Chapter One
In a little cafe in Star City, Brian and his two friends and co-workers, Melanie and Charlene, watched as the last customer left the cafe. "Finally." Brian yawned, to express his tiredness. "Let's pack up and go home. I haven't written my assignment," said Charlene. "Home will have to wait for some time," Melanie said and nudged her head at the door. The door opened, causing Brian to turn. He frowned when he saw the group of girls that had just entered. Charlene groaned. "Can't Patricia and her cronies find somewhere else to eat? It's nine o'clock for crying out loud." "The things we do to earn a living. Be a good girl and do the honors of collecting their orders, Charlene." Charlene rolled her eyes and approached the table where Patricia and her three friends sat. The door opened again and two people walked in. Brian sighed. Do people sleep at all? As they got closer, Brian knitted his brows. One of the people who just walked in was Raymond Kevorkian, the richest student in t

Chapter Two
Brian blinked. "Pardon?" "I said get on your knees, kiss my shoes, and apologize," Raymond repeated impatiently. Brian stared at Raymond with deep hatred, wishing he could throw him out through the window. It's one thing to apologize to Raymond, now he was expected to kneel and kiss his shoes? "If you don't, you can leave," His boss added. Brian pondered on this. If he didn't do it, he would lose his job. But the thought of kneeling before Raymond alone irked him a lot. But his job was at stake. Brian's knees buckled slowly. Raymond smiled, thinking his plan worked well. Meanwhile, unknown to anyone except her, Patricia was getting the whole moment on video. She bit her lips in anticipation. If she caught this embarrassing moment on camera and posted it on her I*******m account, she could get a lot of likes and new followers. However, to the disappointment of everyone except Melanie and Charlene, Brian straightened before his knees could touch the ground. "No. No way. I can'

Chapter Three
His saviors were a group of three men with huge biceps and muscles, dressed in ripped jackets, T-shirts, and jeans. Their whole arms were covered with tattoos. Bandanas of different colors were tied on their head, covering their hairs. The man in the middle had dark shades on and he had piercings on his nose. Brian guessed they were some of the gangsters who hung out in the alley. He chuckled nervously. "Hello. Thanks for the help. I'll be leaving now." He wanted to walk out from there as soon as possible but their hard glares prevented him from moving a muscle. They just laughed with a deep hoarse voice after Brian spoke. The one with the piercings, who seemed to be the leader, clicked his tongue. "Tsk. You poor naive thing. You are going nowhere." Brian squealed and staggered back. "I'm very sorry for being here. Please don't hurt me." The dark-shade guy laughed again. When his laughter died down, his expression became serious and he ordered. "Get him." Panic immediately too

Chapter Four
Brian stared at Melanie from head to toe in shock. "OK, I don't get it. You own those men?" Brian asked. Melanie didn't strike him as someone with that power. "No time for questions. We have to get out of here." Melanie answered. She hooked her arm into Brian's and lifted him. Brian winced as his body hurt. But the pain didn't suppress his surprise. "How did you know I was here?" he asked. "I said no time for questions." Melanie snapped. When they neared the exit of the alley, Brian saw a black Mercedes Benz waiting. And, at last, he saw the men standing by the car. They were dressed in casual clothes and had nose masks on their faces. Brian's jaw dropped. He became scared that it took all of his willpower to walk properly. These men were built up with so many muscles that Brian could see their chest and broad shoulder outline on their shirts. Their biceps popped out in their long sleeve. "Who are those?" Brian asked. He felt like a child in the presence of the men. "Chill. T

Chapter Five
Brian's eyes widened at his mother's statement. His father? Wasn't he supposed to be dead? "This man...my father?" stuttered Brian in shock, his eyes darting from his mother to the man. But his mother told him his father died before he was even born. Had she been lying all this while? "Brian," The man called and slowly drew closer to Brian. Brian transfixed on his spot, took in the man's features as he approached. Brian, resembling his mother, had nothing in common with the man except the eye color. Their eyes were the same shade of brown. Could this be his father? The man exhaled deeply in happiness, running his hand on Brian's body. "You've grown so much." Brian looked into his eyes. "Are you really my father?" The man's hands stopped on Brian's shoulders. He answered with a hug. Brian stood still in shock as the man's arm tightened around him. His father was alive in all of his twenty-two years of life? His face twitched with disgust immediately and he pushed him away. T

Chapter Six
Brian's mouth hung open at the revelation. The Addams were the highest-ranking and wealthiest of all other families in the city, known for their company, L.A.K.E Conglomerate. They had been around in the country for a long time, breeding generations. They were so popular that you couldn't be a citizen of the country without knowing them. But the whole family, except an old member, was assassinated and their corpse was posted on the internet. Before he died, the survivor transferred the rights of ownership to the Lennox family, a family that had a history of friendship with the Addams. A few days after the transfer of ownership, the old man died. Being the last member of the Adams family, his death marked the end of the Addams family. Brian read this exact story on the internet during research for an assignment. The Adams family were all dead so what was Edward saying? How could he be an Addams? Brian stifled a laugh. "Nice joke Dad."He glanced at Edward's face which didn't expr

Chapter Seven
The door yanked open and a man in a red suit walked in, holding a stack of files. "Hey Eddie, I just received the business proposal from Mr. Kowalski. Funny man. After his defiance, he still decided to bring it. What did I tell you?" He started speaking immediately, oblivious to the presence of the other people as his head was bent towards a pack of files he was holding. "Maybe we should play a little prank on him just to get him on his edge, you know. What do you think?" The man looked up and widened his eyes, finally noticing the other people in the study. "Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't know you had guests. I..." He stopped apologizing when he caught sight of Rosanna. "Color me shocked. Rosanna, is that you?" Brian narrowed his eyes. How does this man know his mother? A little smile tugged Rosanna's lip. "Hey, Richard." Brian took another look at the man and narrowed his eyes more, trying to remember where he saw him. The quiff on his blond hair looked very familiar. Brian let ou

Chapter Eight
"Yeah, your father told me to transfer it to you," Richard explained as he kept his phone back in his pocket. Brian stared at his phone with his mouth hung open. "Are you okay? Is the amount too small? I told Edward to send one billion dollars." "Uh, did you just say the amount is too small?" Brian looked at Richard unbelievably. He has never owned an amount exceeding a thousand dollars, now he had millions and he was saying it was too small? It was the greatest amount to Brian. Richard shrugged. "What do I know? I have more than that." "This is...this is so great. Thank you so much." "Anytime. If you need more don't hesitate to let me know. Anyway, how do I look? How's my hair?" He tugged his suit and ran his hand on his blond hair. It seemed he added more gel and brushed up his quiff because it was more evident than last night. He had also shaved. Last night, Brian saw some strands of beards on his cheek and chin, but his face was now as smooth as the marble tiles on the groun

Patricia and Margaret stared at Brian in surprise before bursting into laughter. "Oh, Brian Ashton. You make me laugh." Patricia said, doubling over in laughter. "He doesn't want only the gowns but the rest of our clothes? Nice joke." Margaret added. Brian only crossed his arms and waited in silence for their laughter to die down. He asked flatly. "Are you two done?" "Oh wait, you are serious?" Patricia said, still laughing. She drew in a deep breath to calm herself. "Maybe you are confused. This isn't like all your rags you call clothes. These are rich classy clothes worth a hundred dollars. They can probably foot your bills." Brian shrugged. "I know and I want them." "Too bad. We already bought them." "No, you haven't. Where's your receipt?" Patricia pursed her lips. She hasn't paid for them yet. "Well, Gabe will be here to pay for them soon." Brian sighed and faced the sales lady. "She doesn't own those clothes yet, right? So I'd like to buy them." "Well..." The sales

Chapter Ten
"Oh, I see. You and your mother are messing with me and ignoring my calls, right? You don't want to pay me. Guess what? I just threw out all of your useless stuff. That should bring you here." Brian read this text message as he was being driven to a salon Charlene recommended. Below this message was a picture of their belongings piled up outside the apartment. He chuckled. Even though it was a text message, he could imagine his landlord's angry expression and voice as he read it. The landlord hated him and his mother so much because they paid their rent late. What a relief they weren't living there anymore. He stared at the picture of all their belongings. His room in the mansion had everything he needed, even better. So there seemed to be no need to get his belongings. But his school books were among them. He needed the notes he had written in them for school. And he didn't feel comfortable leaving their belongings lying there for anyone to take. "Let's go to my former flat firs
