Chapter Twenty-two
"Charlene," Dalton called as he drew closer to the parking lot where Charlene stood.

Charlene crossed her arms and glared at him. "What took you so long?"

Dalton scratched his head, looking guilty. "I was delayed at work, so by the time I got ready, it was late. My motorcycle tyres went flat and I had a hard time finding a taxi so...I'm sorry."

"You could have called me or something."

"My phone died. Sorry. I'm the worst date ever, right?"

"No no. Of course not. Just be careful next time."

"Advice taken, madam." Dalton bowed curtly. Charlene laughed.

"Wow, you look so beautiful." complimented Dalton.

They both decided to wear semi-formal clothes to the ball.

Charlene wore a purple sparkly jacket on a white sleeveless shirt and a black pleated skirt with pink sneakers.

"Thanks. You look cuter tonight."

Dalton's face flushed.

He wore a black leather jacket on a blue shirt, with blue jeans and blue sneakers. His hair seemed to have become redder and fluffier.
