Chapter 26: I'm Her Teacher

Ezra who was still running towards Mira's room suddenly stopped, moving sideways in order to evade a large axe that was coming for his head. When he dodged the axe he could literally feel the air rippling behind him, showing him how powerful the swing was. If he had been touched by that axe then he would have been instantly cleaved into smithereens. The attacker was powerful and on another level of strength, different from the other two who had just been killed by him.

"For someone who's weaker than his spouse you're quite fast," a voice remarked behind him, causing him to turn around immediately. Standing behind him was a huge man dressed in a black robe and holding a large axe, the veins on his hands bulging out imminently.

They still think I'm weaker than Mira and that's good, Ezra thought to himself. But doesn't that mean that they're gonna send someone more powerful after her? When that happens wouldn't she be left at their mercy? No, I mustn't let this happen or I wouldn't be able to forgive myself!

The moment Ezra came to this realization he decided to fight the man and get over with it as quickly as possible. Mira would definitely be in danger and he had to get to her very fast if he didn't want anything bad to happen to her.

Ethereal Step!

Without responding to the man he immediately moved towards him, clenching his fists as his eyes zeroed in on the man who had been sent to kill him.

"Seems incredibly fair," Ezra muttered to himself when he saw the notifications on the holographic screen in front of him. This didn't cause him to stop as he unleashed all the strength in his body into his fists, his eyes narrowing at the man.

"Aggh!" the man let out a loud roar which bore a great semblance to a lion, swinging his axe at Ezra. Despite him being huge he was fast as well, being able to match with Ezra's speed.

Phantom Drift!

He should be a tier two fighter, Ezra thought within himself as he used an ability that he hadn't used before. It belonged to the Crimson Echelon and granted him liberation from gravity. It allowed him to possess telekinesis and manipulate gravity fields which were very fatal against foes!

The moment he used Phantom Drift the axe which was flying towards him was suddenly slowed down. The man tried with all his strength to push his axe forward but he couldn't bulge it no matter what. Instead, he felt the axe become ten times heavier than before, causing it to fall to the ground.

"Aggh!" the man groaned as he tried lifting the axe from the ground but couldn't. No matter how much he tried he couldn't even bulge the axe and in the end, he had to let go of the axe and leap backwards.

Seeing that the man had let go of the axe, Ezra calmly picked it up effortlessly before looking at the man. He then said, "You seem to value this axe so much. At least you've killed twenty people with it."

"You're going to be the next person I'm going to kill!" the man yelled at Ezra, clenching his fists as he charged forward. Although he couldn't figure out how his axe had suddenly become heavy, he decided to still attack Ezra. He was following the Boss's orders and couldn't afford to fail no matter what, even if it meant dying.

"You seem to love death so much," Ezra said calmly. "You're even taking the initiative to attack when I mysteriously made your axe heavy. You don't wanna know how I did it and that's really something."

"Take this!" the man said as he threw a powerful punch at Ezra's face. Suddenly the entire hallway became dark as if all forms of light had been snuffed out. Even sound seemed to be snuffed out because Ezra could no longer hear anything.

So he has finally used his ability, Ezra thought within himself as he immediately activated the Aegis of Dissonance ability. He didn't even bother dodging the attack because he had an ability that could defend him. Why trouble himself when he could easily create a barrier that could shield him from the punch?

There was a loud bang afterward as the entire place shook violently. Cracking sounds spread throughout the entire hallway as the ground and walls were ripped open. The impact of the man's fist colliding with the barrier around Ezra was so devastating that shockwaves were sent sweeping through the entire hallway, reducing the ground to debris and causing some of the walls to collapse instantly.

Due to the collision with the barrier, the man's entire arm was badly mangled as he was sent flying several meters into the air, coughing out mouthfuls of blood. The force of his punch was redirected at him by the barrier, causing him to suffer very great damage which would have been capable of destroying the barrier and reducing Ezra to smithereens.

Ethereal Step!

Ezra didn't allow the man to land when he wielded the axe and moved towards him before leaping into the air. When the man saw him he clenched his remaining fist and tried adjusting his center of gravity so that he would be able to evade Ezra. But the next moment, Ezra vanished.

"One thing you got wrong," the man heard a familiar voice behind him. "I'm not weaker than my spouse. I'm actually thousands of times more powerful because...I'm her teacher."

This...the man was instantly horrified when he heard the statement. But there was nothing he could do as Ezra sent the axe cleaving through his neck. And the last thing he saw was his headless body and Ezra landing on the ground without any noise.
