Chapter 31: Another Cultivator

Ezra was still doing the Qi breathing technique when he saw the Boss appear some meters away from him. His broadsword was in his right hand while his left fist was deeply clenched. His expression looked extremely grim and murderous as if he couldn't wait to kill Ezra.

"You know the real reason I want to kill you?" the Boss asked as he took some steps towards Ezra. "You're very strong. Almost as strong as I am and that's what can't be allowed."

The Boss fell silent for some moments before saying, "You're using the Qi breathing technique? That's really nice because you're gonna make this fight very interesting."

"You shouldn't have touched her," Ezra said as he clenched his fists. "You shouldn't have touched Mira at all."

"What did you say?" the Boss chuckled. "Couldn't hear you over the intent to kill and all."

"I said you shouldn't have touched Mira!" Ezra yelled as he suddenly moved towards the Boss.

"Good," the Boss said with a smile as he also moved towards Ezra. "Because I'm going to make your death the most memorable one!"

With those words he swung his broadsword instantly at the incoming Ezra, creating a powerful gale of wind which swept towards Ezra. Ezra on the other hand didn't panic as he was already prepared for this. After getting a chance to battle the Boss some moment ago he had already figured out his combat style. Hence he wasn't flustered at all and already had everything mapped out.

Veil of Shadows!

Ezra immediately activated a skill which he rarely used. It was an ability that belonged to the Ashen Echelon, one of the tier one abilities he didn't love using because his opponents weren't as strong as he was. It could allow him vanish from sight and evade mundane senses. In other words, it gave him some sort of invisibility.

The moment Ezra used this ability, the Boss was no longer able to see him. This was because Ezra instantly vanished before him into thin air. It was as if he had never existed before, making the Boss to frown slightly.

Ethereal Step!

Ezra immediately activated his most used ability, flashing around the Boss to get behind him. He then immediately deactivated the Veil of Shadows ability so that using two abilities at the same time wouldn't take a toll on him.

"Now take this!" Ezra immediately yelled as he punched the Boss in his back. The latter was very fast and turned, raising his broadsword to block the punch. But it was a little too late because Ezra's punch got him squarely in the chest.

The impact was very powerful and sent him flying into the air. This didn't make Ezra to stop as he immediately leaped into the air in a flash before the Boss had the chance of recovering, kicking him in the torso with so much force that all the bones in the Boss's body reverberated from it.

There was a loud thud and cracking sounds as the Boss was sent crashing to the ground before rolling several meters away from Ezra. By the time he stopped his entire body was covered with several ghastly wounds, blood flowing out of them like water.

"You shouldn't have messed with me," Ezra said as he landed on the ground. "I have several abilities which you've never seen before. With them I am unbeatable."

Actually Ezra was saying all of this to the Boss out of anger. But in reality he didn't really feel this way. He didn't really feel he was unbeatable because within a short space of time he had already met two people who showed him he wasn't. One was Pharez whom he met in the Realm of Nirvana while the other was the one currently lying on the ground in front of him, the one they called the Boss.

"You have no idea how powerful as I am," Ezra said as he stopped before the Boss. "I'm like nothing you've ever seen before. I'm not someone you can defeat even if you have the power to do so."

Hearing the statements from Ezra didn't make the Boss devastated. Other people would have felt a great sense of despair but he was different. Instead of feeling despair a feeling of excitement rose up within him as a smile appeared on his face. This made Ezra to frown slightly as he wondered why the Boss was smiling.

At this moment he should be despairing because I'm going to kill him, Ezra thought within himself. Why then is he smiling this way? The moment these thoughts crossed Ezra's mind he decided to be very vigilant because he felt the Boss might have other aces up his sleeves. People never behaved this confident unless they believed they could turn the situation around.

"You really think you have all it takes to bring me down?" the Boss said with a chuckle as he stared at Ezra with mockery in his eyes.

Suddenly all the wounds on his body began healing, cracking sounds filling up Ezra's ears as the Boss rapidly recovered from his fatal injuries just now. This greatly shocked him because he had never seen anything like this. He had never seen anyone with a healing ability before and he didn't know how to react!

"You said you have several abilities?" the Boss said as he stood up, wiping the blood off his lips. "Let's see if those abilities can handle the ones I have!"

As the Boss made this statement Ezra couldn't help but notice that his eyes were glowing and there was this fiery aura building up around him. Lightning streaks suddenly appeared all over the Boss's body, flames of fire building up as well.

"Let's see how you handle another Cultivator!" the Boss yelled as the flames of fire suddenly spread out in all direction from his body.

Oh no, Ezra suddenly realized the problem. Another Cultivator had appeared and it was going to be trouble taking him down. Up to this point he hadn't realized why the Echelon system gave him the mission to defeat everyone and save Mira. But now he realized why. Another Cultivator had showed up in this realm.
