Chapter 0003

Lisa sneered, her heart pounding in her chest as she thought, "Darwin must be out of his mind. How could he ask for a divorce?" Her mind raced, searching for a way to salvage the situation.

"You want a divorce? Why? After everything I've done for you? You ungrateful--" Lisa's voice trembled with a mix of disbelief and anger.

Interrupting her, Darwin's voice was strained with hurt and accusation as he said, "I saw the live streaming, Lisa. You and Luke announced to the world that you were a couple."

A surge of panic shot through Lisa as she realized Darwin had seen the video. "Oh no, this can't be happening," she thought, her eyes widening in fear. She knew she had to think quickly to salvage the situation. "Think, Lisa, think," she urged herself, forcing her features into a mask of calm.

"Oh please, that video? It was just a fake drama planned by my company as a publicity stunt. Don't be so gullible," Lisa replied, her voice striving for nonchalance, though her insides churned with anxiety

Frustration welled up inside Darwin. He knew Lisa was lying through her teeth, trying to twist the truth yet again. "A publicity stunt? Don't insult my intelligence, Lisa. I know what I saw with my own two eyes."

"You'll believe anything won't you?" Lisa snapped, her anger rising as she realized Darwin wasn't going to buy her transparent lies this time.

Before Darwin could respond, a newcomer appeared in the doorway. Both Lisa and Darwin turned in surprise to see a tall, elegant man leaning casually against the frame. He had neatly styled brown hair and was dressed sharply in an expensive suit that hugged his athletic physique perfectly.

The man smiled warmly, his green eyes twinkling with amusement as he took in the tense scene before him. "Am I interrupting something?" he asked in a smooth, confident voice.

His smile never wavered as he leaned nonchalantly against the doorframe, his eyes flickering with a playful glint that only served to inflame Darwin's growing anger.

"Interrupting?" Darwin's voice was thick with fury, each word punctuated by his barely restrained outrage. "What are you even doing here, Luke? And how dare you just walk into my home uninvited?"

Luke merely chuckled, remaining casually leaned against the frame with an air of arrogance. "Now, now, is that any way to greet an old friend?" he replied smoothly.

"We are not friends," Darwin spat. "You have no right barging into my home uninvited. Answer the question - why are you here?"

Luke's smile broadened, almost as if he relished the confrontation. "The door was ajar," he said with a shrug, his voice smooth as silk. "I would've knocked, but it seemed like the door wanted to welcome me in."

Darwin's hands clenched into fists at his sides. The audacity of this man to stand there, looking so at ease in a home that should have been a sanctuary, a place away from the chaos that Luke represented.

Lisa, still by the entrance where her keys had fallen, chimed in, her voice tinged with embarrassment. "I—I must have forgotten to close it behind me. I was startled when I saw you sitting in the dark."

Her words came out rushed flustered, a stark contrast to her earlier display of confidence. Darwin noticed the subtle shift in her demeanor. The strong, unapologetic woman who had just demanded why he wanted a divorce now seemed smaller, caught off guard by her own oversight.

Luke pushed himself off the doorframe and took a few steps into the apartment, his movements confident and sure. "I heard some raised voices," he explained casually, as if discussing the weather rather than the unraveling of a marriage. "I thought I should check if everything was okay."

Darwin glared at Luke. "Well, as you can see, we're having a private conversation. So, if you don't mind..."

Before Darwin could finish, Luke raised his hand, revealing a small, lacy garment draped over his fingers. "Actually, I really came because Lisa here left something in my car," Luke said, the arrogance in his voice unmistakable.

Darwin's eyes locked onto the item in Luke's hand, and his heart sank. It was a woman's undies, and from the look of it, one that belonged to Lisa.
