Tedmond nodded. “I’ll be there in seconds.”

“Alright,” Neil replied, leaving as casually as he’d entered.

Turning his attention back to Thomas, Tedmond gave him a look that suggested he wanted to hear more.

“Since Neil asked to meet you first, we’ll continue discussing later. You go on ahead,” Thomas said.

“Okay,” Tedmond replied.

As Tedmond headed to meet Neil, Thomas noticed a band-aid on his head. His brows furrowed in concern, and he hurried after Tedmond.

“Did you get into a fight?” Thomas asked.

Turning, Tedmond ran a hand through his hair, finding the band-aid. A frown crossed his face—he must have gotten it when Persis smacked him in the head.

“I fell. It’s nothing,” Tedmond answered, hurrying away before Thomas could ask more questions.

Thomas watched him go and, as soon as Tedmond was out of sight, pulled out his phone. Once the call connected, he spoke. “Investigate what happened to the young master today and report to me.”

“Yes, sir.”

Neil hesitated, but he changed his mind when Tedmond glared at him. “I told him that I don’t mess with someone ugly.”Tedmond’s eyebrows shot up in surprise. “Ugly? Am I ugly?”Neil shook his head rapidly and wanted to make sure Tedmond didn’t misunderstand. “I didn’t mean what I said. I was just making an excuse not to bully you and flatter him simultaneously. I then told him he was the most handsome person I had met and that he shouldn’t ruin his handsome face dealing with a loser like you.”Neil peered at Tedmond, expecting a reaction and a sneering smile of satisfaction crossed Tedmond’s face. The smile was so wide it almost looked evil.“That’s nice!” Tedmond announced. “I think Max has already let his guard down. All you have to do is keep talking to him and show that you’re wealthier than the Griffin family.”Neil nodded in agreement. “Alright. To be honest, Max didn’t stop there. He said he knew I was lying because he thought you were more handsome than he was since you took a

The Next MorningTedmond leaned back against the kitchen counter, gulping water from a bottle, sweat dripping from his head to the floor. He wore a white shirt, drenched in sweat to the point of transparency, revealing his rock-hard abs. He had just finished his morning exercise, and it was almost time for school.Bianca peeked at him from behind the counter, tilting her head to the side. “You still haven’t told me what you and the guards were grinning at yesterday.”Tedmond glanced her way, his brows furrowing. He had stayed in the gym in the mansion for a long time to avoid Bianca, and now here she was, asking the question he had managed to avoid answering the previous night.“It isn’t something that you should concern yourself with,” he replied, filling the bottle with more water and walking away. She followed him to the stairs. “Tell me.”Thomas grabbed her just as she was about to take the first step and lifted her in his arms. “It’s time to head to Kindergarten,” he informed her

The punch hit Lisa hard, snapping her face to the side and breaking her nose. Although the blow only impacted her face, not her whole body, Lisa decided to seize the moment since Tedmond was watching. She threw herself backward across the floor as if the punch had sent her flying. Lifting her head to look at Tedmond, she wore an innocent expression.“Tedmond, help me. She broke my nose,” Lisa complained, placing her hand on her nose and wiping off the blood.Taken aback, Tedmond glanced at her. All he could see was her shamelessness. Earlier, he had walked into the classroom, checking his phone for a message from Persis. He thought she was busy, but it turned out she was too busy fighting Lisa to call him.He sighed, trying to appear unfazed, but a sly smile crossed his face. For some reason, he felt satisfied seeing Lisa on the floor after taking a punch from Persis. He turned his gaze to Persis, and the smile faded. On closer inspection, he noticed how red her right cheek was—indica

Class was dismissed, and Tedmond rose from his seat, stretching his joints. The almost cracking sound of his stretching filled the air. The rest of the students began to leave the classroom, and Tedmond did the same.It had been a week since the incident between Persis and Lisa. So far, he hadn't heard from Lisa or seen her. She must have backed away a bit because he had ignored her, but that didn’t mean she wasn’t scheming something. He walked out of the class as his phone buzzed. Digging his hand into his pocket, he pulled it out and glanced at it. The message was from both Kyle and Persis. He hadn’t seen Kyle in a week, so he opened Kyle’s message first.“We’re all waiting for you,” it read. “We need to head to basketball training. Kanis is waiting. It’s been a week without practice, dude.”He sighed. It had indeed been a week without practice, though the week had passed so smoothly it felt unnatural.Texting Kyle back, he wrote, “Yeah, sure. I’ll be there in a few minutes.”As he

Kyle shrugged. “What’s the big deal about this?” A sly smile appeared on his face. “I was just saying hi to you.”“Is that how you say 'hi'?” Oliver asked, a look of disdain on his face. He still hadn't gotten used to the fact that they were friends with Kyle.“It doesn’t matter,” Kyle replied, a grin spreading on his face as he leaned closer to Tedmond to whisper in his ear. “I guess she is indeed your baby mama, seeing that you aren’t injured. Persiea must have scolded you, though.”Tedmond shook his head. “No. She’s just the aunt of my child,” he whispered back. “Since she’s still young, I usually use her sister’s name.”Kyle’s eyes widened. “You mean Persis?!” he yelled, loud enough for the others to hear.Hearing his yell, the rest of them stared at both of them with curious looks as they tried to figure out what Tedmond and Kyle were talking about.“I’m sorry,” Kyle mumbled, lowering his voice. “I guess they don’t know you have a child with a member of the Damon family. We’ll ta

Dressed in a hoodie, facemask, and sunglasses to conceal his face, the driver looked suspiciously like he was trying not to be recognized. For a moment, Tedmond thought the mysterious, fully covered person might have kidnapped him.Taking a closer look, Tedmond’s brows furrowed as he seemed to recognize the figure. “Kanis?” he asked. “Why are you dressed like that?!”Kanis glanced back at him. “I don’t want to be recognized,” he replied. “You’re lucky your identity is well hidden, or you’d be drawing too much attention.”“Perhaps you’re right,” Tedmond replied. They walked toward a supercar store a few minutes later to get the car they wanted. Three hefty guards stood outside the store, wearing hard, unwelcoming expressions. As Tedmond and Kanis approached, the guards gave them a once-over. They examined Tedmond’s appearance and then shifted their gaze to Kanis.Seeing Kanis’s appearance, the guards frowned. This company sold supercars, not rundown second-hand vehicles. They were sur

Everyone turned to Tedmond at the same time, eyes wide in shock. The guards looked as if they had just been dunked into a bucket of ice, standing frozen in place.Kanis's lips curled into a grin. He had been wondering why Tedmond tolerated all those insults without a word, but now he couldn’t wait to see Tedmond talk back. The saleswoman stood there, stunned. “Did you just speak to me?”Tedmond replied, “I can see this is hard for you to process, but I’m here to buy a car, not to film some prank video.”Her eyes narrowed as she glared at him. “Dressed like that? How dare you!” she spat. “You’re just a broke nobody trying to act cool, pretending you can afford an expensive car!”“That’s right! How dare you talk to her like that?”"Have you no shame? You should have the money before coming here!""Did you think we'd believe your lies? You son of a bitch."“Even if you worked your whole life, you wouldn’t be able to buy a car here,” she added, sneering. “Try a secondhand dealer or a repa

Looking around, Kanis reached for his face mask but paused halfway. Kiera was still in front of them, leading them to where they would find the car.A few staff members walked past, flashing Tedmond and Kanis a smile.“Hello.”“Welcome to Lilies Automobile.”“We are glad to have you here.”One even went as far as to ask, “Would you like a cup of tea?”Tedmond and Kanis did their best to respond to everyone’s greeting but shook their heads in polite refusal to the woman who had offered them tea. She nodded and left.“It’s her job to serve tea to our customers,” Kiera informed them. “I hope you’re comfortable.”“We are,” Tedmond replied. The Jadii staff were not as friendly as those he met at Lilies. Although he hadn’t met all the staff at Jadii, the hostile treatment from one employee and the guards gave him an impression of the company culture.Kanis reached for his hoodie, pulled it off, then removed his face mask, shaking his head to set his hair without touching it. No one knew what to say or how to start. They had been sure he wasn’t the real person, but now that the truth was out, they were both shocked and terrified of what would happen to them.Ms. Kurt's breath hitched, and she took an unconscious step back, her once-confident expression crumbling. The realization that she had insulted the head of the Washington family—twice—sent chills down her spine."I-I…" Hans stammered, his fingers trembling as he gripped the card. His mind raced for an excuse, a way to backtrack, but the proof was undeniable. He had been the one who claimed Tedmond wasn’t the real person. If only he had kept his mouth shut when everyone believed Tedmond, he wouldn’t have so much to deal with now.Persis folded her arms, tilting her head slightly as she regarded them with an unimpressed gaze. "Well?" she drawled. "Is that enough proof for you all, or do you need him to bring his birth certificate too?"At the mention of the birth certificate, both of them hurriedly shoo

Persis peered at Lenny, her brows furrowing. She had just revealed his real identity, yet everyone refused to believe her, convincing themselves he wasn’t who she claimed.Tilting her head to the side, she nodded. “He is Julius Washington, and we are engaged to be married.”Lenny’s face turned pale, and he gripped Persis’s shoulder. He was so terrified that he had insulted a Washington that he didn’t even register the second part of her sentence about being engaged to Tedmond.“Are you sure he’s really the one?” Lenny asked. At that moment, Hans spoke up. In his mind, he couldn’t allow more people to be deceived by Persis and Tedmond.“He isn’t Julius Washington. No one knows what Julius looks like, so why would he have a mask on in the first place? He’s someone tons of people look up to. Since you first saw him as a driver, then that must be what he is.”“That’s right,” a woman murmured. “You already saw him as a driver, so he isn’t Mr. Washington.”“He’s just an imposter.”“I can’t

The words brought silence to the room, and everyone began nodding. Tedmond glared at the man who had just spoken. It was clear they wanted him to reveal his face—something he had no intention of doing.“He’s right,” one of the guests said. “We haven’t seen Mr. Washington's face, and this one is wearing a mask. How can we be sure it’s him?”“He must have come here to fool us.”“If Hans is telling the truth, then he must have also fooled Miss Damon and made her think he’s Mr. Washington,” a woman stated, her voice louder than the rest. She held a wine glass in her hand and wore a dark green dress. “He must have come to the party without an invitation, too.”“If he turns out to be an imposter, what should we do?” a man questioned.Hans grinned. Just as he had expected, the others were beginning to doubt the man in front of them. Although Tedmond had acted and spoken like a Washington, Hans knew how to spot a faker.Ms. Kurt raised her head to look at Tedmond, a frown crossing her face. S

Tedmond's eyes snapped to the man the moment the words left his lips. Fiancé? There had been marriage offers for her? Was that why she had suddenly asked him to marry her?Just by looking at the people speaking to them, he could already tell what kind of person the so-called little brother was.The first woman—Ms. Kurt. That was when Persis finally remembered who she was.She was one of the reasons Persis avoided events like this. Ms. Kurt had once tried to set her younger brother up with Persis—something she despised. If she had known she would run into Ms. Kurt at the party, she would have asked Mr. Cain to revoke her invitation altogether.“It isn’t nice to bring a lowlife to a party, dress him up, and then reject Ms. Kurt’s offer like this,” the man added. “It would be better if your partner left. We’d make sure no one spreads rumors about you bringing a nobody as your date.”They were certain she wasn’t involved with anyone. And since they didn’t recognize the man with her, they

His heart pounded in his chest, a mix of anger, humiliation, and disbelief washing over him.She didn’t remember him.Not only that—she had brushed him aside like he was nothing.Lenny ran a hand through his hair, frustration bubbling inside him. How could she forget? They had spent hours together as kids. He had always been there, always admired her. He thought she would at least hold some memory of him, even if it was faint. But the way she had looked at him—like he was just some random guy—made his stomach churn. And that driver.Lenny’s jaw tightened as he recalled the way Persis had clung to Tedmond, how she had locked hands with him so easily as if he meant something to her. He had assumed Tedmond was just a hired worker, someone beneath their world. But Persis had stood beside him, defended him, and left wi

Back outside, Tedmond continued to ignore the brown-haired man. No matter how loud or insistent he was, Tedmond glanced at his wristwatch, checking the time.“Hey! You’re just an ordinary driver.”Just then, the sound of clicking heels drew their attention. Both men turned toward the source of the sound.Persis was stepping out of the building. The brown-haired man’s face lit up, and he rushed toward her. “You’re here!”However, she brushed right past him and stopped in front of Tedmond.Holding his hand, she peered up at him with a bright smile. The brown-haired man froze, his face turning pale. As soon as the words left the man’s lips, Tedmond gave him a blank expression. He had never seen the man before and had no idea who he was. However, one question caught his attention. The man had just asked what he was doing in a house that was supposed to belong to someone else. Holding roses and mentioning Persis' name was enough for Tedmond to understand what the man wanted and what was going on.“Even if you’re a driver picking us up, why are you so damn dressed up like that?” the man demanded, pointing the bouquet of flowers at Tedmond. “Why are you overdressed? Are you trying to seduce your boss?”Hearing the man’s question, Tedmond arched a brow and glared at him. They didn’t know each other, yet the man had the audacity to make assumptions.“If you’re done delivering the flowers, you can leave,” Tedmond replied. “Or hand them over—I’ll give them to her when she gets here. It wouldn’t be right to keep you waiting when you have other jobs to do.”As soon as Tedmond spoke, the ma
