Denera walked briskly through the opulent hallways of the Rhodes mansion, her heels clicking against the polished marble floors.

The grandiose decor—gilded mirrors, crystal chandeliers, and intricate tapestries—did little to ease her mind.

She had just returned from visiting Sandra in the hospital, a calculated move to divert any suspicion from herself.

“Rhys, what are you doing home at this time?” she asked, her voice laced with genuine surprise.
