He had used the Resonant Bond on Mira so that she would be able to share his strength and abilities so that she would recover fast. And that was why he had been using the qi breathing technique to recover quickly so that the same would be applicable to Mira. Who would have thought that she would heal very fast and even get to reach his tier in a short amount of time?
"Standing there and staring at me wouldn't help things," Mira said as she pointed her sword at the Boss. "We need to take down this freak before things get out of hand."
Seeing this the Boss couldn't help but chuckle, "That's a nice speech but one thing's for sure...there's no way you're beating me. Not even the two of you are enough to take me down."
"You think?" Ezra raised his eyebrows as he took a deep breath, using the qi breathing technique to heal from the injuries the Boss had inflicted on him. But no matter how he tried he couldn't heal fast so he gave up on it and focused on defeating him right now. At this moment that was the most important thing and he wasn't going to risk letting go of the opportunity for his own health.
"You can try," the Boss. "Every martial artist in your world who tried going against me ended up very badly. In fact, my broadsword fed upon their souls."
When Ezra heard this he narrowed his eyes as he began reevaluating the Boss's strength. He began feeling that this Cultivator from another realm really had several aces hidden under his sleeves and couldn't wait to use them at the right moment.
If his broadsword is capable of feeding on souls then it should be very powerful, Ezra thought within himself. It isn't an ordinary weapon and shouldn't be taken for granted. This means I should be careful and avoid being slashed by it...
"Ezra, what's this man saying?" Mira suddenly asked while looking at the Boss vigilantly in case he gave any sudden attacks. "He just insinuated that he had killed every martial artist in our world. Is he from another world?"
"Yes," Ezra replied quickly. "He's a Cultivator on a mission in this world."
When Mira heard this her eyes narrowed as she said, "But I thought you said there's only one Cultivator in a realm. How come he's able to bypass that rule?"
"I don't know, Mira," Ezra said. "I just became a Cultivator and I don't know about the rules these systems made up. I just don't know."
They were still talking when the Boss interrupted, "That's really sweet of you, telling your spouse about all your secrets."
She's not my spouse...Ezra wanted to say but immediately swallowed his words after remembering that Mira had gotten angry at him because of this.
"Do you trust this woman so much that you even told her everything about Cultivators and systems?" the Boss said with a chuckle. "How are you sure she's not going to backstab you in the future? People are unpredictable and can't be trusted."
"That's not for you to worry about," Ezra said as he stretched out his right hand to his side. "You're here to kill me in order for you to complete your mission. So be serious about it."
"You're right," the Boss said. "I'm going to be serious about it!"
And with those words he leaped towards Ezra and Mira without warning, the ground beneath him tearing apart as he approached the both of them. The area around him became warped as a strange energy surrounded him, producing a very black mist which began spreading into the surroundings. Anything the black mist touched would decay rapidly till it became nothing.
"Use the Sword of Nirvana!" Ezra immediately yelled at Mira who had gone to stand before him at some point of time. The Sword of Nirvana was an ability he could only use once a week so he had to use it wisely. Now that he was currently using the Resonance Bond to share his strength and abilities with Mira, the Sword of Nirvana could also be used by her. This gave him a big chance of this powerful ability being used twice!
Mira wanted to ask what the Sword of Nirvana was when all the information about the ability came into her head. And just like that, she felt she would be able to use this ability even if she had never seen Ezra use it before. And with a loud yell, she swung her sword at the incoming Cultivator, using the Sword of Nirvana ability instantly!
The Boss was still approaching Ezra and Mira when he suddenly felt his environment darken significantly. The black mist around him instantly got absorbed as if it never existed and the strange energy surrounding him vanished into thin air.
This...the Boss soon realized that there was a big problem with the ability Mira had just used and immediately swung his broadsword, not giving the young woman any time to recover. She had just used a tier-five ability and couldn't handle the strain as she fell to the ground with a loud thud.
Seeing this, the Boss felt that he was going to become victorious no matter what. This was because the young woman who had used the strange ability on him was now dead. Even if she had been able to negate his abilities, the ability of his broadsword was still there! Hence, he was very confident that he would be able to kill her and Ezra no matter what.
But at that very moment, a white light flashed and something blocked his broadsword just as he was about to slash off Mira's neck. The impact caused his broadsword to shatter instantly, throwing him into a very great shock. He immediately looked up and saw Ezra wielding a katana, a terrifying feeling emanating from him. And it was at this moment he felt a great sense of despair he had never felt before!
"You have reached the end of the road," Ezra said calmly as he swung his katana as if he did not care about the world at all. It was as if everything was under his control and nothing was above him.
