Chapter 32: Two Against One

When Ezra heard that the Boss was a Cultivator just like him, one with a system, he experienced several emotions all at once. He was confused, shocked, and terrified because the information he got about Cultivators from Pharez turned out to be very different from what he was seeing right now.

There was supposed to be one Cultivator in an entire realm and not two. Cultivators were not even supposed to meet except of course they were high-tier ones who could travel between realms. The only time Cultivators get to meet is when their systems give them missions in the Realm of Nirvana. So Ezra was very confused about the whole thing.

"I can see confusion written all over your face," the Boss said with a smile. "I was also as confused as you when I came to this realm."

"Wait..." Ezra soon came to the realization. "You're not from this realm?"

"This is not my realm," the Boss said as he stretched his right hand towards his broadsword that was lying on the ground some meters away from him. "And this can never be my realm."

If this is not his realm then how did he get here? Ezra thought within himself while maintaining vigilance. He couldn't just drop his guard because the man in front of him just told him he was a Cultivator and one from another realm.

"Just like you I'm controlled by missions from my system," the Boss continued. "And one of those missions brought me into your realm."

What? Ezra couldn't believe what he was hearing. He couldn't believe that missions were not limited to one realm and could spread to other realms. The only realm he had been transported to due to a mission was the Realm of Nirvana and that was the only realm he felt Cultivators were usually transported to in order to right each other. Now that he was hearing that the Boss was transported to this realm due to a mission, it got him all shocked and terrified.

The whole situation got him wondering what would happen the day he was finally given a mission which would end up getting him transported to another realm. He began wondering how he was going to handle such a situation without breaking down.

"Like I said earlier, at first I was confused when I came to your realm," the Boss said. "The cultures, the architectural design, the dressing...Everything is way more different than in our realm."

When he said this he chuckled, "A normal Cultivator would have broken down but I didn't. And that's because I'm not a normal Cultivator!"

The moment he said this the aura that had been concealed within him erupted like a tidal wave, attempting to drown everything around in it. The ground shook violently as cracks appeared on the surrounding buildings, attempting to shatter them.

"I am the Asura Cultivator wielding the Asura system!" the Boss yelled, his eyes becoming red in color.

Now is not the time to think about anything because my life depends on it, Ezra thought within himself as he clenched his fists. I need to finish this battle once and for all!

With that thought of defeating the Boss in mind, Ezra leaped into the air towards the Asura Cultivator while unleashing his own aura as well. Without even needing to be close to Ezra, the Boss suddenly swung his broadsword at him while in the air. This created shockwaves that ripped the ground in halves and destroyed everything in its path.

Aegis of Dissonance!

Ezra immediately activated this ability to erect a barrier around himself. This barrier managed to deflect some of the shockwaves before finally breaking down but Ezra was already prepared for it.

Ethereal Step!

He had already activated his most used ability, flashing towards the Boss at a speed that the human eye couldn't observe. And in a second he was already standing in front of the Boss, his right fist flying towards the Boss's face. But at the last moment, the Boss raised his broadsword, blocking the punch with its blade.

The collision was so terrifying that shockwaves were sent flying in every direction, destroying buildings in its wake. The impact sent Ezra flying back, the bones in his right hand broken from the collision. With a loud thud, he crashed to the ground but immediately got back on his feet.

"You see, you have to make it very easy for me," the Boss said while walking towards Ezra who was coughing out mouthfuls of blood. "My sole mission is to kill you and that's why I was transported here since last year. My mission was to kill the only Cultivator in this realm!"

And without waiting for Ezra to recover, the Boss stabbed his broadsword madly into the ground after making that last statement. This caused the ground to explode as a large amount of an unknown energy was infused into it.

Oh no...Ezra immediately had a premonition and acted based on it. He leaped high into the air but it was too late. The unknown energy had already surrounded him and since he was already badly injured both physically and spiritually from the collision with the Boss's broadsword, he couldn't use his abilities in a very short amount of time to escape.

The energy was about to swallow him when suddenly a white light flashed several times, tearing through the energy. And before Ezra could realize what was going on someone flew into him, pushing him away from the area where the unknown energy was.

With a thud both of them landed on the ground softly, watching as the energy warped into a black terrifying mist before vanishing. It was at this moment Ezra got the chance to look at who had saved him. And when he did he was very shocked, his eyes widening as he couldn't believe what he was seeing.

"Long time no see, Ezra," Mira said with a very warm smile as she wielded her longsword in her right hand.
