"Sir, should I take a shot?" The sniper kept asking, but Gabriel's mind was at a loss as he took a seat."Sir, should I stand down?" The sniper asked. The earlier plan was to shoot Shelly point blank as soon as Gabriel walked away. But the sniper was confused to see a man talking to his boss and getting the briefcase. The photo he was given was of a woman with blond hair, not a man."Sir, the person you were talking to is getting away. Should I stand down?" The sniper asked, but Gabriel's mind was astray.Josh, who was still in the hospital and heard the entire conversation between Michael and his brother, was left numb in his bed. The part that hit him the most was the Cathy part. He laughed out loud and now understood why Rachel was all over the place looking for Daniel like some obedient pet.The duo was the most unexpected pair that he had not expected to work together, but he now understood why. Daniel faked Rachel's daughter's death, then concentrated on sending Mateo to prison
"Bring Kendall here, and I will not hurt Cathy," Zain typed, waiting for a response after a long pause from Daniel."Seriously! You are holding me hostage!" Cathy yelled at him in disbelief."Do not worry, Daniel did the same with Kendall in exchange for Shelly, so we can still be friends," Zain explained.Daniel held his head, realizing what was going on. He placed his hands over his face. It was already clear that Josh had fed him his version of the story and made him to be the villain of the story."Your loving boyfriend betrayed Kendall, so do not judge me," he added."Zain, I did not betray Kendall. She is fine, the exchange was part of an act," Daniel finally typed."What do you mean?" Zain asked, confused. "Are you hiding her too?""Something like that, but Josh must not find out; as far as he knows, I hate Kendall and forced her to run," he explained.Zain was quiet, trying to process what was on the screen."Kendall is hiding from her family, her father and uncle betrayed her
Meanwhile, Daniel finished up with his electron magnetic plate and slowly inserted it over his chest. Even though he wasn't sure it would be 100 percent effective, Rexa assured him it was very effective and could detect the magnets from miles away. After he was done, he got to work on all the work that he left hanging. He still had his eyes on Zain and Cathy and was not sure whether to trust Zain yet.His phone rang, and it was Elijah. He answered expecting to hear news on the sniper, but the guard asked him to turn on the news channel for the breaking news.Daniel quickly went to the channels that were alive at the mention of Rachel, and to his shock, their mansion was blown to pieces and the rescuers were at the scene searching for survivors.According to the news, it looked like a bomb was set off inside the house, and both the mother and son were inside.Daniel stared at the rubble that was once a big mansion, his heart beating fast. It was clear someone had set out to kill Rachel
On the other side, Gabriel and Josh watched the news, eying each other.Josh cleared his throat, but before he could say anything, Gabriel spoke up."I did not do that; why on earth would I target that abnormal crazy finished woman?" Gabriel quickly defended himself."Her daughter is alive," Josh replied."So..." Gabriel replied, irritated. "Daniel is the one I am interested in," he replied as he raised his eyes to the screen just in time to see Daniel on the screen talking with Max."Holy shit! That's the stupid rat!" He yelled.Josh looked at the screen in shock, "I knew he was not dead!" Gabriel yelled and got on his phone. He needed to get the sniper to the house."What are you doing? We need to bring Daniel in alive, remember?" Josh reminded him."I know," Gabriel replied but walked out of the room."Hey Gabriel, get back here!" Josh warned. "Get back here!"But Gabriel ignored him and was already at the corner of the corridor. He had no time to waste. Whoever blew up the house
Daniel waited patiently as he watched the rescuers try to get rid of all the rubble that was on top of the basement. With much of it removed, he could hear both Rachel and Craig talking. The clock was two in the morning, but he wanted to wait for the rescue to end and see to it that they were not attacked again.Gabriel arrived, still unable to get hold of his sniper. He had a gun in his car, but there were too many police officers and reporters for him to be the one to pull the trigger. But for safety reasons, he tucked it behind his jacket. He got out of the car while dialing the sniper's line again but could not get through. He kicked his car out of irritation. Taking Daniel out of plain sight was his last choice, but it was very risky. He looked around, trying to spot Daniel, but could not find him outside. He walked to where the perimeter was set, but an officer approached him and told him to leave."Sir, we can't allow you to pass this line," the officer said."Get out of my wa
"Daniel, are you okay?" Max asked after the long pause from Daniel.Daniel smiled, "Of course, let's go," he replied and got into the car.Rexa had just finished up with the search of the phone and apart from Rachel's invitation, there was nothing suspicious in his phone.Daniel ordered her to follow the ambulances that took both Craig and Rachel and ordered her to cause a fault to any ambulance that took the wrong route away from the hospital.Max cleared his throat as he got into the car and ordered the driver to start off."I overheard the rescuers saying you are the one that pinpointed where Craig and his mother were trapped," Max started up a conversation."Yes, Rachel texted me," Daniel lied."Thee Rachel Nash texted you?" Max asked surprised. "You mean the woman that hated your presence?" He asked.Daniel smiled. "Once you get money, everyone tends to like you," Daniel joked.Max laughed out"So is your wife back too?" Daniel asked. "Sorry I never got a chance to meet her," Dan
While Daniel was on the phone, the doctor walked out and nodded at Max."You can now see the patients?" The doctor said."Are they okay? Which room is the mother?" Max asked."The first room," the doctor replied.Max thanked the doctor and looked behind him. He could clearly see that Daniel was having a heated conversation with whoever was at the end of the line.He quickly walked into Rachel's room and closed the door behind him.Rachel looked up thinking it was Daniel, but to her disappointment, it was Max."Hello, Rachel?" He wavedRachel quickly sat up straight, not wanting to show any fear or that she suspected that he was somehow related to the partner."How is my son? Which room is he in?" She asked a question that any mother would ask."He is in the next room; I am yet to see him," Max replied.Rachel stared at him; the more he spoke, the more convinced she was about her suspicions."Ain't you supposed to check on your friend first?" She asked.Max smiled and took a seat, "Did
After a day, Rachel and her son were finally discharged from the hospital. Thanks to the tough walls of the basement, they both did not have any major injuries.Daniel offered one of his apartments, but Rachel refused his offer. Even the investigators wanted to put her and Craig in protective custody, but she refused. She was not going to go into hiding while her daughter was supposedly with the enemy. What she was interested in was her daughter. She had been nothing but patient and was eager to know who was babysitting Cathy. The person who Max claimed to be his half-brother. She was tempted to ask Daniel who it was, but that was only going to raise suspicion and put Daniel in more Danger.Max warned her they were watching, and if she slipped, Daniel would find out. She was aware of who would be the first to kick the bucket. She was still in disbelief but had no time to use emotions. What bothered her more was the fact that Max had no grandparents. She did some digging around, she re
