Sharing Secrets

Gabriel was all alone in the basement and though he was really tired at first, yet the excitement to see to Optimus creation, made him stay awake, working tirelessly and deploying all necessary steps as he has been taught by his uncle, Wyman, to see that Optimus exist.

As he kept assembling all devices, he kept upgrading and re-modifying his previous updates in his system program which he had written for the smooth running of Optimus intellectuality. When he successfully assembled the internal devices and achieved end-to-end connections, he began to encrypt the five thousand motion tactics he installed, including combat and transformation tactics among others to ensure that nothing was lacking and that it could not be recreated elsewhere. Then he took the flash drive and duplicated, installing all content into three different chips and binding them within three portions of the robots brain, in places where it would be impossible to locate except he should show it to whoever he wanted... He ensured he protected the brain with the hardest alloys and after he was done, he had no doubts that Optimus was going to function properly this time.

He feel asleep when he started waiting for the encrypted files to be duplicated into another flashdrive not because he would not have been able to keep late night, but because he knew he will need a nap to be able to regain energy with which to forge the titanium alloys.

[Phone vibrating]

Gabriel yawned upon opening his eyes and stretched his right hand to pick up his phone which kept vibrating on the table beside him... When he glanced at his phone, it was not his alarm as supposed, but a call coming in. It's been three days since he last heard from her, he quickly cleared his throat and,

"Hey, Madison..."

"What the f*ck, Gabriel! You forgot me or what?" She stormed in a way that made him know she is definitely mad at him and he quickly admitted he was at fault.

"No, not at all, Madison. Okay, I'm sorry. Look, I have been meaning to call you. There is something going on with me right now, I really need your help. I wish you were here right now."

"What the f*ck, Gab! I am outside your house..."

"What! Are you kidding me right now?" He exclaimed, asking, fully surprised as he sat upright immediately.

"... I've been out here for close to thirty minutes, you aren't answering your phone. I was almost thinking everybody is dead. At least your dad could have heard me knocking earlier." She whined and kept exhaling deeply, he knew she was freezing out in the cold.

"Hold on, I can see you. I'm coming out..." Gabriel muttered as he walked towards the gate of the compound. It was really cold outside that night, he hastened up to open the gate for her...

"Hurry up and close the gate. Come on, let's go inside, quickly!" Madison Parker proclaimed with tensed up gestures and was quick to lead the way on their way back into the house.

"Is everything alright, Madison? What's going on? ... come this way, I am doing something in the basement." Gabriel asked inquisitively and pointed towards the direction of the basement. She followed while replying to his questions without asking to know yet, what he was doing in the basement because she felt that was even a safe place to hide.

"Okay, in case you have not heard, there were rumors of aliens invading earth and people never believed any of it until yesterday evening when we saw dark looking creatures, fuming like beasts and attacking people in the streets. They have unexplainable strength they could lift a car from the ground and toss it to where ever they please. They are killing whoever they come across and also capturing some to a place no one knows anything about. The safest place right now is indoors. The streets were empty, but it took more than courage to come check on you because I love you!" She sputtered with so much emotions to her speech he could clearly tell how caring she was for him.

"I love you too, Madison. I love you so much, and I am sorry I have not been able to call you on phone ever since." He apologized again, touching her cheek with the palm of his right hand, gently.

"That's okay." She said with a brief forgiving smile on her face.

"Thanks, um... I returned home today and decided to work on this robot." He asserted passionately as he drew her attention to Optimus. She knew he has been working on that robot for a year now and yet it seems to never come to life, so she ignored the robot thing and was more interested in telling him more about what has devastated people.

"You mean you returned home yesterday evening or today? Gabriel, do you know what time it is?" She first asked to be sure they were on the same page. Gabriel turned to look at her all over again and for a second, he recalled he was asleep: meaning, all she has been saying about aliens invading earth and attacking the street was actually the evening he returned home from LuxPine, he immediately double taps his phone to know what time it is.

"O shit! It's past three o'clock. Wait, you mean you left home by this time to come check up on me? F*ck! What if something bad had happened to you? I am so sorry, I never knew it was this late, Madison!" He said fondly of passion, jitters and quickly embraced her.

"Don't tell me you were sleeping when the world was ending!" Madison muttered softly as he embraced her, and when he let go, he said to boost her confidence...

"I took a nap, dear. Hey, I am glad nothing happened to you on your way here. I was actually informed about this thing, a day before yesterday, and I was going to come over to your place and tell you everything that has happened to me. I have not even said anything to my dad about it..." Gabriel started explaining everything about his encounter with an angel to her while he went back to working on the silver and gold titanium alloys he was to forge even as he had purposed in his heart to let her know because it was her account he had thought of sending some of the money he received, to.

She shouted when he mentioned the amount of money in his account to her without trying to keep some figures out because he trusted her to the core. They've both been childhood friends and had been through a lot to believe they could share secrets with each other and trust to have it kept until they decide to share with any third-party.

However, the moment she shouted on hearing the amount he mentioned, they both heard gunshots coming from the streets and it was clearly a heavy fire, definitely against two opponents.

"...what is that!" Madison fritted.
