial arts and returned to terrorize the village in return for driving away bandits."

The Pyramid gang...Ezra repeated the name within his mind, wondering why the name sounded so familiar.

"The Pyramid gang usually killed people who stood in their way and sexually assaulted young women," Mag said. "Their crimes are so vile but we were so helpless against them until now. You see, this village is cut off from other parts of the nation and that makes us face difficulties at times—'

"That's all?" Mira asked, cutting him short. She was already sick and tired of the fawning attitude of the man. It was almost as detestable as seeing the gang leader approach her with the intention of taking her to bed.

"Yes, that's all," Mag bowed politely. "Now that you've dealt with them, there will be no gang for now. And since you're staying for a couple of times, the bandits will be afraid to come as well."

Don't get your hopes high, Ezra thought inwardly with a sneer. My system has ways of making things miserable for me...

"We're looking for an inn, do you care showing us where we can find one?" Mira asked as she picked her bag off the ground and slung it across her back. Ezra also did the same, preparing to leave. He had already eaten a lot of food and couldn't eat anymore.

"Sure," Mag said. "Miriam here will take you to the inn on the outskirts of the village."

When Mag said this, Miriam smiled shyly as she nodded shyly. Ezra pretended not to notice this and asked, "It's on the outskirts of the village?"

"Yes," Mag replied with a slight frown of displeasure. "Is there any problem?"

"No," Ezra immediately replied. After all, he was happy that he could get an inn in a village like this. Not every village had one.
