Greyson was ushered into a large meeting room. He was a little confused. Silvia didn't say anything about the details of the job. He was just told to follow her to this place.
There was also Daniel with them.
"Everyone is waiting," Daniel informed before pushing the door to the room to let the two siblings in.
Greyson's brain hadn't had time to digest Daniel's words when the door opened, revealing a large room with an equally large table. A group of people stood to greet him around the table.
Silvia directed Greyson to a chair at the end of the table. While she stood next to him. She didn't mean to linger. So they didn't sit down.
Daniel stood behind them, creating distance.
In confusion, Greyson stood there and nodded at everyone.
"What's going on?" He whispered to Silvia next to him.
"I'll introduce you to all of them," Silvia said as she looked around. She cleared her throat for a moment. Then she said, "From today, Mr. Greyson Hayes will replace me as the CEO of Hayes Global. Everyone's cooperation is requested."
Soon the originally quiet room was filled with the noise of people in shock or disbelief. They were the shareholders and some important company officials. They were gathered today with only a notice that there would be something important to be delivered. No one would have guessed that it had to do with a change in the company's leadership.
Greyson himself was suddenly dizzy. He held the edge of the table firmly, hoping not to fall unconscious.
He thought he would only get a manager's position. Maybe even a little higher. As a rookie, how could he become the CEO of the company in the blink of an eye?
"I must have heard wrong," Greyson said to himself. Then said in a half-whisper to Silvia beside him. "Silvia, what did you say?"
Silvia ignored Greyson.
She kept talking about things like the company's performance continuing to improve, the need for regeneration within the company, and so on.
Greyson still tried to interject between Silvia's words. But again he was ignored.
He really became CEO in place of Silvia?
Greyson felt like running away just like two years ago. There had to be a place to hide from this sister who kept talking about family and corporate responsibilities. He wasn't afraid to live anywhere. He was not afraid of poverty and humiliation. He just couldn't stand being cooped up in a big room called an office and spending minute after minute of his life staring at a computer screen.
Out of desperation and not wanting to make a mess in front of everyone, Greyson stopped trying to speak. But he was determined to protest this later to Silvia.
When Silvia finished speaking, she told Greyson to say a few words of introduction to everyone. The woman gestured with her dagger-sharp eyes at Greyson when he tried to argue.
In front of everyone, Greyson refrained from stammering as he spoke. He was still very shocked.
After a brief introduction, everyone left. Silvia and Greyson returned to the CEO's office.
"This is impossible. You didn't say beforehand that I would replace you." Greyson spoke frantically, protesting Silvia's decision.
He had been tricked by his sister.
Daniel, who had also followed them into the room, stood in one part of the office, trying not to get involved. He had heard that CEO Hayes had long wanted Greyson to work at the company to replace her.
"Don't overdo it. You know this has been your responsibility since birth. I'm just helping out temporarily." Silvia sat leisurely on the sofa while drinking a cup of coffee given to her by her secretary. She seemed unaffected by Greyson's mood.
Greyson flung himself on the sofa. His instincts were already telling him that something bad was about to happen. It turned out to be more than bad.
"Sir, it won't be as difficult as you might think. I'm sure you'll be able to handle everything." Daniel spoke up trying to reassure Greyson.
Greyson glanced at Daniel Evans in one particular part of the office with an annoyed look. In his entire life, this was the first time he wanted to kill someone. It exceeded his feelings of anger towards Oliver Brooks.

In another executive office.
"That stupid kid suddenly replaced Silvia. I think the company will soon be on its way to ruin." Cohen Hayes spoke in an irritated tone. He had just heard about the news of the CEO's replacement and rushed to the director's office.
Rowan Hayes, the father, sat in his chair with a grim face. As Greyson's uncle and one of the shareholders, he disagreed with their CEO's decision. Everyone knew about how bad Silvia's youngest brother's reputation was. Silvia had sent Greyson abroad for five years to study and he came home only to wander around out there doing odd jobs.
"Father, you're also one of the company's shareholders. But look at me. I've only been a manager here for two years." Cohen again said something to incite his father.
This is so unfair!
"Be quiet. Let me think in peace." Rowan Hayes felt like his head was about to explode with an old grudge. His father's appointment of Felix Hayes as the manager of the company had created a deep resentment. After Felix died, the management then fell to Silvia who was only an adopted daughter. It really made Rowan want to kill someone.
Cohen couldn't keep his mouth shut. He couldn't calm down. Greyson used to be the dumbest in the class. I don't know why he was accepted into a famous university abroad. There were some rumors that his final exam score was the highest in the school. But that sounded impossible. He rather believed that the Hayes family used their connections to get a seat at the university.
"I'll talk to my aunt and cousin. They won't agree with this appointment either." Cohen expressed his idea with a hopeful face.

It took him some time to find the irregularity Greyson was referring to."Sir, this is... This project is part of our top ten projects. " Daniel looked at Greyson with admiration. Jacob had previously ordered several auditors to check. But they found nothing wrong. He glanced at Malcolm briefly then said again, "Keep your voice down. He can hear.""Report to where? Didn't it say that the HR manager is his uncle?" This time it was the other man who spoke. He said it in a half-whispered voice."Then, report it to the HR director." Greyson came up with another solution. "Report hid uncle and nephew as well."Suddenly, the cafeteria became even quieter. Their voices were deliberately lowered, making it impossible to make out their conversation. Then came the sound of a lock being undone, followed by the creak of a turning doorknob. The door pushed open from the outside. Three people stepped into the dimly lit room where Naomi was held. The room itself was shrouded in mystery. The stone walls were old, with peeling paint. A small window was covered by heavy drapes, blocking out all light. The air smelled of dampness and dust, as if the place had been abandoned for years.Naomi’s sharp gaze landed on the man standing directly before her. He wore a dark coat, and his long blonde hair cas

We can help each other."This time, the door creaked open slightly, revealing the weary and anxious face of the middle-aged woman. Her eyes scrutinized Greyson from head to toe, as if trying to read his thoughts. Traces of dried tears were still visible on her wrinkled cheeks."Come in," Mrs. Reed finally said, her voice hoarse. The simple living room was filled with an air of unease. "Naomi went to her parents’ house as planned, but after that..." Ivy paused. "She never came back, Grey. No calls, no messages, and her phone has been off.""What have you found out so far?" he asked in a calm voice."My people have been investigating," Ivy replied. "Naomi’s parents are clean. Matt was incredibly famous. Half the women in the country adored him. He stared at the screen in disbelief. But these women—either too busy or simply uninterested in entertainment news—claimed not to know him."Sorry, his name has never appeared in any financial reports I read," Silvia replied dryly."I don't like reading gossip magazines," Ivy added, crossing her arms defensively. "Besides, I have more important things to do than watch people act.""Same here. I have a lot of patients to take care of," Samantha chimed in."So, how do you know this Matt guy?" Silvia’s face appeared on the screen first. Her usually neat hair was slightly messy, a clear sign that she was busy with work.“What is it, Naomi? I’m in the middle of something,” she said with a hint of annoyance before her eyes landed on Greyson behind Naomi. “Oh, Grey?”Greyson offered a small smile toward the screen. “Hello, Silvia.” Then, he tried to move out of the camera’s view, but Jacob deliberately pushed him back into the frame.“Silvia, do you remember our childhood promise with Grey?” Naomi asked without preamble.Silvia’s eyes suddenly sparkled, her professional demeanor crumbling in an instant. “Which one? Oh, you mean that promise?” She chuckled.“Exactly,” Naomi nodded in satisfaction. “Grey here thinks we’ve all forgotten about it.”“Forgotten?” Silvia raised an eyebrow. “How could I possibly forget? I even kept the agreement he signed with a red crayon.”“You kept it?!” Greyson couldn’t hide his shock.“Of course, Grey. It’s a legal document.” Silvia grinned mischi

"I thought they were dead?"Naomi nodded. "They were just an ordinary couple living in another city. I’ve met them a few times.""How... how are they?" Greyson asked carefully, realizing how sensitive this topic was for Naomi."They’re good," Naomi replied with a small smile. "They’re kind people. But...""But?""After meeting them a few times, they introduced me to a strange man," Naomi continued with a hint of annoyance in her tone. "And they suggested that I marry him."Jacob nearly choked on his drink. "Just like that? After only meeting a few times?""Yep," Naomi laughed dryly. Naomi patiently gave instructions, demonstrated, and Greyson tried to follow. The results were disastrous.“Oh my God, Grey! You can’t cut onions like that!” Naomi nearly screamed when she saw Greyson brutally massacring an onion. “You’re chopping it like you’re torturing someone!”“It’s just an onion,” Greyson muttered, not understanding why something so small could make his sister so frustrated.“It’s an art,” Naomi corrected, taking the knife from him. “Look, like this. He bent down to pick it up.Whoosh! The bullet whizzed past exactly where his head had been a second ago, striking the wall behind him and sending a cloud of dust and shattered plaster into the air.“Holy shit!” Jacob shouted, his face turning pale. With a swift movement, he lunged at Matt and snatched the gun from his hand. “What the hell are you doing, you idiot?!”Matt froze, his mouth slightly open. His face didn’t show the panic one would expect from someone who had nearly killed his friend. Instead, his expression was unreadable—somewhere between shock and... disappointment?“I... I didn’t mean to,” Matt finally muttered, his voice low. “I didn’t realize the trigger was that sensitive.”Greyson straightened up, his gaze shifting from the bullet hole in the wall to Matt, his expression unnaturally calm. As if his near-d
