Chapter Twenty-One
Even from the parking lot, you could immediately hear the music coming from the hall and could see students entering the school in black or purple formal ball dressings – tuxedos for males, ball gowns and tiaras for females – or semi-formal clothes.

Several days had passed until the night of the Annual Ball.

The students took the path to Dolly Hall where there was a queue at the entrance. To make the ball fair, only students who donated at least sixty dollars were allowed to enter. To prevent unwanted entry, a red velvet rope was attached to both sides of the doorway, creating an obstruction.

Once you've checked, the velvet rope would be removed for the student or couple to enter.

The hall was decorated beautifully by the committee. Glass tables and seats were arranged orderly around the dance floor. An amphitheater where a DJ blasted music in the air was placed at the front wall, facing everyone.
