2025-04-10 16:36:20Mira had her sword drawn as she faced three men who had gotten into her room through the roof. They all had murderous expressions as they glared at her, studying her as they waited for the perfect time to strike.
Mira on the other hand was also observing them so that she wouldn't make any mistake in her moves. These men were obviously criminals and wouldn't hesitate to kill her so she couldn't afford to be careless.
I don't know why these guys are after me but I'm not giving them any chances, she thought to herself as she continued staring at them. Perhaps they got the news that I decapitated members of those gangs and they've come to take revenge...
She was still thinking when the men suddenly attacked, slashing at her from all directions. It was as if they had been waiting for this moment because they were all well coordinated, their movements syncing with each other.
Mira's eyes widened as she immediately moved backward to prevent herself from being surrounded by the men, raising her sword to block a sword that would have slashed her throat. The clanging sound as a result of the two swords colliding reverberated across the room as sparks flew off from the blades. The impact sent her sliding backward but she immediately recovered and blocked more swords that were coming her way.
"Attack her relentlessly!" one of the men yelled. "She's only a woman and won't be able to fare much against us! If we don't kill her then we will have to face the Boss!"
When the other two heard this statement they were filled with an inburst of adrenaline which caused them to attack more fiercely, leaving almost no space for Mira to dodge. Their swords began moving in blurs, making it difficult for the young woman to keep up.
These guys are really different from those gang members...Mira thought within herself as she struggled to keep up with the three men. They seem to have undergone more training and are good with the sword. If I don't find a way to escape then I would really be killed by them...
And it was at that moment she remembered Ezra. She then began blaming herself for the rash decision which she had taken moments ago. This was because if they hadn't quarrelled they would have booked the same room and men would have been no threat to her. It was at this moment that she realized that she had been very stupid.
"Keep on attacking!" the man who had yelled earlier shouted again. "She's finally finding it very difficult it keep up with us! When the time comes she'll be left at our mercy and we will quickly finish her without stress!"
The other men, as if waiting for this statement, gripped the hilts of their swords more tightly and increased their attacks more than before. In the end one of them succeeded in slashing Mira's arm, causing out to let out a wail of pain.
Mira staggered backward as she dropped her left arm which had been slashed, her expression twisting in agony. A deep gash was caused by the slash and blood was trickling from it, dyeing her dress crimson. It was very painful but she didn't dare give up as she gripped the hilt of her sword more tightly with her right hand.
"Now you've been wounded and have no ability to fight," the man who had spoken earlier sneered. "All you can do now is allow us to kill you so that it would be very much easier...There is no use even fighting us because you're outnumbered..."
When Mira heard this, she gritted her teeth in intense pain as she staggered backward again. Her entire left hand had become numb from the pain and she was becoming very dizzy. Just like the man had said she no longer had the ability to fight and was at the mercy of the three men. This was her end and no one was there to save her.
I shouldn't have made that decision of leaving Ezra, Mira thought in regret as she closed her eyes. He's my teacher, someone who has taught me a lot of techniques...He took me in when I had nowhere to go and the last thing I should have done was leave him...I'm truly ungrateful...
"Good," the man said with a nod, pleased that Mira was no longer going to put up any struggle. He was already becoming impatient because the fight had been dragging on more than usual. If there was this young woman who was good at fighting then there could many others in the village right now. He couldn't afford to be targeted by them so he wanted to leave the inn as soon as possible. And that was why he was pleased when he saw that Mira no longer put you a struggle.
"Now—" the man walked towards Mira and raised his sword, trying to slash her. But to his greatest surprise, her eyes suddenly flared open.
Ethereal Step!
Mira moved away quickly, dodging the man's sword which cleaved into the wall behind her. And without hesitation she raised her sword and slashed off the man's head, causing it to fly into the air. Everything happened so fast that it was only after the man's headless corpse fell to the ground that the other two reacted by showing shocked expressions.
The two men were shocked that Mira had actually managed to kill one of them, something that was impossible to achieve by a woman as young as she was. It wasn't as if the man who was killed by her was stronger than the two of them. It was because just like the two of them, the man was an insanely powerful tier-one assassin!
After slashing the man's head off, Mira gripped the hilt of her sword more tightly even when she felt like passing out. She panted as her eyes zeroed in on the remaining two men, her mind filled with determination to kill them as well.
"Since I'm going down, you're going down as well!" Mira yelled, her expression becoming extremely twisted. And it was at this moment she made up her mind to die, overcoming all her fears of death!
