Chapter Forty-three
The night was accompanied by a chilly wind that blew Edward's neck-length hair.

Edward stood on the manor's rooftop, gazing upon the wide view of the forest and lights from Wesville in the distance. From the rooftop, it was a beauty to behold. He held a lit cigarette in his left hand.

Crickets or some other animals were probably making some noises in the forest but because of the distance between the manor and the forest, not a sound could be heard unless you included the whipping of the wind.

Below, in the compound, the Gray Guardians who had the night shift stood in their positions, with shades on their face, armed and alert as always.

Anyone who saw Edward would know immediately he was deep in thought as he smoked. He wasn't a usual smoker but smoking always helped him in critical thinking.

"Hey, Eddie." Richard's voice said and Edward turned to see Richard standing by the doorway.

"Is it okay to join you?" Richard raised his brows at him.
