Daniel smiled as he walked into his aunty's room. He'd just avoided a hundred questions from Craig. He could tell he hadn't believed him, but there was nothing he could do. He could only hope that the friend would drop the subject and never bring the topic up again.

He walked into Carol's side of the bed, took a seat while holding her hand, and excitedly told her about the good news he had received. He wished she was awake to join him in his celebration. He missed all the hugs and kisses she would have given him and a lecture on not becoming arrogant once he's made it. She always liked giving that lecture. He had always despised the speech, but now that she was in a coma, he wanted to hear it so badly, but he couldn't.

He missed all the little speeches that used to irritate him and promised himself that when she woke up, he would never find anything irritating again. He was going to be listening to every word with a smile on his face.
