Ezra and Gwaine watched the battle for some moments before the latter finally said, "Won't you be going to lend a hand? Can't you see that dragon which Morgana summoned?"

"I need to meet King Arthur first," Ezra said with a flat tone. "I'm not fighting anything till I meet him."

"Huh?" Gwaine narrowed his eyes in surprise. "I can no longer follow your train of thought. Didn't you say you wanted to come here so that you'd help in fighting off the zombies?"

"And didn't you doubt me, saying that the zombies were unkillable?" Ezra turned to look at Gwaine, causing him to shiver instantly.

"Don't look at me like that," Gwaine said with a dry chuckle. "You even had doubts about your abilities. I could see that in your eyes. You were ready to risk your life without knowing you had such an ability."

"Who told you I had doubts about myself?" Ezra asked coldly, not wanting to agree that he had been doubtful of his hunter title. It was only after he pulverized all the zombies and had his title e

  • Ezra Echelon Liberation System   Chapter 1: Four Sect

The Council was enormous, and every time Ezra entered its vast halls, he felt a wave of awe wash over him. The Council Hall, hewn from the ancient white cliffs, was like the heart of the continent, where all power, authority, and tradition came together. The ceilings soared high above, adorned with detailed murals that told the stories of the Four Sects. Sunlight streamed through narrow, stained-glass windows, creating colorful patterns on the marble floors. As Ezra strolled down the hallway, the sound of his footsteps mingled with those of the guards, his tutors, and the quiet maids trailing behind him. Ezra found himself at the center of this little group, his eyes wandering to take in every detail of the hall. Tall banners lined the walls, each one representing one of the Four. The striking emerald green emblem of the Echelon sect stood out the most—a tree with branches that seemed to reach endlessly. It was displayed at every entrance, a constant reminder of the values the sect

Ezra woke up to loud laughter and the sound of metal clinking. His head throbbed, a dull pain spreading behind his eyes like a hammer hitting his skull. He tried to move, but his body wouldn’t listen. Panic rose in his chest."What—"He blinked to clear his vision and looked around. His arms were tied behind him to a thick wooden post. The rough rope pressed painfully into his wrists with every small movement. The air was heavy, smelling of damp grass and sweat, and a cold wind chilled his exposed skin.It took a moment for Ezra to understand where he was: in a wide, open clearing surrounded by towering trees that stood like silent guards. The noon sun cast long shadows on the ground, revealing figures that Ezra recognized."No," he whispered.Tied to similar posts nearby were his family: his father, tall and proud even in this situation, his head lowered; his mother, her long hair messy, eyes shut as if she were still unconscious; and his two sisters, Lila and Mirel, looking small an

As the warriors approached, Ezra noticed his family stirring. His siblings looked confused, but his parents had expressions that suggested they had anticipated this moment. Their eyes were filled with bitterness as they turned to Lorrin, who stared back at them with a blank expression."You... it was you?" Ezra's mother whispered, a mix of defiance and disbelief in her voice."Be quiet, woman!" Lorrin commanded, and a heavy silence followed. The atmosphere was thick with tension, broken only by the wind rustling the dry grass. Ezra felt the ropes digging into his wrists, binding him to the post. His sisters whimpered softly beside him, and his mother offered them a reassuring smile. Across the field, the executioners advanced, their weapons shining in the fading sunlight.Ezra's heart raced; he knew it was the end.In front of him stood the Archival warriors, a wall of armored men with cold, emotionless faces. At the forefront was a massive figure, the largest of them all, dragging hi

  • Ezra Echelon Liberation System   Chapter 4: Know Pain

Ezra's last sight before darkness enveloped him was his father's head hitting the blood-stained ground.A scream tore through the quiet plains, Ezra's voice raw and endless, filled with a loss too heavy to bear. No one rushed to calm him.The soldiers lingering near the execution site exchanged uneasy glances, their expressions hardening. They were familiar with death and despair; this was just another victim in the ongoing cycle of power and betrayal.Yet, Ezra's cries were different. They weren't the desperate pleas of a man seeking mercy or the broken sobs of someone succumbing to grief. His voice held a primal quality, a pain so profound it erupted from him, raw and unstoppable. It resonated in the ears of those around, a haunting reminder of their actions.A few soldiers began to whisper among themselves, their discomfort showing in their restless movements. "Someone shut that kid up," one grumbled, masking his unease with irritation. Another scoffed, spitting on the ground. "Wha

  • Ezra Echelon Liberation System   Chapter 5: The Echelon System

Ezra blinked. A twisted, bitter smile formed on his lips, lacking any real humor. He felt mad, completely losing his grip on reality. It almost felt like a relief to slip into a false dream rather than face the harshness of the real world. With fingers he didn’t want to move—but did—he mentally clicked "YES."The screen flickered, and suddenly, streams of light filled the space around him. Ezra recoiled, instincts warning him of danger, but this light felt safe. It enveloped him, warm and gentle, like a cocoon. Strange symbols danced before his eyes, transforming into grim options."Choose your path: Warrior. Berserker. Liberator. Mage."Ezra gazed at the options, each glowing with its own allure. Warrior seemed straightforward, a choice his father might have made. Berserker, with its fiery glow, promised raw power and destruction, a way to unleash the anger he felt. Mage appeared distant and intellectual, requiring calm and thoughtfulness—traits he no longer possessed. Then, he heard

Cold and dark, the dungeon dug at Ezra's sanity like an oppressive weight. Days melted into weeks, and with it came a subtle shift within him. Whether it was due to this anomaly of a system appearing in his mind or his realization that his body no longer wracked in constant pain, Ezra knew he could no longer afford to ignore the unseen force that was now acting within him.And every time he had thought of it, the system sprang into being as some kind of ghostly vision, flickering blue before him and glowing faintly in the void. First, it had seemed madness: a trick of his mind as it began to unravel under the strain of captivity. But the more he thought about it, the more it felt like a lifeline—something to cling to in this abyss. He felt inclined to know more about it.This system didn't need words or gestures to operate. It only needed thoughts, and with a little concentration towards the interface, a bluish, translucent screen flickered alive in front of him, showing a complex ser

  • Ezra Echelon Liberation System   Chapter 7: Innocence Proves Nothing

Ezra hunched low, his fingers quaking while he scrubbed up and down against the cool marble floor of the chamber inside the palace. Above and around him came jeering tones. The young men of lower rank in the disciples sat in the lounge chairs in the room, as were other attendants of the palace. They threw bits of food and garbage on the floor, laughing as he scurried to pick it up. A stale bread crust fell to the ground, and instinctively Ezra reached for it."Look at him," one of the boys sneered. "The great son of the Echelon Sect, reduced to this."Another chimed in, his voice thick with sarcasm. "I bet his daddy would cry if he saw him now. Oh wait—he doesn't have a head to cry with!"The room exploded in a cacophony of laughter, the sound deeper than any blade. Ezra shoved the crust into his mouth, chewing mechanically, staring at the ground. The taste of ash and filth filled his mouth, but he swallowed without demur."You see how he eats? " Like a rat," the other said, kicking o

  • Chapter 48: Arise

"Defend the periphery!" Lancelot yelled as he slashed off a zombie's head, causing black mist to spray. The knights under him immediately nodded and placed their shields in front of them to block the zombies from penetrating. They stacked the shields over each other, forming a sturdy wall to block off the zombies."Ah!" Lancelot leaped into the air, dragging his sword behind him as he yelled in a very loud voice which sent sonic waves spreading across the battlefield. Every zombie which heard the sound had all their heads explode into smithereens. That didn't deter them from moving but it prevented them from seeing, buying the archers on the wall more time to fire their arrows at them. After yelling Lancelot landed on the ground, releasing shockwaves which the swept the zombies in front of him away, reducing them to smithereens. He then proceeded to move very quickly, slashing every zombie he came across with so much ferocity. There was no trace of fear in him after knowing that these

  • Chapter 47: Heading to the Castle

Ezra was shocked as he looked around him. All the trees and grasses had been pulverized. Nothing had been left undestroyed, making it seem as if a meteorite had just hit the entire forest. By now Gwaine had caught up to him and was also taking a look at the surrounding."You did this, you know," Gwaine said as he strapped his sword, relieved that there were no more zombies coming to attack them."Actually I remember everything," Ezra said, resuming his stern expression. The truth was, when he had entered the Primordial Hunter mode and was killing the zombies, everything seemed like a dream. He didn't even have control over his body and moved as if another entity was puppeteering him. It was very bizarre and terrifying, causing him to be horrified of himself. The reason he didn't tell Gwaine the truth was because he didn't want the knight to have second thoughts about him. A hunter who couldn't even control himself didn't deserve to be defending the castle and fighting off Morgana's ar

  • Chapter 46: Killing Spree

Ezra didn't know why but he had this feeling of glee within him. It was as if he had finally gotten the chance to do what he loved doing most, not doing it for a long period of time. He didn't know why but he had this feeling of joy as he watched the zombies approaching with so much speed. Maybe it was the feeling of his sword slashing through their flesh or their terrified screams as they were pulverized into nothing. But the feeling that came thereafter was very pleasant and made him want to kill more zombies. He wanted, at this very moment, to hunt all the zombies in the world and kill them. • Chapter 45: Primordial Hunter

After Ezra's eyes and sword became blazing red, a strange aura began to surge out of his body. It was blazing red like his eyes and sword, emanating a strong feeling of chaos and terror. It made Gwaine who was near him feel as if a god had descended into the world. It was absolutely terrifying.Just what kind of monster is this? Gwaine couldn't help but think within himself as he swallowed a mouthful of saliva. Has he always been hiding this tremendous power in him? He seems more like a god than a normal human being at this period of time...Gwaine was still thinking within himself when Ezra suddenly moved in a flash, leaving several mirages behind him as he advanced toward the zombies in front of him. He didn't know why but he felt the urge to smile immediately and curled his lips upwards as he spun his sword faster with his right hand."You all want a piece of me?" Ezra said with glee, his eyes brightening with a strange delight. "Then I'm going to leave you all in pieces!"And with

Gwaine was a very skilled fighter and immediately evaded the zombie's sword, rolling on the ground so that he could go behind the zombie. He then immediately kicked himself off the ground into the air before the zombie had a chance of turning around, slashing off the zombie's head.Ezra watched as the zombie's head tumbled in the air, more black most pouring out of the wound in its neck. But terrifyingly the zombie didn't collapse to the ground even after it had been beheaded. Instead, it turned around as if nothing had happened and attacked Gwaine."This is why we're still fighting this army of undead!" Gwaine yelled as he parried off the zombie's sword which would have slashed off his head. "They don't die no matter how we kill them. Instead, they would..."At that moment the zombie's head which had been slashed off began growing rapidly. In no time a new decaying head had been formed, its blazing eyes glaring at Gwaine who had slashed off its head. The only thing that was on its mi

"So what really happened down here?" Ezra asked again. "Everyone's dead and you're the only one alive...""Because you saved me," Gwaine said with a sad smile. "We were attacked by Morgana's army of undead. They killed everyone.""Army of undead?" Ezra asked, wanting to clarify something. He had gotten the information from the Echelon system that Morgana was a witch but he wasn't sure about what an army of undead meant."You haven't seen an army of undead before?" Gwaine narrowed his eyes. "Oh, that's right. You're not from this part of the world."Then he continued to say, "Morgana is the most powerful witch in this world. Her proficiency in dark magic is so terrifying that she has made all the kingdoms in this world horrified. She can summon an army of undead from the underworld.""The underworld?" Ezra couldn't help but ask."Yes, the underworld," Gwaine replied. "She can also travel to the underworld. This is what makes her very terrifying because she can appear any place anytime

Ezra was still standing in the middle of the road when he heard one of the knights cough. He immediately rushed to where he heard the cough from and saw a knight who had been stabbed in his chest. Blood kept dripping from his mouth and his chest was a mangled mess. Due to him dressed in a red uniform the blood on his chest wasn't that visible. Although he could see that the knight was in great pain he didn't make the mistake of going very close to him. He hadn't yet accessed the situation and wasn't aware of who was his enemy and who wasn't. Hence he decided to maintain vigilance till he was able to ascertain things."Please...help..." the knight struggled to speak as he tried to sit up, his right hand reaching towards his sword which was lying some meters away from him."Who are you?" Ezra asked while maintaining his vigilance. He didn't know what tier this man was so he couldn't afford to make the mistake of putting his guard down. The knight might be injured but if he was a tier t
